Me and my friends were always more into Punk and Oi!, though I can still appreciate these cool old sounds. Maybe it's because our heyday was in the States during the 80's. I was a skinhead in 1969 and we didn't have tattoos covering our arms and the girls certainly did not or body piercings and to us veterans 2Tone was a sad copy of our music.
I was born in 66 to a black mother and Irish dad. I used to hear my mams ska music and think it was for old people. Then In 78/9 two tone came and changed my life. It was a revival of 69 but getting older i learned about ska/reggae skinheads rude boys etc. Still love the style and music today.

Although the early lads mixed well with their Jamaican counterparts a lot of racism was directed at the Indian and more so the Pakistani communities in the day, even a lot of the west Indians did not like them very much, sad fact but true.
