People need to park any negative perceptions of Wilson at the door, because they make some of THE best irons under their Staff brand. The blades and the CB are absolutely gorgeous (shame I’m not good enough to play them). These D9 Forged are a natural evolution of the C300 Forged (which I play), and then the D7 Forged. My concern would be the strong lofts with these - my C300 7 iron has 33 deg of loft, and it feels like there is a bit of a “hole” now between the D9 Forged (30.5 deg) and the CB (34 deg). I’d probably weaken the lofts by a degree which might make them fly higher but then drop that height by using a stiffer/heavier shaft for more control. Even with my C300 Forged at 33 degrees my 7 iron carries 175-180 yards. So glad you guys have given this club the attention it deserves. Looks, feel, height and distance. And probably the best value on the market. Wilson Staff are on a huge winner here!

Got my set of D7s 2.5 years ago and they are phenomenal clubs, especially easy to control its flight pattern versus my Mizunos No matter what shot pattern I need, power fade, low punch, soft or heavy draw or high flops I just adjust my grip and stance and “bingo” I accomplished what I wanted …… very manageable clubs, pin seekers!!!!

Great irons for high handicap if you are a decent ball striker and will definitely give you the feedback you need to have when you need to know where you are on the face and will grow with your game to the single digits for sure. With gold being a lifelong sport, there comes a time when ball speed and club head speed starts to fade. This category uses technology to help that demographic that may be good ball strikers that need some more pop. Using tech to get lower loft distance with the control of the shorter shaft. Not just a feel good about themselves category in my opinion.
      You do you though.
