First time I've seen one of your videos and it earned a sub from me. Thanks for being super thorough, very clear, and providing great game play examples to back it all up. It's been a long time since I've played an ice crystal beam setup even though I've been a wizard for 99% of the time I've played DI. I'll be checking out this build!
I thought I was the only Wizard playing this build as well (second one I saw last night was Wiztard) .. Honestly I've been always playing beam/crystal , combined with these 2 sets + all the dot gems + helm it makes it insane.
It gets even better with the higher your armor pen/potency you have. People are really sleeping on this one I am top kills and assists almost every game, killing people off-screen all the time. It gets even better with voice when playing ROE.

Thanks for the build! Have always run Wizard/Sorcerer. Tried out the build have all slots awaken 1954res Viper, Bloody Reach, Pain Clasp, Lament, Unyielding, Beserker, Everlasting torment and trickshot. I must say the build absolutely melts. Any level. I'm usually up against 3-7k resos and provided they have no "Immune to damage" buff their health just melts away. Great video and build.

Yeah full dmg setup I've always run completely awaken and just utilising the best gems for maximum % dmg increase. Ive capped out at like 2450res with a level 6 chipped but feel like the damage isn't massive.

Nice vid as always, but regarding the build itself i think when you have a good player, say on BK or DH on the enemy team, that knows how to deal with backline, you are not going to be super impactful cuz you will have to constantly be thinking about how not to die from them, cuz, as you mentioned yourself many times in the vid - it's GIGA squishy.
100%. Coordination with frontline and judging when to engage/disengage is key. Its a classic glass cannon style with good cc if there's a chance to channel laser. If one wants to survive or tank a few hits then this is definitely not the build one should play. Better go for Barb/Crus/BK. Really anything but this 🤣
I saw someone using this build last week so i just tried it last night before watching your video today. I don't have the helm slow time essence and I still went 9 kills 1 death. Sadly, you're right about the front line. I didn't have any front line to help push the idols so even though i had MVP, we lost. I'd get some kills but then I'd get charged and have to retreat.
This build melts though. I have 4 pc angmet, 2 pc banquet, and 2 pc vithus because i haven't built 4 pc grace yet. Incomplete build and still melting players with only 1310 reso lol. Can't wait to finish out the build.
Haha glad to hear it! Yes it melts! You have to play a little cautious and always watch the position of other players both in your team and on opponent team. Good luck!

A hug from Brazil, I started playing this week. I'll do it like yours. However, there are a few items and gems that will take me a while. for example bloody jade can I replace it with a 2 star jade? I know it won't be as efficient
Welcome! I made this build before the release of the tempest class. It was working very well for me but because of tempest CC stuns and fast gameplay it might be harder to play glass cannon style but you can try it and see how it is!
Feel free to replace the gems with what you can find. There are also many options I explained at 9:20. You can find many 1* and 2* cheap alternatives that will work well with this build 😊

I kind of disagree with the %Damage Ancestral ability though. Dealing Damage invocations with the stun might suit you better, even with off screen damage. DD invo stun procs on the target, not on the player, so even from ranged if something ticks on them it could cause a stun. But you would have to farm out those invocations I suppose so it's a bit of a time sink + annoying to get stats that work. Although to be fair, 6x DD invo's is worth running even with some undesirable stats.
Nothing is more annoying than 6x Invo stun with a 20 second CD and full tremor family with a 13 second CD, hahah.
I don't think I would drop Armor Pen to pick up potency, honestly I'm fairly certain HP is still factored into the Match Making process, especially in Legend bracket where resonance slowly becomes to be taken out of the equation completely(at least according to Blizzard, who knows what's real and what isn't), but even if it isn't the Life nodes in the Paragon trees immediately lose value when you step into a BG and lose a ton of HP.
Imo there is nothing more important than secondary stats at the moment, you'd probably be served better taking some out of +HP and adding to Potency or other secondaries since they at least do not take any type of compression or penalty just for having them in a BG.

Yes, those pathethic nabs who shout stay on idol! Im so sick of em fkin neanderthals lmao. There are classes who can stay and tank the idol and the rest, and deff wizz with this build and some dh build cant do it. Nice video mate, keep up the good stuff!

This looks fun but kinda unreal in matches with high reso, considering bks,barbs,dhs usually annoy backlines. But great it works for you
I am pretty sure you know about it, but just wanted to confirm. Max CDR for any skills is 30%. Your Ice Crystal currently sits at 18.6 + 10 + 10 which is 38.6. DOn't you think it might be better to move one of those Ice Crystal awakenings to improve other skills?
You're 100% right! It's too bad the awakenings in the offhand are completely useless since they buff electrocute and its almost never advisable to use primary attack in this build. It is advisable to have 1 awakening on crystal cooldown (chest or pants) as well as the 18.6 from essence. That only leaves 4 potentially useful awakening slots (helm, shoulders and mainhand). I should have taken my 5th awakening and put it in the last mainhand slot for the extra 10% reduced energy consumption which would allow me to channel for a little longer. Thanks for pointing this out I was testing out trickshot gem and missed this while editing!
As always, great video. I'm curious about how the new essences will affect this. The disintegrate one is pretty nuts.
Have been slacking a bit recently but trying to farm that essence to test it! That essence seems to be an auto aim beam from what I can tell so I'm not sure how well it would work with Ice Crystal. I'm sure it will some use in pve though and possibly pvp
@@Mao_DI I'm curious about how it will work in combination with rampant and inscrutable, as in effect you have 2 additional primary type attacks. Could be potent? Magic missile, disintegrate and lightning nova all hammering one target. And then the dancing lightning essence as the icing on the cake? Glass cannon possibly. Could be good. Could be terrible. PvE could be fun.

Both good choices but personally I would take BH since you got it all the way to rank 6 (if it was r4 or lower then viper would probably work better).
Slow time works as a buff skill here and for optimal play you should always be pressing it just before doing your damage rotation with disintegrate. This means that you should get decent value out of the BH in this build both in terms of its effect and increased reso over viper

Was using arcane wind without slow time with the latest arcane wind main hand with this before but I'll try the slow time variation next time

i tried this build 10 games. 1 W - 9 L. but always most kills. 2500 reso
Damn that's bad luck! As with most Wizard builds you need to have a team with a decent front line that is able to push/defend the idol while you kill everything

My highest resonance is 3.6k. I personally don't like to be tied to play with suboptimal 5* gem setup gems like zwensons, howler and echoing shade that I have in that setup. I know auxiliry gems is an option but i dont have the copies and I rather not invest in them especially when those copies are scarce and a 1* or 2* optimal setup is cheaper (at least on my server market). If this is classed as 'smurfing' then call me papa smurf! 🤣

Hard to answer. My highest apen gem is rank 7. I have sacrificed a lot of armor to maximise apen as well as going for it in paragon tree nodes. I also actively trade gems on my server's market to priorize for cheap blue gems. Hope it helps!

Funny you didnt show your 4.5 armor penetratation. Also alot of 3 or 4k ress player are fooling the matchmaking by lowering the ress so yeah...
Suggest you watch the video or at least look at the timestamps..I have nothing to hide. All my secondary stats are shown at 15:55 in the timestamped section named "Paragon tree/Secondaries". My highest sapphire gem is rank 7. I am using sapphire in every single slot except 1 as well as having 2 blue rings. So I have sacrificed a lot of armor to maximise apen as well as going for it in paragon tree nodes. I feel like this helps since I'm playing an offensive style rather than defensive. Armor and Armor penetration is also taken into consideration in the matchmaking at least according to the patch notes from few months ago. If you want to "fool the matchmaking" then maybe going for rank 10 potency/resistance with low resonance could work but this is not what I'm doing here
As for resonance, my max resonance is 3.6k. I am "lowering resonance" by about 2k because the 5star gems for my reso setup are a very bad effect for pvp (Zwenson/Howler/Echo shade). I know auxiliry is an option but they will only be rank 1 effect and I don't have all copies of 5* gems I want to use for example Maw of the deep. This build also benefits greatly from awakened gems for cooldown and energy reduction for channeling so having 1 or 2* gems helps with that like I mentioned in the video. This build won’t work for 5k and higher. You will be fodder for dhs, bks, barbs and necros.
I am playing with low resonance as you can see and my max reso is something like 3.6k with suboptimal gems so admittedly I cannot test how it performs with higher resonance. I don't think its exactly what you're implying but it sounds like a wild idea to me to say that a build would perform better with 1k resonance than 5k or more (assuming gems and secondary stats are optimal for both reso's). It is a squishy build on an inherently squishy class regardless of resonance (of course higher reso will boost health so it helps a bit). For my reso bracket at least the advantages of the build (high damage and cc on multiple targets) outweigh the disadvantages. You have to remember that if a BK/DH/Barb/Necro is "wasting time" to chase you so far away from idol it is also helping your team in a way and if you put players in a bad position it makes them an easier target to kill by your teamates
@@Mao_DI Sure, but when you hit 3500+ and you have to deal with 5k+ in every match, it's going to be rough using a build where you have to stand in place to attack.
I'm approaching 4200 and like 1000 pts ahead of the next closest wiz. Won't even think of using beams again and I was good at it prior to the meteor freeze build.

U playing against low res that build is trash
Suggest you give it a try for a few matches and see for yourself. Sure some players in the first clip can be considered low reso but I'm playing with even less reso than them. On legend rank 30-40% of the matches I get are whale matches. It's a little unrealistic to expect to carry those matches but I find if played correctly I still perform well and can be useful to my team. A few whales in those matches are usually surprised about my reso and also message me about my build. There are also good 5* options which I have talked about at 10:25 so your can play with as high reso as you like

Tbh m8 this build won’t work for a everyone, as a lot of wizards don’t position anywhere near as well as u do. And end up getting jumped.
