The Minty robot had those "bracelets" clearly there are external room cameras plotting the position of the arms.
Boston Dynamics just raised the bar impossibly high. But I am glad to see that this robot here too has its center of gravity at the chest. What a time be alive!

What is amazing to me is how people take elon at his word. Even more so because he has a long history of faking or just outright lying about the progress his projects has made. Fsd in 2016 and tesla bot folding clothes. And almost every tesla launch, which is always many years after the launch dates.
You know why there's a website bragging about how great this model is, because they likely don't have the actual model to do those things.
It's interesting that with so much advanced tech, they still have the ooldschool optical stickers to track the hands with cameras. I wonder if they're really still using that kind of tracking, or if they just didn't bother removing it after finishing setting up the joint encoders and vision systems and stuff...
Great info. A respectful bit of feedback. In the heat of explaining things, yoy scroll up and down through on screen texts very fast, so it difficult to read what's on a page.
At 11:20, if we consider the "stochastic parrot" and the physics student, there are two distinctions I think we can make currently. The student can absorb the ideas learned in that academic program and (theoretically) build upon them. In contrast, the current AI models do not innovate based on the information gathered but merely regurgitate the most likely response based on a statistical model.
One distinction we can make between AI and AGI is that current AI systems are unable to build new concepts based on existing data, but that's quickly changing.
I missed the Minty video, too. Terrible timing, but what a cool little dude. He's got a kinda gorilla or bear vibe, but seeing him walking around in the background in Star Wars would look reasonable. And yeah, like you said, for some reason he looks affordable, so I hope that's the case.
i really like this robot. the walking is natural looking because it makes its knees straight. it finally doesnt look like it has its dipers full while walking. honestly i would prefer this robot over many others, and that includes a lot of robots i have seen over time like hrp-4, asimo, petman, and yes also the tesla bot and atlas. well done, keep it up, this is a winner.

We are similar in the sense that our system 1 thinking is kind of an LLM chatbot, but as humans we also perform system 2 thinking or deep thinking, which LLM chatpots are not designed for (at the moment), that’s why they come across merely as stochastic parrots.

LLMs are good for language comprehension. Which is what they were made for. Agents are good for bringing things together and putting things in action... It feels like there is still something missing from the equation though. Maybe something like Sora that has a general comprehension of how reality works could be used for a more intuitive consistent type of cognition.
10:30 - Hallelujah. Finally someone else who thinks the same way about 90-95% of what human knowledge is - regurgitating existing material. The 5-10% of creativity is what makes us different from LLMs.

I think a lot of people will be surprised just how many of these sleeper companies exist and are on the verge of releasing their own versions of these humanoid robots. There are companies in China that have 35 million in stock waiting and collecting dust.

Different hands are no surprise. Industrial robots have done this for decades. We call them end effectors.

Even if a different architecture is needed to achieve AGI, I would still say that only adds two to three years to the timeline. When you have the biggest companies in the world going all in on AGI, they will solve it. I highly doubt we have more than 10 years before AGI.

AI is a knowledge tool. LLMs simply discover new information by trial and error just as nature itself has evolved. Not to be feared; but, used to improve human lives.

LeCun's statements are sensationalistic but not surprising: he said we won't achieve AGI next year and most researchers are aligned in that we'll achieve it by the end of the decade. He says LLMs are not the way to AGI because they don't have a physical world model to refer to, and indeed other companies are working on stuff like Sora exactly for that. I don't think there's anything strange about what he says, but the way he says it makes him sound like a contrarian. I think he's just jealous his LLM is not the best even if he is an AI Pioneer
