It is nice to see that you use "We" when you are talking about how Joel and Ellie were going through all that what happened. That shows how strong bond this series has managed to create between you and the main characters and I loved it.

I love the safety that joel represents to ellie, when she escapes that terror and is all alone in the snow. He’s her safe place. And I feel that pedro is that kind of person irl (he even tweeted once that he will always be there for those who feel like ‘others’).

David was a wolf in sheep's clothing. He went after completely innocent people that just wanted to live their lives and pretended to be like them but he was really just a sick monster. He even tricked them into eating their own without them knowing. Scott Shepherd did a great job acting him

A lot of people playing the game did not like the implied R*pe attempt on Ellie. This episode is almost directly word for word from the game. I bare no ill will toward the actor; he was doing a great job. The character on the other hand; one of the worst people ever.

It's funny with every reaction of this episode how people roll their eyes when the girl calls for killing Joel and Ellie, then cheer when Joel and Ellie go on killing rampages. These random people (for her) killed the girl's father, it's not that weird that she'd say that.

To your comments about how you the people they fight are like, starting it.
The people David sent to the town who attacked Ellie/Joel are literally starving to death. They were running out of food in a harsh winter and Joel had a horse. And Alec was a father and husband and was willing to kill Joel in order to provide for them. Like, its fucked up. But if Ellie and Joel were starving, Joel would be out here doing the same sorta shit if he had to. Because we know he already DID that in the past with tommy/tess.
And as for the people in the town that are mad about it.... why would they care if Alec started it? Especially his daughter? In grief and rage you don't operate from rationality, and all that girl likely knows is "These people murdered my fucking dad" and even if she knew he struck first.... "These people murdered my fucking dad" would likely be the main thought regardless.
Ultimately in The Last of Us, everyone is just looking out for their own tribe, and are seemingly willing to commit horrific violence in order to achieve those ends.
Except David. Fuck David. All my homies hate David. Man is pure evil.

It was a great episode, but man did the game's version blew it out of the water...
I was mainly dissapointed by the decision to give David a preacher/cult leader vibe to him... It feels really tropey.
In the game, all of that whacky cult stuff isn't there and David's creepy intentions towards Ellie are far more subtly conveyed (there's no "the fighting is the part I like the most" line, for example, which is too obvious of a sentence).Plus, in the game, the player, as Ellie, gets to spend much more time with David before the "everything happens for a reason" moment (you fight some infected alongside each other), so it really feels like a gut punch when it's revealed that David can't be trusted ('cause during that gameplay section with the infected you as a player start to trust and rely on him).
I am pretty much with you as well but I think maybe the whole preachy/cult thing maybe is kind of like a bit of “foreshadowing” the even creepier and more powerful cult that exist in this world.
While I too liked the game’s version better, David was already a religious figurehead in the game. What they changed was making him not actually believe it in the show, as well as not having the whole town already know about the cannibalism and paedo stuff. Also, the game originally was much clearer with what he was going to do to Ellie, but they decided it was too much and removed most of it, hence her “He tried to-!“ line.
He ALWAYS had the religious cult leader vibe.
The GAME had the Biblical quote banner: When we are in need, he shall provide.
That was NOT an addition the show made.
And the game DOES have Ellie say:
"He tried to..."
REMEMBER, the game was rated for TEN YEAR OLDS so had to be "subtle". The show is 16+ and had more freedom to be more explicit.
