The singer is Ricky Lancelotti. He sadly died at the age of 35 in 1980.

Your reactions to the music of FZ which I've been listening to since about 1980 are quite sympatico. Without "deep classical composers analysis" but showing the fun you have when listening. Keep it up!
Zappa got that heavy string-bending effect from using a whammy bar, a device that's attached to the bridge-end of the strings.
Absolute favorite. What a crazy composition, and his guitar solo is killer! Right on!
"Dynamo-Hum" should be on your short list. It is dirty, dastardly, and vile. You will laugh you butt off. Band on the radio about 3 weeks after the album debut.
Add in Carolina Hardcore Ecstasy, another rude crude and musically delicious track...

During the years I was working on the 818_Pumpkin hotline, the most common frustration expressed by fans was consistently how to get the uninitiated listener to sit still and absorb enuff Fz to at least start to "get it". My suggestion involved tying them to a chair in a dark room, wearing headphones, and "LISTENING", without distraction to... 1) for lyrics CHE, (you said why perfectly), 2. for music, Strictly Genteel, from Orc. favorites, and best ever road-trip music the Yo Mama, wild love side of SYB. If you can get someone that far, play them Trouble Every Day from Freakout to show what He Really wanted to say if he could have attained people's attention span

Great reaction. Regarding instruments in use: trumpet (not pipe), trombone, vibraphone, alto and tenor saxes and clavinet plus the obvious.

It has fallen to me to inform you that having your mic on a table next to you is a bad idea, every cup set down adjustment and slide is picked up amplified and comes thru the audio louder than the video, those listening on headphone may be at risk of some type of cranial injury, Please rectify. The Zircon Encrusted Tweezers from the Montana song make an appearance in Dynamo Hum as a utensil for the removal of cooties. Any progress on the Tut cuss word front? Thanx!

would also suggest a deep dive into the amazing album cover. Frank valued the graphics as an equal to the music and the lyrics...and even if more digging is required to appreciate, the album covers and their backstories are bahhogulatingly good tales. ex. This, Uncle meat/BWS, anything by Donald Roller Wilson. Drowning Witch. Just sayinn...
