Thanks for the video! I found this video through the Turku video. What caught my eye was the ship Albanus you had on your video. Immediately I was reminded when in 2002 I was living in Turku, and I edited a video that featured a group of musicians traveling on this ship around the Swedish and Finnish archipelago and performing at different ports. Little did I know back then that in 2003 I would move to the US, and I would still be living in New York in 2024...
Genuinely curious, what vibe do Ålanders have with Finland and Finnish-speaking Finns? I’ve read that Ålanders are grateful for their autonomy and actually don’t mind being Finnish citizens but it’s honestly hard to find extra info regarding the islands!
I cant speak for all Ålanders, but the one I spoke with Loved having autonomy. But he also said back in the day they really wanted to be apart of Sweden since they felt closer to them culturally with language and a few other things. But he said in the end they are happy now. So I believe it really depends on the Ålander, I cant speak for all of them you know? Ill be going back again to find out more info and make more videos about Åland :)
