  • Having correct posture while sitting at a desk, in a car, or even at home, can help prevent pain in many areas. Using a seat cushion can help improve posture & protect areas of the body while sitting. Buy a socket seat cushion at amzn.to/38ueS3a (affiliate link)
    To help relieve pain while sitting and to improve your sitting posture, make sure your hips and knees are at about a 90 degree angle. This is allows you to have good posture and distribute the weight evenly throughout your body.
    Also, when you are sitting, you want to keep your feet flat on the floor. If you are shorter, you can use a stool or box to make sure your feet aren't dangling down.
    You also want to have a good neutral position in your low back area. Using a seat cushion, like the Socket Seat Cushion from Aylio that I’m using in the video, is a great way to have support in your spine and keep you in an upright position. Using a cushion is an easy way to help your back gets the support it needs while maintaining correct sitting posture.

    I meditate sitting on a hard chair that is mostly comfortable except occasionally there is pressure on the "sit bones" that I could do without. I'm thinking about trying the cushion for my meditation practice. Thank you 🙂

    I’m definitely saving up to buy one of these pillows. I can’t sit on any chair for longer than 5 minutes without having excruciating sit bone pain. If it’s padded (like a office chair) can make 10 minutes. It’s something that bothered me so much I try to avoid situations that I will be sitting and not aloud to get up. Like theatres, restaurants. Even afraid of meeting or the idea of going back to college for a career change because I can’t sit for that long. School has always been torture for me. Just because of the sitting. I try to move my legs and squirm in my seat often but those movement become way to painful too.

    Hi Doctor Jo! I’ve experimented with different cushions because I have coccydynia and arthritis in my hips (knees too). I started having more issues with discomfort when teleworking more over the past year. I finally found a good ergonomically sound chair for home, but I’ve had mixed results with cushions. I’m going to try the one you’re recommending. Thanks also for all your other great videos which have helped me manage symptoms and keep active. Be well!

    That cushion looks super comfy right now. What would be a good way to spread my hips out in preparation for delivery if I'm a little narrow? I'm sitting on a bundle of yarn in my computer chair, and I try to sit over the seat when going to the bathroom, instead of nestled into it. What other things would be helpful?

      Thanks. It often takes several weeks of consistent therapy to start feeling better when you have arthritis, so it might take awhile.

    I've been sleeping at an upright angle for a few years now and now I have this pain on my tail bone when I sit at a certain angle. Any suggestions of what I could do?

      Hey, my fiancée has to sleep like that sometimes. He uses a XXL Husband pillow. If you Google it, it should come up. It’s a backrest pillow with arms. I hope this helps. And I hope your able to get some relief😊

    now if they made that with a lift under the bum, that would be better. Because if you slouch, the backside compresses and you are also going to sink backwards. Which creates a curving in on the chest and and inner thighs get really tight. How do I know, becuase Ive tried many of these types of cushions before. Nice for tailbone relief tho' :)

    LOVE Your Channel Watch It All The Time A Little Off Subject But I Am Miserable & Reaching Out To Anyone So Back In June I Received Two Steroid Shots In Both Knees For Arthritis Well As Soon As I Left I Had & Have Severe Ankle Pain That Is Making Short Walks & Errands Miserable. Its On The Side & Back Of Ankle Sometimes It Stays There Other Times Shoots Part Way Up Or All The Way Into My Hip & Thigh Where One Doctor Said I Had Bursitis Another Said It Was It Band Syndrome As Well Thou I Think Both Are The Same & No One Seems To Know Why Severe Ankle Pain After The Steroid Shot Anybody Have This Happen Before Thank You
