My mum loved this band every song they did she listened to made her happy. I'm a fan myself brings tear to my eyes whenever I listen to this song an remembering her
These kind of comments make me sad. As a Gen-Xer myself, I find that there is still and always has been AMAZING music in every decade that I have lived through. You just need to go research things more.
Listen to the music of the past and remember how good life actually WAS. Then, with all of your heart, will it to be so again. Don't let them enslave us with their lies!
Was 13 when this came out. A happy childhood without knowing what crap would happen in this world in the coming years. Both personally and in this ( at times ) toilet world we inhabit. God bless innocence.
Literally feel like I have a yoyo in my hand and too much hairgel in my badly cut wig.. 1980 baby here so similar age to you bud.. Gotta love the 90s!!
LOL I completely agree with the sentiment and I know what I am for saying this but, doing the math, weren't you about 4 when this came out in 1989? OK, I'll see myself out.
I remember hearing this one time in the pub in EastEnders-when Grant Mitchell was there too! Also, the album this came from was given the top five star rating in Q magazine when it came out too-and why not indeed?! Wonderful music-thank you too!
My fave song of '97, was working security in a desolate place, going through relationship meltdown and this flashed on the nitetime radio, very uplifting.....
Scouser growing up as a kid in the 90s with these, the Las, cast and space was such an underrated era for liverpool music shaped my life and I write my own stuff now! Such inspiration and Ian Broudie was a part of that
OMG! I remember this song when I was a teenager in the 1990s! For some reason I thought I'd play that song when I was waiting for a train at a London tube station. That horn sound played during the chorus sent a massive shiver down my spine! I forgot how awesome how music sounded before the likes of the X Factor took over and started ruining it!
Amazing band. Loved dancing to their tunes with my sister back in the 90s. My favourite line here, "I should forget you but I won't be told." So true. :-)
This particular song has a wonderful balance of strong melodies. Its one of those pieces I wish I'd have come up with myself, its such a brilliant piece.
I always love Ian Broudie The Lightening Seeds .. all his music are phenomenal and I don’t care what people say, this is 2022 and I will always love Ian Broudie The Lightning Seeds forever ❤️
Brings back great memories from December 2016 when I saw them live supporting madness! They were fantastic. You forget how many great hits they had. 😍😍
Jolification; yes Lightning Seeds excellent; Liverpool band. Seen then live at packed out Riverside; Newcastle and at Catherine Cookson festival. Favourite group during Brit era. Up there with Blur, Oasis and Pulp. Ian Broudie also famous as a producer.
I was being bullied at school and my step dad was beating up my mother.. listening to the lightning seeds made it all better for that 5 mins I wasn't unhappy
WOW-WEE!! The guitars🎸🎸🎸 This is the brilliant song for name the celebrity on our local radio station 💞 absolutely brilliant fantastic, feel good song 💛💙💛💙💛💙 🥰🇯🇲🏴🕊️🔥✝️

Without doubt the greatest ever song about a lettuce.
Saw them recently… bit sad if the best song is a shitty football one
@@TheAdgester haha, I keep forgetting that exists, never had that on cd.
I thought it was about a sugar coated Iceberg 🤔😂
@@TheAdgester na there best song is pure, not the shitty football song which is actually quite good
😂😅😂

Everything is better when listening to the Lightning Seeds!!
So true ❤
Yeah man 👍
You can't stop moving when you listen to this tune an absolute classic
The 90's were maybe the last decade of great music.
I'm a big fan of 70's and 80's rock, but I also loved 90's indie music just as much.
Yeah it was all downhill after that. 60s and 80s music is the best though.
I love 90's indie too, but I am hopeful that there will be great music again some day
These kind of comments make me sad. As a Gen-Xer myself, I find that there is still and always has been AMAZING music in every decade that I have lived through. You just need to go research things more.
Absolutely banging tune......and no mistake.
A stunningly talented band. Ian Broudie is gifted and it shows.
@thenashman888 hoo is Steven?
No he didn’t. It was written by Broudie and Stephen Jones
Brilliant man , helped me navigate Tesco’s in Camden while I sang to him while looking for a prawn sandwich . X
My mum first told me about this song when I was very young. She liked it and told me to listen to it. Reminds me of her every time. Miss you Mum.. xx❤
"You were cheap, but I was sold". Fantastic line. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻❤️
Bring back the good days when music was all for fun not money.
I heard Life Of Riley on Union Jack yesterday and it inspired me to find this and Marvellous. They were a banging little band the Lightning Seeds!
Listen to the music of the past and remember how good life actually WAS. Then, with all of your heart, will it to be so again. Don't let them enslave us with their lies!
Still a fantastic song 2020 ....
Who is with me

Always makes you feel happy when you're driving with this playing
When I was a kid I always thought he sang 'sugar coated ice potatoes'. Even to this day, thats what comes into my head when I think about this song.
I'm 36 years old, and playing this song to my 7 week old baby daughter. I remember when this came out, and still love it!
Love it. I just dedicated their Pure to my first grandchild 💗
we grew up in the best time possible for music 😊

Nothing but 90's is an amazing cover band from Norwich! They're on Facebook too :)
Good song but if you listen to Electronic's ' Getting Away With It ' you'll notice the similarities between the two.
Couldn’t agree more 😊

When I was younger I kinda fancied the lady skater. I wonder if she ever made a career from ice skating.
Talking of which, does anyone know who the skater girl is from the music video?

Fantastic songwriter!
Lovely song
seen these on Sat at Barclaycard arena they was great
The first song I ever bought. On cassette. Still an absolute tune!
I don't care what songs you sing
Or how you think of all
Those pointless things
Sweet nothings what you bring
So fly away on sugar coated wings
I'm sinking deep i'm going under
That sugar coated iceberg tastes to sweet
Until you tumble, Those sugar coated lies
All those tricky things you said
On angel wings they're flying
Around my head
You were cheap but i was sold
I should forget you but i won't be told
I'm sinking deep i'm going under
That sugar coated iceberg tastes to sweet
Until you tumble, Those sugar coated lies
Sweet and sour, As gold and coal
A sugar iceburg stole my soul
And hid it deep inside my heart
Threw it through me like a poison dart
I'm sinking deep i'm going under
That sugar coated iceberg tastes to sweet
Until you tumble, Those sugar coated lies
My little sweet sugar coated iceburg
You melt beneath my feet
You shook me up, But then i tumbled
Those sugar coated lies
Such clever and marvellous lyrics even John Lennon would be proud of
Happy uplifting song 👍😀
