In today's instrumental music, tone is as irrelevant as it is personal.
Tonal quality is personalized - individualized.
Jonathan Sims I tell my students tone quality is more important than the technicality of your playing. If you don't have good tone, people aren't going to want to listen
for those talking tone here -its a cell phone vid -I do see Mindi w/a condenser & Koz using a vocal mic (dynamic I imagine) & Koz wins to these ears, but you need to mix like instruments differently so they differentiate from each other. We wouldn't want them sounding the same, now would we....

There is nothing wrong musically with either of them. Infact I think both of them stand tall in their respective areas. But somehow Mr Dave appeals to my ears more, always has.
