Nicely done! You should glue a layer of foam or neoprene to the wood, it's a better shock absorber and you'll get a more consistent transfer of energy. Keep working hard!!
Yes a lil bit of cushion. I was checking to see if someone mentioned that
Blew my knees jump training in a cement garage
Actually rubber interlocking utility mats would probably be better and longer lasting. It's what I use on my jump board that I made. You can buy them at Lowes, or Walmart, etc. Sam's Club carried the multi colored mats in which I put down on my garage floor for working out. Great idea 💡 👍 though.
If anything, you can throw a horse stall mat on top. It’s not very bouncy, but it’s grippy, and sound will be deadened…that way the young man can train late into the night 😜. A 4x6 mat is only like $35
@@tboog8356 according to the knee over toes guy it’s because of relatively weak hamstrings.
Shut the fux up build your own
Dude looking back my dad did stuff like this all the time with expensive stuff and I was so embarrassed when he did. Now looking back I'm embarrassed that I was embarrassed because things like this is what makes a great dad. Going to go tell my dad how much I love him now.
While I’m at it, let me call my sister
wish i could, he passed away last year. don't take your parents for granted once they are gone they are gone forever
I had a bad relationship with my dad, but he later apologized for a lot of what he did and grew to understand how brainwashed he was by our cultures practices. We have a good relationship now and although he was a really rough man I never doubted his love for me and there was never once where I needed help and he didn’t atleast attempt something to aid me. I say this to anyone who has given up on their parents, they can come around in ways you don’t expect. To this day now we have a great relationship and go out to eat together. Never imagined being so close to my dad. Hold out hope and I promise after enough time passes, you only really remember the good stuff
My dad built me and my two brothers a bench press bench out of a truck rack that was meant for holding ladders and such. I said I couldn't take it with me when I moved out because I didn't have room for it. Man I love my dad. Glad he's still alive, he's the best person I've ever met
Yes, be glad you can still tell him you love him, I lost my dad when I was 26, I'm 48 now. Been a lot of years worth of shit I would have loved to tell him or thank him for but couldnt. Life sucks sometimes....
Love to see a father trying to get his son/daughter ahead in life. Keep up the GREAT WORK.

Jumping on hard surfaces like that can be good. Simply using dumbells would suffice
@@RYRHYMES , You are one negative dude. Why would they have to include tool boxes and wood scraps in the video?
Even if the kid doesn't succeed in basketball, he will succeed in life because he has a dad that will help him work towards his goals.

Love the diy build, but love more the dedication it seems this parent has for their child. Putting the time to craft from hand something that will benefit and help their sons athleticism. And helping him train, by counting and being involved, is great parenting.
Great job! Giving your kids an example of a father who provides support and resources to help them succeed and also showing them how ingenuity can have a positive effect on their lives.
What a Dad! This is awesome. My dad and I built me a plyo box when I was younger. This goes above and beyond.

Amazing parents. Both of them there helping him and encouraging him. I wish every child got to experience having parents like you guys. Very well done.
Excellent construction! And great work young man! Salute’ to the family for all buying in!!
Great thinking father and son. Love the ingenuity of this and the fact y’all were a team and accomplished the goal. Great job 🤝
Good job!! I added resistance bands to our 16 ft trampoline for my son workouts. We use it for coordination while catching the ball vertically and then side to side movements.
love to see it. Might want to double check the resistance bands levels just to make sure the resistance is evenly distributed and consistent all around the body and legs. Typically, different color bands indicate different levels of resistance.
Thinking the same thing
My exact thoughts. Maybe he was working a weaker left leg. But very good point and important to consider what you said.
Exactly
I don't think they're resistance bands.
They look like bungee cords.
you think too hard about it. i dont think the slight difference in resistance is going to make him have one buff leg and the other small or if that were the case youd have one big arm and one small arm lol
Man that right there is parent commitment. You are providing whatever tools necessary for your child to be great. Well done!!!!! 🙏🏽👊🏽👍🏽
The kind of father EVERY kid deserves! Good to see this man pushing his son to be successful in life.
great idea over all, but i would definitely recommend having equal resistance on both sides. so maybe switch one red and green. just to have balanced muscle building

What I appreciate is you can tell they are living just fine and probably could afford to buy one but instead chose to work together, save money and improve the kids performance . Being humbled is awesome 💥
Love it . It’s amazing how much the simplest machines cost so much money . Like TRX bands are $5 tie downs at the hardware store .
That’s epic. Reminds me when I was 18, I built my own perfect push-ups because I didn’t have the money to buy any. They were made out of wood and epic as hell. I still got em.

Well done. Great craftsmanship!!!
It’s really not that difficult to build for all y’all asking I mean just lowkey at it it’s simple. All you need is some hard wood restante cords some shock absorbant pads and some hooks and you’ll be good
You have to understand that most people aren't capable of thinking for themselves. They can only follow orders and ask for help.
I really dig this.
However, the different color bands are usually different weight tensions. They should be the same color all the way around, otherwise you risk building more muscle on one side over the other.
Pretty sure that only applies to actual weight training bands. These bands look like they were bought from an AutoZone or something. Packs of bands used in cars usually come in several colors while offering the same resistance. If he had athletic bands on that were different resistances, you would see him be lopsided once he got tired, but he isn’t. Also, this dad was smart enough to build this, I don’t think he’d be dumb enough to buy bands of different resistance no matter how we think of it
@@galaxytater2566 yeah, I didn't think of that. Hopefully that's the case.

I admire the dedication and definitely involvement in his son's life. Just being there is important but uncommon. Hopefully he instills the same kind of discipline in regards to schoolwork and academics. This is awesome well done!!!! Very impressive! I was wondering though, are those bands different colors due to them being different intensities? If so It would be more beneficial to have the same intensity all around so that one side of his hips isn't stronger than the other. That may cause imbalances later on. however, if you have a method to your madness then awesome work!
Yall keep killing it in life as a small youtuber myself with some baby ballers this is amazing

Keep up the OUTSTANDING WORK MOM AND DAD!!
Good idea...just need softer material than wood. Knees might give out after awhile.
Nope, he’s training for basketball and basketball courts are hard wood or concrete you have to train in the environment that you’ll be playing if you played soccer for 20 years in a indoor field with concrete and immediately went to the pro leagues in grass it would throw you off because you haven’t trained in grass before with your feet having uneven surfaces this is better
Lol that kid didn’t seem like he wanted to do that work at all especially when the dad said we are going to do the ankle ones next but not everyday is going to be great and you are going to want to work hard especially as a young kid.
Kid was probably tired already
The important thing is that he still did it!
I remember doing the vertimax a few times in highschool for off-season track workouts. Couldn't walk right for a week I'd be so sore.
Gotta teach your kid life lessons before it's too late
Way to go to both parents for being present and pushing their kids, who set up is awesome. Well played Dad well played.

I see you young Soldier! Keep working hard and dreams will come true 👍
You realize that Vertimax has like 20000 crazy long bands that are barely stretched so it is the same resistance through the whole motion. That’s why he is not jumping high and is losing his balance.
He would probably get better results with this then the vertimax

I would definitely develope a lower body strength foundationh before implementing this equipment to a child his age
but he’s like 16
Mans is like 16 he’s got a strong base
It’s not about his age he does not absorb force while landing correctly or Efficiently like I said he need to develop a stronger lower body before doing this type of training or this kid 1 sec away from blowing his tire / Achilles
