    let me clear a bit of confusion almost everyone will have regarding this method to find which number is a perfect sq. or not. This method only gives u the possibility of that number being a perfect square. For example, the number 160 has 0 as the unit place and the sum of all numbers is 7, so it should be a perfect square but it is not. Use this method in MCQ. If u have 145, 237, 4463 and 160 as option in a question which of these is a perfect square, u can just take out 237 and 4463 as a possibility of being the right ans as they dont have 0,1,4,5,6,9 as a unit digit so u just need to find out the square of just 145 and 160 using the actual method. Dont rely on this method to find the perfect sq. Its just to help u out

      If you take this number 12344
      Here ten's digit is 4 which is an even number. Though this number ends with 4 and have an even number in its ten's place it is not a perfect square!!! So we can't say that the given number is a perfect square by following these techniques

    I'm trying to test myself on random numbers and the first one I tried was 54189.
    -Last digit is 9 ✓
    -2nd-last digit is even ✓
    -Doesn't end in 5 or 6 ✓
    -Digital sum is odd (9) ✓
    ...and yet when I tried and failed to work out the square root, then punched it in on the calculator, it says the square root is ~232.785308815
    What did I miss?
    edit: After more research it looks like there are algorithms, like the one in this video, for determining if a number is NOT a perfect square.
    After trying the list of candidate ending numbers as a number itself (14,569), which also satisfies the given criteria, and discovering that's not a perfect prime either, I started to have my doubts.

    what about the square root of 169,it does not fulfil the 3rd rule,because can not give either 4 Or 9 when we add the digits

    • @nammalwarthiruvengadam2925
      @nammalwarthiruvengadam2925 Před 6 měsíci +3

      Digital sum of 169 is 7. (1+6+9=16=1+6=7). Digital sum is always represented in a single digit. One more tip : You need not count 9 (or the sum of numbers which give 9) when you find the digital sum of a number.
      As per the condition 3 stated in the video, the digital sum of a perfect square number is always ODD numbers or 4.(According to him, it means 1,3,5,7,9 and 4. )
      Digital sum of a perfect square is never being 3 and 5. So Digital sum of a perfect square is either 1, 4, 7 or 9 only.
      Just because a number satisfies all the conditions it does not mean that the number is a perfect square. It MAY be a perfect square or NOT.
      There are innumerable NON-PERFECT square numbers which satisfy all the conditions.
      The said conditions are used only to find the NON perfect square. That is we can say that the numbers that do not satisfy any one of the conditions are NON-PERFECT square.
      One more thing I would say that a perfect square number ending with 5, its second last digit is always 2 and its third last digit is always 0,2 or 6.

      2. Digital sum should be odd number or 4.

    • @nammalwarthiruvengadam2925
      @nammalwarthiruvengadam2925 Před 2 lety +1

      just because 3321 satisfies all the conditions, we can't say 3321 is a perfect square.
      The conditions mentioned above are useful only to identify the non-perfect square.i.e.when the given number doesn't satisfy anyone of the said conditions.
      Only solution to identify a number whether it is a perfect square is "prime factorization method".
      If the number of each prime factor of a number is even, then the number is a perfect square. Otherwise it is a non-perfect square.
      3321= 7*473 = 7*11*43
      Here number of all the three prime numbers are odd.
      Hence 3321 is not a perfect square.

    • @nammalwarthiruvengadam2925
      @nammalwarthiruvengadam2925 Před 2 lety

      Prime factorize 3321.
      3321 = 9*369 = 9* 9 *41 = 3*3*3*3*41
      Here 3 and 41 are prime factors.
      Number of prime factor 3 are 4 i.e. EVEN number.
      But the other prime factor 41 is only one , i.e . ODD number.
      If any one of the prime factors is in ODD number, then it must be a Non-Perfect square.
      Hence 3321 is not a perfect square.

    4500 is not a perfect square but still it's digital sum is 9
    Please tell me why

    • @syan6345

      Well man to put it simply the number of zeros at the end of a perfect square is always even but it may or may not not be so watch the number lying next to the zeros
      Your question is that 4500 digital sum is 9 but it's still not a perfect square well the reason is because from the no. 4500
      5 is not a perfect square it has to be an even number for example if it is 4600 then it's a perfect square number because here 6 is an even number
      SO MAKE SURE TO WATCH THE NUMBER LYING LEFT TO THE ZEROS IF IT'S A EVEN NUMBER THEN IT IS A PERFECT SQUARE NUMBER BUT IF IT IS A ODD NUMBER THEN IT IS NOT A PERFECT SQUARE
      BUT MAKE SURE TO REMEMBER THIS THAT THE NUMBER OF ZEROS HAS TO BE EVEN
      IF THE NUMBER OF ZEROS IS ODD THEN IT'S NOT A PERFECT SQUARE

    5041 is square of 71 and its digital sum 5+0+4+1=10 , and its not odd or 4.

    1260 is not a perfect square but if we add these then the solution is at odd 9

      There are a lot of Non-perfect square numbers which satisfies all the conditions that are required to be a perfect square.
      Perfect square numbers have even number of zeros at the end. Not only that, the remaining number must also be perfect square.
      In this case 1260 has odd number of zeros at the end. And also 126 is not a perfect square. Hence even if it has even number of zeros (suppose i.e. 12600) is not a perfect square.

    Points covered in this video (summary)
    How to find perfect squares:
    Perfect square ends with 1, 4, 5, 6, 9
    If ending with 1, 4, 9 ; second last digit would be an even number or 0
    If ending with 6 ; second last digit would be odd
    If ending with 5 ; second last digit would be 2
    Digital sum (Sum of digits) must be 1, 4, 9, 7 ; If sums 10, 13, etc then add 1 + 0, 1 + 3, etc

    Hi Sir, I'm confused with the last rule. If the number is 14^2 = 196 = 1+9+6 = 16 the last digit is 6 which is even but it is a perfect square. Why is it like that?

    • @Testis69
      @Testis69 Před rokem

      you must add the 1 and the 6 from 16 that you got and you then end up with 7

      Between square numbers 169 and 289, there is no perfect square number ending with 9.
      Hence 229 is not a perfect square number.
