Madhyamaavati is the Janya of 22nd Melakarta Kharahara Priya. It is an Audava Raaga.

It is an Upaanga Raaga.
It is a Raaga Kaaraka - Raaga. Four Raagas can be derived by applying the process of Modal shift of Tonic.

Madhyamaavati is an auspicious Raagam. As a sentiment, this is rendered at the end of a performance as it has the power to mitigate the sin of wrong renderings of other Raagas done in the performances. It is a sweet Raaga with a vast scope. It can be rendered at any time of the day or night.
