The reason you have not been marking on the back side of your material is because you didn't study needlework in high school.

Thanks for recommending this video its so helpful! The little lines you mark all the way around the shape you are drawing are they what's called match marks? If so, how do you work out where they go?

Yes I call them match marks but some people call they tailors marks, most seat covers will already have match marks on you will see them when yo take the cover off the seat, if the cover that you are taking apart dose not have them on, you should put them on before you unpick the cover.
