I have a Richie scales just like yours, some eejit ( or a man sick or sheep!) dumped it into Felix Gormleys scrap yard.
€50 for the scales ( no clock) and like your one, new bearings needed.
150lbs clock off eBay, and I was sorted.

Interesting video
I used to winter shear and feed quality haylage. Bales were dropped on their ends and unwound by hand in order to check carefully that there was no mould fed. Any mouldy patches were removed with a good margin of clean looking haylage. Partly used bales were tied up with a rope of wrapping net to stop them slumping and becoming difficult to unwind. I know it sounds labour intensive, but listeria is no fun. The shearing made them comfortable and f course gave them more space. Really important to have a quality ration to avoid wool slip as the ewe needs an inch of fleece at turnout. The sheep seemed to like the system as they didn’t have to be asked to come in out of the relentless wet winter weather, equally delighted to get out with lambs at foot to fresh rested grass.

Hi I like your videos a lot we dip our sheep in the summer 3 or 4 times good job but we only do a mineral dose when dipping them . Question what’s your thoughts on putting sheep in the shed 2 months before lambing we have commercial wondering if it mattered or made a difference putting them in 2 months before lambing like your videos a lot keep making them and a good dose if your wondering that covers fluke and worm is endospec really good and did a great job on the sheep

Plenty of people house for 2 or even 3 months. I think they will be fine once we'll bedded and good quality silage or hay with a little meal. Need to be well fed especially in the month before lambing in the shed.
We have housed our beltex Cross texel ewes from mid January till start lambing in 1st week of April for the last 25 years.they are wintered on baled silage on slats with meal fed in the last 5 weeks according to scan results. The silage has molasses added and we have never had a single case of twin lamb disease in all that time.In addition we find that the ewes on average last longer and that housing means land gets rested ,and this means a lot 800 feet up.If your for bedding them keep on top of foot issues with regular foot bathing

I buy all that in local agri stores. Thankfully not the most expensive part of the operation.
Hi Dave, just wondering what the converter below the electronic weigh head is called ? It looks different that load bars ? Only wondering as my weigher has no room for underneath load bars so looking for top conversions or something to save me buying a new weigher - thank you !
The weigh head is a single load cell designed to convert any scales that uses an analogue weight clock. I fitted a small frame where the clock originally was fitted to allow the load cell space to hang and also somewhere to fit the trutest weigher.

Don't mind cattle at all but I think costs are too high in my area with a six to 6 or 7 month winter and silage not getting any cheaper to make.

Hi Dave a other good job just checking wood that weight head work any scales my 1 u have 2 pull pull down leaver when u way each lame. just c u leav scales up all time.
If you look again I can't open front gate without taking weight off the load cell. Once you can put weight on load cell before lamb enters it should be fine.
