Asking Erewhon Shoppers What They Do For a Living

  • In this video, I ask people at Erewhon a bunch of questions like what they do for a living, how much they make, why they shop at such an expensive store, and a bunch of other spicy questions.
Erewhon Market is probably one of the most expensive grocery stores in the world (they have 7 locations in LA), and I've always wondered who shops here, what they get, and how much it costs at the end of the day. I ended up spending $25 on a wellness juice and another $11 on a dozen eggs.
I met some really cool people and you'll want to stay until the end to hear about all the great advice and stories they had! Definitely out of my comfort zone asking random people at the store a bunch of really personal questions, but I had a lot of fun and learned a lot.

Just because people shop there doesn't mean they're rich. When I was making only $12/hr as a nanny, I still only shopped at Whole Foods? Some of us equate wealth with health, and we only want to eat the highest quality food.

If one is wealthy or rich currently, he or she will be broke eventually shopping there for carrot juice or grocery in general (but there is a niche for everything in this world). It's funny how people can jack up the prices on things and make people believe it's better than the $5- or $10-dollar carrot juice in Chinatown or at one of the juice shops that are well known, etc.

Almost every person he interviewed in this video definitely doesn't work jobs that pay enough to regularly shop at Erewhon. Unless they shop at Erewhon here and there, some of these folks working as a fitness instructor, a nanny, etc are making terrible financial decisions and don't know the worth of their money. Sure you can't put a price on happiness, but go shop at Whole Foods or Lunds & Byerlys if that's how you feel.
