  • This video is when I was out alone in high waves. The wind was just right on this part of the river. There fore the waves were building is size on themselves. The waves ranged between 1 and 2 1/2 feet. I have never had a wave come in the bow of my canoe, until this day. The hard part was making the turn to head back down, without flipping the canoe. Enjoy the time on the water as much as you can. Thanks for watching. Give a thumbs up if you can. I like to know I am doing something right on here.

I remember my first rough day in my canoe. 1969 alumacraft 17 foot square stern with a 1975 eska 3.5hp motor. Was motoring in when a cabin cruiser made some waves for me. Turned the bow into the 4 foot wake, cut the throttle to an idle, and held on. Stuffed the bow on the first set and got a nice river water bath, bridged the second set because 17 feet of straight aluminum will do that. Fun times.

Sounds fun. The same thing happened to me. There were a lot of big boats out on the river that weekend. They didn't care about me at all.when I made it back to the boat landing. I had 6 inches of water in the bottom.I was glad I had my camera equipment in a water tight box.

I wish there was commentary instead of music I want to understand what he’s feeling as he goes through the rough water, usually pleasant serene music like on this video means easy Peezy. I was expecting comment from the video “ oh this is crazy you don’t ever do this at some point I need to turn around this is way too dangerous“ just bought a square back with a 5 hp and I’m searching videos for what to expect- didn’t get much from this one!
