- In 5 months this old Jeep goes from rusting back into the elements of the earth to conquering some of the best trails in North America! With a carburetor and points distributor we went “old school” and had a blast. The CJ was faithful and wheeled 6 hours and over 12 miles through mountain terrain! #sanjuanmountains #cj5 #offroad #jeepcj

@@robertedwards7430, I agree! I told my wife on this trip that this may be the Jeep that my boys say was my “dad’s jeep.”
She kinda rolled her eyes, because of all the Jeeps I’ve owned. 😂 However, this and my CJ2A will be keepers.
Thanks for the trip back in time. Back when i lived in Colorado I had a 75 cj5. Bout the same rattle can color also. Went all over that beautiful state. Every year my dad n I would ramble round for two weeks in September.
I have also become emotional enjoying the back country of Colorado in my Jeeps.

Hey CJ5 brother! I've got a 1981 with a 258 inline 6. Makes me wish I was living out west again. Not that many overlanding trails around here in central NC. They're all chained up for future condos. 😉
There's no better drive than being in a CJ with the windshield down! Especially when up on a mountain trail with the amazing scenery surrounding you. Beautiful drive and beautiful Jeep!

Yes, the feller really helped me out. I wish I could’ve brought him, but the 24 hour drive would’ve been too much on a new dog.
Gears gears gears !!!low first gear T18 ,3:15 TFC gear set , and whatever final gears you think you can get away with on the road . Lol. Now if you can just find someone to finance all that!! I'm really enjoying these videos. This is the style of off-roading I like . God Bless.

100% agree! I was told on the trails there were 3 categories of people 1. The young folk (Jk and JL) 2. The old School (Tj and YJ) 3. Antique.

Yes, I got to looking at the 24 hour drive and I think it would’ve been real hard on the both of us. When he’s trained a little more we’ll take shorter trips and work up to a big one. Btw, the event that solidified the decision was he stepped in my coffee cup a few days ago while I had left the truck. When I returned there was coffee from the windshield to the back window. 🙄

Conquers? I drove these roads in a 2-wheel drive Ford Courier long bed in 1986.

I luv your style = keeping cj5 origional BUT that modern steering wheel has GOT 2 GO. When yall get back order a new ORIGINAL BIG OLE STEERING WHEEL! Have Fun and B Good.
