No it's not the same roots. The cajun's musiciens came from french arcadie (now quebec) when the english army defeat the french army in the middle of 18th century and those guys historicaly came from french region "bretagne" et "poitou". Raphael Thierry and his pipe came from french region "morvan"... It's not so far but really different tradition and music.
Raphaël Thiéry is an amazing guy, and that sound is downright haunting. Does it have the same roots as the Louisiana Bayou or Cajun sounds?
