I've never felt so sorry for a manager in my entire life. +Ovidio Graziana - Yes the owners have played their part in taking a lot of money from the club and saddling it with huge debts but they have also spent the most amount of money in the PL era, more than any other club. However, they have brought in the wrong players (Fred, Pogba, etc) and given extensions to those that should have never been given them (Jones, Matic, Fernandes, Bailly, Martial, Rashford). This latter part was the fault of Ed Woodward who was a disaster for the club in the transfer market. In addition to this, it' s the players and the manager to blame. Why is the manager still playing Fred? That doesn't come from the board. Why has he bought a 5 foot 9 inch centre half? Why is he still paying Sancho and Rashford who are both Championship players and nowhere near good enough. The list goes on...No need to feel sorry for him. He is just not good enough to be the manager. Why is he not playing Van De Beek and some of the youngsters? Why is he persisting with Fred who is one of our worst ever if not the worst ever signing? ETH is quickly being found out and I think he will be leaving the club soon. He is making the same mistakes as the other managers.

As a Utd supporter of fifty years, it was wonderful to see a typical Man Utd goal of twenty yrs ago, being scored in 2022. That was Brentford’s 4th.
Solution…long term manager that is unwavering in their belief that they can produce a squad that will perform week in and week out and a youth system that will produce players to perform at the highest level as quickly as possible. That’s it.
Fergusons success came from the youth team, not from spending extortionate amounts for nomadic, so called superstars. Beckham, Giggs, Ronaldo, Scholes, Butt, Nevilles etc we’re nobodies until they pulled on the red shirt. Apart from Schmeichel and Keane, all of the famous 11 plus cost them nothing. Even Cantona, out of favour at Leeds, cost less than £1 mill. All had instilled in them the belief they were the gladiators of their club and any burgeoning primadonnas had their wings clipped. In recent years, our best results have come when we have played as a counter attacking team. Ole was successful initially because of that. The moment he started playing as a possession based pressing team, we started conceding too many goals, and that hasn't changed. This leaky defence transmits this nervous energy throughout our team, and I guess that has a knock on effect on our attacking players.
Until we reinforce properly with 4-5 new players, we should try playing 5-3-2 as a counterattacking team, so that our slow defence doesn't get caught that often.

@Forward To The Past please read carefully- I said ole was ‘initially’ successful with a counterattacking system which suited our slow defense.
Also, we went an year on the road without defeat - which was one of the longest runs undefeated by any premier league club. Although we weren’t playing great football, we were at least picking up consistent points and had a lot of come backs from losing positions, so that was some sort of relative success as compared to the current shambles we’re in.
That being said, I’m not advocating that ole shouldn’t have been sacked. I was merely pointing out one of the possible ways we could play with the current squad.
Hope this brings clarity to the argument.
