When he said that I went 😦
Hands down teachers pet was such a smart song on this album because the purpose is to make you feel uncomfortable so that people understand that those types of fake relationships with older people manipulating the younger student is not ok
FACTS
Teacher's pet is by far one of my favourites because of the metaphors in the lyrics themselves, and the symbolism in the video (ie, abusers make you feel small and powerless, in the lyrics she goes back because she feels like there isn't anything else, etc)
“She didn’t put as much effort into her lyrics” boi must’ve not heard it right-
She literally spent like 4 years on the album
NotDiego Time being spent =/= effort
@@Ahmet-ho5mu You couldn't be more wrong. If you spend years working on the same thing it literally means you're doing it to put all your effort on it, cause you want it to be perfect or al least close enough to how you wanted in the first place. I'm not sure if you don't know anything about hard work or about her.
mapa del alma
Me when no concentration or productivity
Bud I can sit around all day "studying" only to get a D+ besides the product already shows everything and even if there's an effort it clearly wasn't enough
@Ahmet
Just because it’s not your type of music doesn’t mean that effort wasn’t put in. Do you hear music like this often? No? That’s because the genre/style/storytelling format is not meant to fit into the mainstream music type. Just because something is different doesn’t make it bad. I’m sure she could make music with lyrics written the way most popular music is written but that’s not where her interests lie. I for one love that she approaches music differently than most.
I really enjoyed how everyone was uncomfortable with teacher's pet, I'm sure that was the point
Idk how but I wasn't really uncomfortable with it? I mean, I was for a moment thinking about the fact that I'm still in high school, but other than that, I somehow didn't have a problem with it
Hoseok Stan J-HooOoOoOope!
I wasn’t uncomfortable either because its common and people are ignoring how girls are having to start families in high school because they had teachers that used them and made them feel small. They were used and are so traumatized at this point :(
Hoseok Stan Same!
That's how you know that is working. If you as a man who does that kind of thing and you felt guilty,.then it is effective.

I love Melanie so much
She is so generous
The difference between the girls reactions and the boys reaction to songs like strawberry shortcake and Orange juice is so differnt. Like the girls were talkung about how it has an important message and the guy in the blue shirt was just like "theres definitely a lot of metaphors here". Instead of focusing on the moral of the song, he was talking about how she refered to her body as a strawberry shortcake. I think he just didnt get the main ideas. Like in oj when he was just like "ew", instead of realizing how harsh and real eating disorders are.
Edit: no hate, im just trying to point out the difference if perspective between boys and girls
So basically that everyone thinks and interprets things differently? Dont think melanie would appreciate someone judging others for their own interpretations of her work
@@alextorres5467 i literally said no hate
@@alextorres5467 didn’t they say no hate
@@alextorres5467 thats the issue tho, we dont see the two guys (red and blue shirts) actually digest and interpret the song. “oh theres a metaphor here” yea obviously shes not singing about literal cake, now what do You think shes actually singing about? Obviously throwing up OJ is gross and awful but what message do you think shes sending by showing that? we dont get any deeper thought or connection from them which is sad and says a lot abt how ppl can lack understanding or sympathy for any experience they havent gone through even when its laid out for them like this.
I’m a guy who loves Melanie’s songs and after listening to strawberry shortcake and orange juice I just want to say y’all girls go through so much and for what-
Melanie put so much work into k-12 and these people dont really understand how much work she put into the lyrics, choragraphy, cinematography, costumes, she literally directed k-12.
SHE LITERALLY MADE IT HERSELF! AND PEOPLE STILL HATE ON HER IT IS SO MESSED UP
THIS IS SO TRUE AND IT’S PRACTICALLY MAYBE HER GREATEST MASTERPIECE
And millions of dollars
i know. she’s not like any other artist, honestly (that sounds so fucking pick me, but hear me out) her music hits another level, and the story in the movie is another level.
Melanie covers issues about government, sexual harrasment, eating disorders and more in the most artistic way! She's one of the artists that should be spotlighted! She's really brave for doing this!

In my own opinion, I think what the ending rly meant is the reason why crybaby didnt wanna go to the other side of the door is because she knows that theres still people who's stuck and not gonna be able to go with them. Shes afraid and concerned because those ppl might go through the same difficult road that crybaby has gone through. I mean yeah the ones left behind are the bad ones, but whats the point? Crybabys not gonna be able to live with the guilt if ahe left them, instead she doubted and wanted to help those ppl be a better person because she sees the good in them..

Why did they focus so much about “strawberry shortcake is about body issues!!!!” When it was literally calling out objectification and the very real and physical consequences of not teaching against objectifying women? That’s a much more important topic and it’s kinda shitty that that wasn’t addressed.
OMG, yes, orange juice is way more focused on body issues, strawberry shortcake is calling out our shitty society
When no one realizes Melanie isnt playing as herself and is playing a character called Crybaby-
Crybaby is her emotional side of her personality. When her first album came out, she did an interview explaining that
Crybaby is supposed to be a side of her. Her emotional side.
I think Crybaby is heavily based on Melanie
Crybaby is Melanie's emotional side
Melanie still said she wanted to separate herself from crybaby
I am well-acknowledged that Melanie Martinez’s K-12 lyrics are “under the nose” or a bit “lazy” as one of the reactors have said.
But it was actually intentional for Melanie Martinez to write it like that.
Melanie herself during the Cry Baby era that her second album would involve Cry Baby being the narrator of K-12.
So those lyrics in Wheels on The Bus and Class Fight, Lunchbox Friends that may seem like cheesy are actually meeting with Melanie’s purpose which is Cry Baby being the narrator of the K-12 era
That guy who said I won't be sticking around to watch it, probably felt attacked by strawberry shortcake. 🤣
