    You are so right. If I'm wearingny gear, it's my kneepads for the reasons you gave. gloves are next, then helmet, then elbows. Funny thing is, I never once thought EUCs were dangerous. Even after my first wreck. LOL.

      Nice. Same hierarchy for me. I might put elbow pads before helmet though. It's a close one there.

    EUC gear is my equivalent of a porn addiction. I'm designing and building 2 vastly different crash suit designs and enjoying it almost as much as riding. I cringe when I see people with inadequate gear and almost can't bare to watch accumulated risks and the inevitability of injuries. I'm lucky, I live in an area that is saturated with used/unwanted high-end gear... none of it fits my 2.0m stature but that's where the sewing comes in handy. My opinion is that one should invest an equal amount in their gear as they have invested in their cumulative fleet of EUCs. Road rash is cheap experiential motivation for getting into the protection gear habit. Luckily, I've sustained no additional chronic injuries from riding (yet). The EUC has enabled me vastly more mobility that was otherwise unavailable to me due to my previously accumulated physical disabilities and pain. I'll share my gear design once it's tested and viable so that others can easily make their own custom modifications and source materials as inexpensively as I believe is possible.
    It should be noted that there is a depth and breath to the segment of our community that is permanently disabled and has adopted EUCs as a life enhancing/affirming personal motility device, which has enabled physical exercise that was not possible before EUCs existed. I've seen so many EUC riders who have "graduated" from the limitations of easier to learn (high-risk) E-scooters and side-stance PEVs, but I've seen very few who have consciously decided to "downgrade" to E-skate/bike/kick-scoot platforms. I think this is the best evidence that the transition to EUCs is well worth the effort, and hope the manufacturers will do their part in creating equipment that is worthy of this sport's potential.

      Yeah I'm very religious about my gear too. I feel naked without it especially if I forget to throw on my knee pads.
      Hey George can I use you as a reference in my appeal of that fine? I am arguing that the EUC is the only hands free walking aid in existence and that it alleviates pain caused by some previous injuries. I have medical records to back it up but it would be great to have examples of other people using these devices as walking aids.
      I've had the same experience. When my foot was so bad I could barely walk a few metres, I could still travel over 10km per day by EUC.

      Some ppl think I'm over geared, I been hurt enough to many injuries. I am fully geared in top of the line leatt body armor with kinetic plating and military Ballistic goggles, ever take large bugs to the face at 60kph plus?
      Getting hurt sucks the cost of the gear is worth it. I was in a wheelchair from last September till this February, I had ok gear but it's just worth getting good stuff. What bothers me are the ppl who get the cheap 60 dollar ebay crap you may as well cut up a crazy carpet and stich it onto a t-shirt.

    The ducks were sure happy to see you... they were wagging their tails... E-scooters lure people to hurt themselves. Someone may ride a rent-a-wreck scooter and pin the throttle everywhere... so, they buy a scooter for themselvs... a Nami Viper of course... try pinning that... even at 80kph... you will likely taste tarmac No matter how much you tell a noob how fast a hyperscooter is... they are still likely to pin the throttle and hurt themselves. Plus, if you come off a scooter, there is a great risk of the stem and body of the scooter beating you up in the crash.

    • @arcrides6841
      @arcrides6841  Před rokem +2

      Yeah I love those things. Didn't know they were ducks until now. Freeforester mentioned that they're Muscovi Ducks. Hey just the other day I got to ride a hyper scooter. I was delivering an Uber order and they were really interested in my EUC so they brought out this crazy scooter and told me to take it for a spin. I pinned the throttle and both wheels started to do a burnout at the same time. I realized immediately that you need to respect the throttle. With EUCs you could take a 300km/h wheel (if there were such a thing) and put a beginner on there knowing with full certainty that they'll be safe and never go much faster than walking speed.
      This is because we need to earn our speed and acceleration through balance. We can't just pull a lever like playing a video game.

    Always helmet first, you can't live too well with a damaged brain. But knee pads too, you don't need the protective gear, until you do.
