James, I just finished watching A Pilgrim's Journey. Of all the Camino videos I have watched, yours does the best to capture the elements of humanity and community. The friends you made, for a time, became my friends too. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for sharing your experience with us.

Such a special journey I did with my father. Such a struggle walking so far everyday, my bones ached my feet were covered in blisters but I'd do it again in a drop of a hat.

One of the best Camino films Ive seen. A really good balance of all the elements. I love all the walk throughs of the Alburques as you were finding your bed each evening. Also, that both Margaret and James said essentially the same thing, if you find yourself watching this and thinking you want to, or must do it, then you should. It is calling you. There is a reason.

This documentary gives you a good impression what you will experience by walking the camino F. It brings back all those special moments in a split second. The landscape....astonishing in it's beauty 😘
And...... on top of the world we hung out Tibetans flags so that the wind will carry the words of love and spread them over the world...

This is wonderfully done! It seems like only yesterday I was there. I walked between 17th September 2013 & 1st November 2013. Made it to Finisterre. Walked the beach. Watched the Atlantic. Some of that shoulder time was getting to the start & home. 5 weeks - 500 miles. Before I knew it, back in the USA. Watching your wonderfully true video I felt that the Camino was exactly where I belong. Buen Camino, peregrinos!!!!!!!

Thanks so much for this huge labour of love, Jamie! I did the Norte this past summer, and I miss the Camino everyday. I watched this film for the first time last year when I first started planning and I've watched it three or four times since. I've watched clips since getting back just to deal with some of the Camino-sickness that strikes every now and again. The Norte is different in so many ways, but in others it is exactly the same. The relationships and the people for the the most part.

I just walked it in April and May 2016. It was sooooo much wetter! I was glad of my water proof Keens and green poncho. I have held on to the peace I found on the Camino and find I am much less reactive. It gave me a much better perspective on my life and my friends. If the Camino calls you, answer it! You will be so glad you did.

Hey brother. I've been home from Santiago for almost a year. Well...most of me is home. My heart is still out there on the Camino. Often that keeps me awake at night. When it does I look for reminders of what life was like out there on the trail. There are bunches of memories to be found out here on the internet. But none better captured that wonderful place than this film. Watching it before bed is like a warm embrace from a long lost family member. Good job man! Thank you!

Thank you, Jamie! I just discovered this and I think you did a great job. I want to walk The Camino, but if I never get to walk it, I can watch this and walk back and forth in front of my TV for a "virtual Camino" experience. But if I DO get to go -- this is beautifully informative -- especially about the albergues and the foods (and the showers) and weather and wear and tear on the feet and waterproof boots.

As I'm watching this video, I felt I'm with them, feeling the blister of my feet, heat from the sun and sometimes soaked in the rain. I really appreciated how the pilgrims bonded with each other and sharing their personal stories. For years I have been traveling with pilgrims to Israel , Italy and my recent trip last May was in Portugal, Spain and France. Looking forward to continue my journey this year and years to come which is very exciting and at the same time educational .

This is one of the best videos on the Camino I could find.
Most of them are disturbed by irritating background music, which makes it impossible to experience the atmosphere of the trip and to listen to spoken word. No music at all, would be the best.

Took me 37 days as well!!! Two rest days. I was soooo out of shape that I had to walk an average of 8-10 hrs EACH day to make it when most could do it in under 6 haha. I SHOULD have taken more than 37 days but I went with my much fitter sister. Each night she had to wait for me for three hours to catch up.
The first day from St. Jean to Roncesvalles took me a whopping 14 hours! But in the end, 37 days wound being the average!

Thank you so much for sharing your own Camino. First read about it when I was in highschool, from Paulo Coelho's The Pilgrimage. Will now be in my 30s and I feel the right time is just around the corner. Fingers crossed will do it on or before the next great Jacobean year and when renovations of the Cathedral are done. Love watching Camino videos! Buen Camino!

Thank you Jamie for a most wonderful and very insightful video of your Camino journey! You have done an excellent job making me experience the glorious, soulful and religious journey which I hope I can experience one day! Both my mom and son already saw Santiago de Compostela and were in awe seeing the cathedral in Galicia but have not participated as pilgrims yet. I intend to experience the long surreal walk . Must be really cathartic. Kudos to such great video! Thank you for posting!

Jamie, this is fabulous. I've been making advice videos here on youtube about the Camino for years, but when I go back this year, I'm wanting to really delve more into this side of it, but I doubt I could ever put together something this good! The amount of effort you've put into this is astounding and the quality really shows through. I especially admire the insight into the relationships on the Camino and the honesty and vulnerability that comes into play. It really is a unique phenomenon to travel, but especially the Camino. Well done, pilgrim.
I think the main things holding me back are 1) being shy to film myself in front of others, and to ask others if it's alright to film them (a narcissistic part of me hopes that enough people will recognize me from my videos that they will come to me and expect it! ; 2) lacking a good camera and editing skills (although I'm working on the editing); and 3) hoping I'll have the energy once I'm there to not just throw the idea out the window on day 2 because I feel too tired!
It must have been difficult for you and I'm sure there were days that the last thing you felt like doing was filming. But thanks for being an inspiration and reminding me that the end result of all the work will be a worthy souvenir. Thanks so much for this. I will definitely be sharing. Take care, friend.

+Lindsey Cowie Thank you so much for your generous praise. It was hard work, and I was very blessed by bumping into people who were willing to take part in the documentary. I shot on a dslr canon 70d and a sony action camera As100r ( i think). And brought a very small laptop and extra batteries. The weight was not too bad or heavy. I would encourage you to give it a go. And for editing recommend adobe creative cloud - subscription, and perhaps do some lessons on lynda.com. It really is a process of trust, and persaverance. It took me a full year to finish the editing! Best of luck!

Jamie get rid of all the sodding music;I could barely make out a single word the woman with the baby was saying;ditto;most of those trying to talk while - seemingly - standing in the middle of a hard-of-hear orchestra.Your personality as well as the number of interesting interviewees means the music adds bugger-all to your diary.

+Lindsey Cowie Don't be afraid Lindsey; that type of fear you describe it's only in your mind, those preconceptions of the future doesn't really exist. If you want to do something like this documentary at the Camino, just do it.
There's no need to point out that you are shy, that you don't have a good camera, and that you'll be tired.
Do what you can where you are with what you have. Forget about everything else.
If you want to do it, you'll be great at it. Live the experience and let yourself go :)
      Wish you good luck!
I'll be doing the Camino this year probably in May or September.
      Cheers!!!

RATHER WELL DONE. I stuck with you throughout the whole movie. You are so genuine and shot this very "organically" and raw. It has become my most favourite so far. You are endearing and this makes the film so entertaining.
