Thanks to the upheaval in ubisoft recently, I have sneaking suspicion that the original breakpoint pitch is a totally different game then the one that came out. Imo, breakpoint would have worked better if it was not a ghost recon game but its own IP.

When Breakpoint was announced my first thought was "This is too soon" and then I saw the gameplay and my entire gut just twisted and my love for the franchise died that day. Ghost Recon has hilariously fallen from grace and I hope that the remastered versions of the old games which have been "teased" are good. Been saying since GRAW 2 that they should remaster the games with either the GRAW system or the GRFS system but keep it realistic and the games would be great! it wasn't until Breakpoint did everyone realize how good Wildlands was. I remember alot of people calling this game mediocre or average or even disappointing. Sure, there are (alot of) repetitive moments, but all in all I liked it. Bolivia in this game feels much more alive than Auroa.
Though I wish some improvements that they made in Breakpoint was also patched here like the better movement.
If anything, I do agree that this isn't a Ghost Recon title. Just like how the current Rainbow Six: Siege isn't really a Rainbow Six title.

Breakpoint was a joke of a sequel to wildlands, the thing I always thought about wildlands was how much they could address in a sequel so I was pumped for preakpoint but give ME a break, that game is garbage and added nothing good, doubled down on story in a game no one gave a ahit about the story everyone skips the cutscenes and aurora is garbage as well the compounds are all the same and you end up spending 90% of the time either in a helicopter or scaling up or down mountains. The game is just paper thin beyond your loadout

I recently uninstalled breakpoint and went back to wildlands, and I'm having much more fun. Personally, I feel that wildlands is more realistic and believable than breakpoint. Sure it isn't perfect but the atmosphere and world make the game feel much more alive. I do wish that the gear looked more authentic though. Although the enemies may be repetitive, they are what I expect to see from a militarized cartel. Breakpoint's enemies feel like something out of the division and less of what I expect to see in a ghost recon title. Even the way they fight is similar to the division. Overall, wildlands feels much more complete and diverse to me and I definitely believe that it's worth it in 2020. It's a fun game to play with or without friends. The AI teammates aren't the smartest but there's ways of using them effectively

Story and mission design wise, I guess there're enough room for the player to approach the missions in ways to make them more challenging or interesting.

Or better yet the story itself in wildlands was WAY ahead from breakpoints pointless story set on an island that should make you feel like you are legitimately being hunted when really you’re not, like how can I take breakpoint seriously when a pack of wolves who are supposedly the “most elite type of enemies who can combat ghosts easily” somehow manage to easily get killed with a few bullets like regular enemies, or better yet just killing them by running them over with a broken down bike... on hard difficulty🤷🏻‍♂️

Here's my two cents: When I was younger, I spent countless hours playing the SOCOM series. To me, Wildands is like a modern version of SOCOM. Sure it lacks some of the features SOCOM had, like commanding your fireteam or some of the unique humor SOCOM had, but overall for me it's a great game and especially if you get paired with good players in CO-OP.
What I like about about Wildlands:
    1.Your team's humor.
    2. The line: "What are you a SEAL? Because I don't know any quiet professionals that need something like that"
    3. Sync shot.
4.Walking through a small town or village with no mission or objective and a firefight breaks out with the cartel.
    What I don't like:
    1. Your teams inability to conserve ammo. (or hit targets for that matter)
    2. Unidad and the Cartel are sandbags and absorb all bullets.
    3. The rebels can be useless at times.
    4. The enemy always seems to know where you're hiding even if you haven't been spotted.

I started playing as a sniper, lettting my teamates do most of the close combat, if that got boring I switch it up for a more close and personal approach. My last playthrough I was doing a no hud tactical roleplay on the hardest settings. Honestly, this game would've gotten more love if the whole thing was done in the "Fallen Ghosts" DLC vein.

The game has tons of missions and side missions which will keep you occupied for months. The storyline missions are very well done which really kept me intruged every time I felt kinda burned out. I only felt burned out because of how many of the missions I had to do, and I tried to rush through. Definitely take your time with the game and enjoy it. This game could also act as GTA where you can cause havoc and waves of enemies come, but be careful because you can be easily overwhelmed. I had gotten pretty burned out before since I'd literally done every mission dozens of times, but switching to a no-HUD, realistic role play has really reinvigorated the game play for me. I'm also not leveling up any damage resistance/vehicle damage stuff to make it even more challenging. Honestly, firefights are way more intense now than they were back when I first started the game. I got wildlands a whole 3 years ago when it first game out, I got it around September or so and man oh man was it a experience. When I first started out there was so much to do, I mainly got it because my friends kept telling me to get it so I could play with them. And my first mission i ever did was with them and they made me put it on extreme difficultly. So after that mission I forget I had it on extreme so I play through the entire game on extreme without even noticing. And man it was hard but it made it so much fun. I made a whole ton of memories playing with them in that game for months and even a year. When the first spec ops update came out it got me so excited for. The amount of support and love Ubisoft gave to this game post launch made me really happy. It is without a doubt one of my favorite military shooters out there. With the amount of customization, places, unlockables, skills, stories and special items to collect like Sam Fisher's goggles and Caveria's gloves made it so much fun. And speaking on that, the cross overs they had in this game was definitely fan services for fans of Ubisoft games. This game for me is a definite 9/10. Considering there were some bugs and things that annoyed me throughout the game. Especially the ways I could die in Ghost Mode. But other than that, it is a solid game. One of Ubisoft's best.

I think one of the main reasons people utterly despised Breakpoint was that Aurora was lack luster of any civilians and feels rather dead, because the island is under one giant curfew.
