Hi and thanks for the comment. The port really is in at the doorstep of the City which is fantastic. Not sure what your itinerary is but we're just finishing off a similar video for Airlie Beach which we hope to upload soon. Airlie is a tender stop but the crossing is only around 15 minutes. If your cruise includes Airlie Beach you might be interested in that one too. Thanks again for dropping by.
Hi. The answer to your question about the shape of cairns lagoon is in a shape of the state of Queensland. Like a triangle. Thanks for all your info. 😊
Nicest place for snorkeling is Fitzroy Island, they have several boats per day, not just early morning/late afternoon. It's closer than the further reef, but still lovely. Full day reef trips are nice if you have the time. The mudflats also look much nicer when the tide is in. I have lived in Cairns for over 40 years, and the changes over that time have been enormous. Covid has shut down a lot of attractions unfortunately. If you're unlucky enough to be stopping in later in the year, the heat and humidity will probably give you a less than pleasant wander around, but believe me, when the rains start, it will be totally green!
Hi Robyn. We have ben to Cairns many times and I (Rob) used to go up there regularly in my previous job. Love it up around the Cairns region. We absolutely agree with everything you say though, particularly the humidity and the rain. We did pick up a brochure on Fitzroy Island from the tourist centre and couldn't see any timings that would fit for a 1 day stop but might look at that again then. Thanks
owww have just come across this video, very very interested in watching :) were going to cairns and airlie beach on a cruise in 2024 and was thinking of just doing our own thing, so im going to enjoy this video :) thanks for making it :)
Hi Debbie. We have another one in Cairns ready for release on River Tubing which we organised ourselves but you can do from the ship. We have also put another one up about Airlie Beach and some things to do on your own there. Also, we are off back to Airlie Beach, Cairns and Port Douglas on Sunday on the Luminosa and will be doing some more Port Days videos about the things we do there. Hope these all help to give you some ideas of things to do.
@@robandalicruisetravel awesome sounds great :) if you end up going to kuranda and the sky rail and market up there we would be very interested in watching :) hope you have a fantastic time :)
@@robandalicruisetravel were actually going on our second cruise ever next Monday on the pacific adventure on a 4 night cruise to morteon Island :) really looking forward to it :) getting really excited :) not sure what we will do on the island though as i had cancer twice and since my first operation i can no longer do the things i used to do. I now have a few physical limitations, so can't go sand taboggoning or scuba diving etc sadly. I was thinking of doing the glass bottom boat tour :) then maybe just hanging out at the resort, going back to the ship for a bit, then come back to the island later that night to see the people doing the dolphin feeding :)
hi guys, i have just rewatched this video :) i wasnt sure if you could help me with this answer or not..... our barrier reef cruise next year is on the pacific encounter and when we stop at cairns its almost 48 hours that we will be there. i was wondering if we would have to be back on the ship early the night we stay for eg. 5 or 6pm, or if we can go into cairns city and have dinner at a restaurant and drinks at a bar and go back to the ship 9pm?? or even better, book a hotel room for the night and stay there then head back to the ship the next day before it leaves the port? i havent found anyone who knew the answer to that question, so hoping that you may be able to advise :)
It's definitely on the To Do list Lisa, once we hit retirement and have the time in one block and at the same time. Enjoy and please keep us updated along the way.
Lagoon = Stingray or UK? I've swum there and been to Cairns many times. Zoo atop Casino is near Ship and good for a couple of hours. I'll maybe DIY to Kuranda Butterflies via Skyrail. Great restaurants near night markets on Esplanade. EYE is new, I'll do it. We're there on CP 13th Nov at 10am-9pm.
It is a sort of triangle. Think of what place (in Australia) is shaped like a triangle. We'll see if a few more people reply then I'll post the answer.
We did Hartley's Crocodile Farm - absolutely wonderful!
Thank you so much, will really help my Cairns Port Visit on Princesse
awesome video. Wasn't sure how close the ship docked so this is great. everything is so close. Thanks

Thanks Bob & Chris. We love Cairns too. Been there so many times and we never get bored of it.

Triangle.
Hi Gail. Turn the Google maps image 180 degrees and think of a place rather than a thing.
@@robandalicruisetravel oh ok, I googled it and it said triangle, but it is a stingray. Awesome video again
