When I saw this music video first in 2006, I stopped eating lunch and just watched it.
I thought this song is quite different from other kpops in terms of quality.
But, actually, I wasn't able to expect him to get this famous of today cause I didn't know youtube which enables it to spread worldwide...
Anyway, I'm really glad many people of other countries love one of my favorite musician in my country :)

The meaning behind the song and the music video is that the North Koreans and South Koreans are all the same and through music we can unite :/ being a korean myself, this song has deep meaning for me...
Korean people really enjoy singing one single phrase in english in each song and putting it as the title. All said, I really think this guy is special.

The title and the caption says it all: this is a cheer song for the 2006 World Cup, and he sings about national (and team and fan) unity. The video is a spoof of several South Korean box office hits (chiefly Shiri and Oldboy, but also Silmido and Double Agent and Yesterday), and its story is this: to copy the 2002 WC success and fan support of the South, North Korea kidnaps PSY and trains a lookalike to replace him in South Korea, who then unite the country with simultaneous concerts.
I was not expecting to like this song, but I do...

yes bro, I'm a metal fan since I was 12. Slayer, early Metallica, Immortal, cannibal corpse. etc are my normal staffs.
Have you ever had a feeling while you listen to Psy's staffs, he 'somehow' adopted some catchy melodies from metal. He studied in US and I'm not sure whether he get any influences or not.

This happened in 1968-1972, when South Korea was a dictatorship too, and the story had a rather bloody end when the unit rebelled after 3 years on Silmido Island. All members were killed, committed suicide or were executed and remaining government files weren't disclosed until 2006, three years after the movie. (Search for "Unit 684" for more details.) In PSY's MV, for example the guitarrist crawling in the mud under barbed wire and the karate chop training scenes are from this movie.

Actually, there are two movie parodies here. The training parts are all parodies of the movie "쉬리(Swiri : Coreoleuciscus splendidus)" released in 1998. And the confinement scene is, of course, Old boy.
