I think one of the crowning moments for Kagami is when he first transforms into Gattack, even when he said he wouldn't forgive the Worms for betraying him, he still fulfilled his promise to the kid mimicking Worm that he'll show him the night sky with the moon, and cementing to me that Kagami was the real protagonist all along.
Tendo can be considered a paragon. Someone already accomplished/OP and is only meant to elevate the people around him. For me Kagami is the true protag of the series and Tendo is only there to make him into a hero he truly is. That's why I didn't mind that Kagami inherited the Kabuto Zecter in Zi-O.
He is basically an old school Ace from Geats. And rewatching Kabuto recently i really dug that vibe. Ofcourse Ace is alot smoother and collected. Where as Tendou is a little more rough and bratty but still with a good heart and still has given us some of the funniest kamen rider moments with a completely serious face. I still chuckle every time i hear "If he is stronger, Then i am Strongest"
Usually protagonist came off weak although motivated and had to build himself as the show moves on, Kagami embodied that role, Tendou in the other hand had been build himself up to exactly the moment when he received his transformation off screen, he's more like mentor, so pretty much tendou had been there doing that in episode zero while kagami is coming into the story from episode 6 or something, there's gotta be skill difference of course but in the end Kagami proves that he worthy partner for Tendou. Its like comparing Obi Wan and Luke, Obi Wan had pass for being cool while Luke had to sit down and learn from him
People always say that tendou was boring because he was just an arrogant asshole. I say dont look at what he says to people. Look at his actions, When he refues to hit kagami,s brothers double and the one you mentioned. These instances proves there is alot more to him that meets the eye.
How ironic when Inoue himself also wrote some episodes of Kabuto. Seriously though, WTF was that Kiva arc? Also ironic when Inoue himself was the head writer for Kiva - _- Glad that the Kabuto arc is written by the usual writers.
I liked Kabuto a lot. It's the serie that got me into Kamen Riders. Hyper Kabuto is still my favorite final form for a rider. But what I really liked about it was that instead of showing how the main character evolves as the serie progress (let's face it, Tendou doesn't need to evolve, he's already the chosen one), it shows how other characters like Kagami and Hiyori evolve and change due to coming into contact with the Chosen one.

Dunno, but I always thought Tendou was quite charming. Sure, he kinda is a Gary Stu as he can almost do everything on his own even when it doesnt always make much sense for how competent he is.... But the dude is just so dorky yet brimming with so much confidence and legitimately coming off as a bad ass, that I cant help but like him. Easily one of my favorite main riders in the franchise.
Tendou is not a Gary stu. The only way you could think so is if you don't know what a Gary stu is or you aren't paying attention. The guy sucks as a person and is treated as such by most people. He doesn't communicate and that causes most of his problems with people.
Kabuto was good in the beginning, but the second half was pretty bad and rushed for me. In the other hand, the visual and special effects of Kabuto is one of my favorites

On one hand I never really liked Change Dragonfly and base Sasword. On the other hand while Hyper Cast Off Kabuto is weird bc it's even bulkier than normal the rainbow wings are lit asf.
Daisuke saying goodbye to Gon is still probably my favorite in not just Kabuto but Rider in general. I don't know why, but Daisuke just moving on after he realized she lost her memories is one of the saddest moments in the franchise but it has a bittersweet vibe to it that while she forgot who Daisuke was, she has her original life but it hurts that Daisuke will always remember her. I don't even think her regaining her memories ruins the scene in any way.
Think my favorite funny moment in Kabuto was during one of Daisuke's arcs (the one with the female Worm), where Tendou's little sister had asked him about love, and Tendou misunderstood that as his little sister having found someone she liked. The way he acted like an anime dad was hilarious to me, even if it lasted about ten seconds
I had to rewind that like 3 times the first time I saw it. It was SO funny seeing this perfect, untouchable, Gary Stu character genre, just COMPLETELY lose character and all testosterone in his voice at the idea of his little sister liking a boy.
I wish Marco would make a bonus video to talk about stuff like how Daiske was being framed and the riders attacked him, how one of the OP worms got hit in the head and the human memories took over and how she fell in love with Daisuke but that’s a dream that only time will tell
The Kabuto movie was good, it made the series make a lot more sense when Kabuto becomes Hyper Kabuto. Also, Hiyori in the movie is portrayed a lot better.
It is his fault. At least in the eyes of Toei. He dropped his agency to make his own. And it wasn't a mutual drop, it was an abandonment. That's why Toei blacklisted him.
My favorite rider series ever. I just love the idea of paramilitary group fighting alien lifeforms while having the riders as their ACE frontliners. It somewhat like 555 and im really diggin it. I noticed that alot of people are hating on Tendou about his personality, but for me i think its super fresh and i really like it. He has that OP anime protagonist vibe to it which is quite surprising since this "trend" wasnt very popular back then. Its biased but i enjoy "quirky" protagonist like these. Also his fighting style its very sleek and smooth, focusing on timing and counters, even his signature rider kick was based on it. Its quite similar to Agito's which are very graceful. Kabuto's style aint as practical and powerful but its still very nice to look at. Great characters and rider designs. And like i said about fighting style, every single riders has distinct fighting styles: Yaguruma fights like kickboxer, Kageyama fights like a boxer, and Kagami fights like a brawler similar to Faiz, its awesome. Also i love at how unpredictable the story were. On one episode we have a huge drama about fight to the death and identity crisis, then on the next episode we got some insane anime cooking competition with supernatural knifes and such
If it werent for Kagami, Tendou's Gary Stu'ness woulda been too unbearable. Also we had the main from 555's who was already a different type of KR protagonist (not the usual cheery happy go lucky kind type)
I watched Kabuto twice. Both times I felt that Kagami was the main character. We follow him as he discovers the world. Tendou might be the main rider, but Kagami remains the main character. It feels like a show from the perspective of the secondary rider and that's why I like it.
Kagami is the real "main rider" of Kabuto to me. He has the real heroic development in this show, while Tendou started as a hero and ended as one (even if he was an incredibly smug one). Also, I think lore-wise, isn't Gattack the strongest of all Kabuto riders? I only wish Hyper Gattack had actually appeared in the show, instead of being relegated to a hyper battle video and figure arts.
Im guessing you are one of those people that also think Tycoon is the MC of Geats. While yes he can surely be the main rider to you or anyone, He factually isnt. But thats the great part. They are changing the expectations that a kamen rider will be fresh off from the start, And yes while the origin point is an important part. I like the story telling of Kabuto, Geats. kiva and Build. Where we see an MC who has already started his journey. And we have other characters that can fill the "new guy that gains super powers" role. So i think we should stop expecting the MC's to be brand new to kamen rider, And accept that as long as we have someone to fill those shoes, It doesnt really matter. It gets kinda boring that every first episode has the exact same formula. Introduce MC and his gimmick. Introduce the threat. Becomes kamen rider. Wins and learns about what he must do. That fits for like 15 different kamen rider shows. Which is getting very very boring to deal with, As the first many episodes will just be "monster of the week"..
This show had me thinking Arata was the main character when, technically, the show is all about Tendou and that's kinda messed up as they continue that pattern, like following an NPC who keeps interacting with the main character. I loved it.
Tendou character perfectness is an intended one, to be a source of comedic scenes throughout the series, just like Barney Stinson in HIMYM. Thanks to his character we can have many absurd, funny scenes like the one how he ends up diagnosing the doctor instead.
The one thing I didnt like about this season was the fact that Dark Kabuto was introduced after Hyper Beatle and didn't have a final of his own. As hype as that Dark Kabuto arc was I knew he wasn't on tendo's level the entire time.
Gatack (Kagami Agata) is my personal favourite back then (Now it's Kisaragi Gentarou). His personal arc to his Gatack transformation was perfect! PERFECT! That transformation made a life long impact to me on a personal level.

22:00 The Hyper Zecter you see is the one from the movie. Since in the movie Tendou travels back in time and changes the futur, a new reality (the one from the show) is created. The hyper zecter from the show's universe is destroy but the one from the movie still exists and it's that one that Always comes to Tendou's aid. 23:00 The Kick and Punch hopper zecters were created by Kagami's father in secret because he didn't trust the Natives. The Natives being the other species of shape changing aliens who are secretly living on Earth. They were the ones who originally gave humans the technology to build the rider system and Zecters which is why they can summon any zecter they wish and transform into any rider so long as they have the rider gear to go with the zecters.
Kabuto was my first Kamen Rider series, and is always what I think of when I hear Kamen Rider. So I kind of subconsciously compare all other rider series directly to it.
I've been waiting for a loooon time for you to get this season. This was my first "modern" Rider series I ever saw....so it really stuck with me. TheBee is probably my favorite suit in the series. So damn clean and straight to the point. :)
Really enjoyed this review. I was in Japan when Kabuto aired. I introduced my brother to this particular series and Kabuto became his main favorite. Gatack is also my favorite in this series too.
Kabuto was the first Kamen Rider series I watched. I loved the designs, the powers, the storylines (the one with Daisuke was one of my favourite moments) and the fact that, unlikely previous tokusatsus I watched, Kabuto had balls to kill major characters (the death of Tsurugi was another of my fav moments). However, a big problem I had was with some/many WTF moments, like Tendou's belt getting repaired by itself, the other Riders' Zects just fusing on Kabuto for no reason and the Hyper Kabuto Zect re-appearing through space and time after being supposedly destroyed. My biggest issue was with the ending: I had to watch this video to actually understand who the heck was that Dark Tendou supposed to be. I had fun watching Kabuto. Ot was the series who introduced me to Kamen Rider. However, I'm not sure if I would recomend it as an introduction for a non-fan. Kamen Rider Build, on my opinion, would be a better recomendation as first series to a non-fan.
I'll admit that I did not like Tendou at first. But I saw that his arrogance was actually a zen like understanding of the world and it's that attitude that allows him to be ahead of the curve, as he can see the bigger picture. I want to say he's one of my favorites but almost every rider in the Heisei era has good qualities that make it hard to rank them in any order after my top three.
God I love this show! I especially like Tendou and Kagami, to the point where I collect their SHF and custom painting the Figurise Kabuto for Kabuto and Dark Kabuto Masked Form. Thank you for covering my favorite rider show ever, all hail to the man who walk the path of heaven.
Okay, I'm just gonna make one thing perfectly clear... I was also hooked with Kamen Rider Kabuto ever since I first got into Kamen Rider during my childhood years, and it has taught me things that I was too distracted and kept myself away from a while, which makes me feel I've been blind for not following these lessons that Kabuto showed to me. I was also heartbroken at the moments that had a despressive yet also heartbroken state, it's like the happiness that I had was starting to fade away whenever Tendou or Arata break down and I soon find myself breaking down as well, which is something that often happens whenever my life is a living hell. Plus, the designs for the suits and the choreography of the fight scenes looked so amazing that I was quite surprised that some future generations of Kamen Rider even followed along with this process, at least... That's what I think. So yeah, Kamen Rider Kabuto is a series that I look up to during times of depression or Kamen Rider watching, and it's also considered to be one of my all time favorite seasons of Kamen Rider. It deserves an A+, espically one from the one who walks the path of Heaven

This is the series that got me into Kamen Rider because my best friend introduced it to me and it's always been one of my favorite series next to ryuki faiz kiva and blade along with all the newer riders that come out so far
I found the whole series fascinating. I really liked Hiyori and how she was one of the reasons why Souji was fighting to protect people. Also Juka was Souji's cousin. There were also several past Tokusatsu guest stars on Kabuto. Including some Sentai actors. What's your Twitter???
Kabuto was my first Kamen Rider series. I really love it. It knows when to be goofy and when to be serious. Gattack is my all-time favorite Kamen Rider too.

Auuuuugh I was intending to let your histories sate my desire to watch but now I gotta watch it! *goes to watch Kabuto* But now I gotta look forward to see Den-O, my second rider series after Wizard.
you do not watch kabuto for the adventures of tendo, you watch it to see what the group gets into this time. the early episode where there's only one rider are IMO the weackes because tendo IS a mary sue. up to the halfpoint he never really have any foil; even tsurugi, the only one that somewhat reach his level, stops being a rival after his introduction. his greater loss until he's met with a litteral clone of himself is using a loophole so that he gets to keep the hyper zeckter and it is ok, because the whole cast keeps the thing going flawlessly even when there isn't much story (the anghst of the hopper for the sake of being anghsty, for one). it is a problem we'll see later with kiva, which tried the same thing didn't manage to suceed but one problem of the serie is the underusage of some established point: kabuto's toy launcher, used a whole of 3 times, one offscreen; gatack is the one that uses his cannons from masked form the most, and he still press the trigger less than 10 times, sasword coilwhip used twice, drake underwater functionality barelly more than just told us, all the masked forms hazmat funtionality, the hoppers having clock up in every single appearence in ancillary media but not in the serie proper also, the suspended points. the hopper zeckters just appears out of nowhere when tendo is taking possession of all the others, straight after an exchange with how this is upsetting the natives (that we already know, are the one that made the zeckters) and look like prototypes for something you build bulks of. never brought up. after mishima becames thebee once, the thing is forgotten regardless of the pressure previously placed onto the importance of having thebee in the first place, not even a word of being in search of a new guy for it. not too big on their own, but they compounds upon eachother

I wouldn't call the post 34 mark boring just some oddities I genuinely enjoyed the goofy moments in Kabuto that segwayed into much darker more serious moments

I almost squealed when you said Gatack was your favorite character from this show because Gatack is one of my favorite Kamen Riders so far. His suit, his character development, he was definitely the hero in my eyes. But Tendou was cool.
My first experience with Kamen Rider was with W, i was hooked instantly. it took some getting used to to get into Kabuto but it was a fantastic ride, i honestly did not like Tsurugi or Tendou at first but they grew on me and i was sad to see Trurugi go the way he did. I also didnt think i would like a suit more than W but KR Kick Hopper is my new favorite.
KR Kabuto was a realy good series but not without flaws, i think your video has realy good points, but yeah, the last part was so forgetable that until you mentieoned some of the plotpoints I couldnt remember any. Also Kabuto is so op that it fkd up any teamup/vs that includes him.
Kamen rider kabuto Pays homage to kamen rider black with its theme of the sun. Tendou considered himself chosen by the sun when his alternate self gave him the rider belt. He saw his alternate self as if he came to him from the sun giving him his fates. Although its never mentioned, I bet he was meant to receive glimpses of his alternate life as the savior of the world. Knowing hes the most powerful rider and the wielder of hyper zecter, shouldering the responsibility of being the guy whose chosen to save the world. All this ofc disregarding the awful native arc. Its not a part of the original intended story. The movie is the intended original story. If you didnt know the original head writer was fired cuz toei didnt like the script and replaced him with the worst kamen rider writer. So kamen rider kabuto is basically snydercut before the snydercut. Luckily however they kept the original story in the movie. We can only imagine whats the original story and the original ending of the series was meant to be.
If i have to guess though, after rewatching the first episode, it gives us a hint by showing how some characters were shone by the sun. Tendou, hiyori when she was first introduced, and weirdly tadokoro when he came at the end of the episode. I think these characters are shown to have some relation to the alternate timeline. As we know tendou got his belt from his alternate self, hiyori was exposed to alternate tendou's light when kid tendou received his belt. Granting her some degree of the alternate timeline. Its the reason how she can fixed tendous belt and maybe made it somewhat complete by touching it. Tadokoro i think was meant to have bigger role in the original storyline. If i have to guess hes a Native from the alternate timeline and hes meant to be the creator of the rider system from that timeline. He created the rider system to help humankind to be prepared of the coming comet and worms apocalypse. Having lived and witnessed the alternate timeline he knew who are the chosen people for the rider system. And when he went back in time at the same time as tendou did somehow, he possessed the information of the chosen people. This helps zect to better developt and better prepare knowing already who the chosen people going to be. Thats why they have all those old documents about tendou and kagami. But hear me out theres more.
Kagamis dad is the tadokoro from the alternate timeline. And dark kabuto was supposed to be tendou from the alternate timeline. But that story is scraped. Thats why the original script was deemed too dark. What was meant to be might be too heavy for children in japan.

My favorite rider series ever. I just love the idea of paramilitary group fighting alien lifeforms while having the riders as their ACE frontliners. It somewhat like 555 and im really diggin it.
I noticed that alot of people are hating on Tendou about his personality, but for me i think its super fresh and i really like it. He has that OP anime protagonist vibe to it which is quite surprising since this "trend" wasnt very popular back then. Its biased but i enjoy "quirky" protagonist like these. Also his fighting style its very sleek and smooth, focusing on timing and counters, even his signature rider kick was based on it. Its quite similar to Agito's which are very graceful. Kabuto's style aint as practical and powerful but its still very nice to look at.
Great characters and rider designs. And like i said about fighting style, every single riders has distinct fighting styles: Yaguruma fights like kickboxer, Kageyama fights like a boxer, and Kagami fights like a brawler similar to Faiz, its awesome. Also i love at how unpredictable the story were. On one episode we have a huge drama about fight to the death and identity crisis, then on the next episode we got some insane anime cooking competition with supernatural knifes and such
If it werent for Kagami, Tendou's Gary Stu'ness woulda been too unbearable. Also we had the main from 555's who was already a different type of KR protagonist (not the usual cheery happy go lucky kind type)
I watched Kabuto twice. Both times I felt that Kagami was the main character. We follow him as he discovers the world. Tendou might be the main rider, but Kagami remains the main character. It feels like a show from the perspective of the secondary rider and that's why I like it.

Kagami is the real "main rider" of Kabuto to me. He has the real heroic development in this show, while Tendou started as a hero and ended as one (even if he was an incredibly smug one). Also, I think lore-wise, isn't Gattack the strongest of all Kabuto riders?
I only wish Hyper Gattack had actually appeared in the show, instead of being relegated to a hyper battle video and figure arts.

While yes he can surely be the main rider to you or anyone, He factually isnt. But thats the great part.
They are changing the expectations that a kamen rider will be fresh off from the start, And yes while the origin point is an important part. I like the story telling of Kabuto, Geats. kiva and Build. Where we see an MC who has already started his journey. And we have other characters that can fill the "new guy that gains super powers" role.
So i think we should stop expecting the MC's to be brand new to kamen rider, And accept that as long as we have someone to fill those shoes, It doesnt really matter.
It gets kinda boring that every first episode has the exact same formula.
Introduce MC and his gimmick.
Introduce the threat.
Becomes kamen rider.
Wins and learns about what he must do.
That fits for like 15 different kamen rider shows. Which is getting very very boring to deal with, As the first many episodes will just be "monster of the week"..

I just finished watching Kabuto and boy was it a fun ride I can say it's my favorite rider seasons
This show had me thinking Arata was the main character when, technically, the show is all about Tendou and that's kinda messed up as they continue that pattern, like following an NPC who keeps interacting with the main character. I loved it.

Tendou character perfectness is an intended one, to be a source of comedic scenes throughout the series, just like Barney Stinson in HIMYM. Thanks to his character we can have many absurd, funny scenes like the one how he ends up diagnosing the doctor instead.
The one thing I didnt like about this season was the fact that Dark Kabuto was introduced after Hyper Beatle and didn't have a final of his own. As hype as that Dark Kabuto arc was I knew he wasn't on tendo's level the entire time.

The Hyper Zecter you see is the one from the movie. Since in the movie Tendou travels back in time and changes the futur, a new reality (the one from the show) is created. The hyper zecter from the show's universe is destroy but the one from the movie still exists and it's that one that Always comes to Tendou's aid.

The Kick and Punch hopper zecters were created by Kagami's father in secret because he didn't trust the Natives. The Natives being the other species of shape changing aliens who are secretly living on Earth. They were the ones who originally gave humans the technology to build the rider system and Zecters which is why they can summon any zecter they wish and transform into any rider so long as they have the rider gear to go with the zecters.

Kabuto was the first Kamen Rider series I watched. I loved the designs, the powers, the storylines (the one with Daisuke was one of my favourite moments) and the fact that, unlikely previous tokusatsus I watched, Kabuto had balls to kill major characters (the death of Tsurugi was another of my fav moments).
However, a big problem I had was with some/many WTF moments, like Tendou's belt getting repaired by itself, the other Riders' Zects just fusing on Kabuto for no reason and the Hyper Kabuto Zect re-appearing through space and time after being supposedly destroyed.
My biggest issue was with the ending: I had to watch this video to actually understand who the heck was that Dark Tendou supposed to be.
I had fun watching Kabuto. Ot was the series who introduced me to Kamen Rider. However, I'm not sure if I would recomend it as an introduction for a non-fan. Kamen Rider Build, on my opinion, would be a better recomendation as first series to a non-fan.

Kabuto was my first rider show , but seeing Kamen Rider Gattack is what kickstarted my path to rider fandom.
I'll admit that I did not like Tendou at first. But I saw that his arrogance was actually a zen like understanding of the world and it's that attitude that allows him to be ahead of the curve, as he can see the bigger picture.
I want to say he's one of my favorites but almost every rider in the Heisei era has good qualities that make it hard to rank them in any order after my top three.
God I love this show! I especially like Tendou and Kagami, to the point where I collect their SHF and custom painting the Figurise Kabuto for Kabuto and Dark Kabuto Masked Form.

Okay, I'm just gonna make one thing perfectly clear... I was also hooked with Kamen Rider Kabuto ever since I first got into Kamen Rider during my childhood years, and it has taught me things that I was too distracted and kept myself away from a while, which makes me feel I've been blind for not following these lessons that Kabuto showed to me. I was also heartbroken at the moments that had a despressive yet also heartbroken state, it's like the happiness that I had was starting to fade away whenever Tendou or Arata break down and I soon find myself breaking down as well, which is something that often happens whenever my life is a living hell. Plus, the designs for the suits and the choreography of the fight scenes looked so amazing that I was quite surprised that some future generations of Kamen Rider even followed along with this process, at least... That's what I think. So yeah, Kamen Rider Kabuto is a series that I look up to during times of depression or Kamen Rider watching, and it's also considered to be one of my all time favorite seasons of Kamen Rider. It deserves an A+, espically one from the one who walks the path of Heaven

This is the series that got me into Kamen Rider because my best friend introduced it to me and it's always been one of my favorite series next to ryuki faiz kiva and blade along with all the newer riders that come out so far
As this season progressed, they stopped using clock up. My guess is the effect used high speed cameras. Maybe they were too expensive.

I found the whole series fascinating. I really liked Hiyori and how she was one of the reasons why Souji was fighting to protect people. Also Juka was Souji's cousin. There were also several past Tokusatsu guest stars on Kabuto. Including some Sentai actors.

Kabuto was my first Kamen Rider series. I really love it. It knows when to be goofy and when to be serious. Gattack is my all-time favorite Kamen Rider too.

you do not watch kabuto for the adventures of tendo, you watch it to see what the group gets into this time. the early episode where there's only one rider are IMO the weackes
because tendo IS a mary sue. up to the halfpoint he never really have any foil; even tsurugi, the only one that somewhat reach his level, stops being a rival after his introduction. his greater loss until he's met with a litteral clone of himself is using a loophole so that he gets to keep the hyper zeckter
and it is ok, because the whole cast keeps the thing going flawlessly even when there isn't much story (the anghst of the hopper for the sake of being anghsty, for one). it is a problem we'll see later with kiva, which tried the same thing didn't manage to suceed
but one problem of the serie is the underusage of some established point: kabuto's toy launcher, used a whole of 3 times, one offscreen; gatack is the one that uses his cannons from masked form the most, and he still press the trigger less than 10 times, sasword coilwhip used twice, drake underwater functionality barelly more than just told us, all the masked forms hazmat funtionality, the hoppers having clock up in every single appearence in ancillary media but not in the serie proper
also, the suspended points. the hopper zeckters just appears out of nowhere when tendo is taking possession of all the others, straight after an exchange with how this is upsetting the natives (that we already know, are the one that made the zeckters) and look like prototypes for something you build bulks of. never brought up. after mishima becames thebee once, the thing is forgotten regardless of the pressure previously placed onto the importance of having thebee in the first place, not even a word of being in search of a new guy for it. not too big on their own, but they compounds upon eachother

I wouldn't call the post 34 mark boring just some oddities I genuinely enjoyed the goofy moments in Kabuto that segwayed into much darker more serious moments

I almost squealed when you said Gatack was your favorite character from this show because Gatack is one of my favorite Kamen Riders so far. His suit, his character development, he was definitely the hero in my eyes. But Tendou was cool.

My first experience with Kamen Rider was with W, i was hooked instantly. it took some getting used to to get into Kabuto but it was a fantastic ride, i honestly did not like Tsurugi or Tendou at first but they grew on me and i was sad to see Trurugi go the way he did. I also didnt think i would like a suit more than W but KR Kick Hopper is my new favorite.
KR Kabuto was a realy good series but not without flaws, i think your video has realy good points, but yeah, the last part was so forgetable that until you mentieoned some of the plotpoints I couldnt remember any.
Also Kabuto is so op that it fkd up any teamup/vs that includes him.

Ah yes, my favorite Kamen Rider series alongside with Gattack as my all time favorite secondary rider.
I like the opening and both insert themes for Kabuto.
After episode 10 I started liking It.
My favorite Kamen Rider. I can watch it over and over again.
Kamen rider kabuto Pays homage to kamen rider black with its theme of the sun. Tendou considered himself chosen by the sun when his alternate self gave him the rider belt. He saw his alternate self as if he came to him from the sun giving him his fates. Although its never mentioned, I bet he was meant to receive glimpses of his alternate life as the savior of the world. Knowing hes the most powerful rider and the wielder of hyper zecter, shouldering the responsibility of being the guy whose chosen to save the world.
All this ofc disregarding the awful native arc. Its not a part of the original intended story. The movie is the intended original story. If you didnt know the original head writer was fired cuz toei didnt like the script and replaced him with the worst kamen rider writer. So kamen rider kabuto is basically snydercut before the snydercut.
Luckily however they kept the original story in the movie. We can only imagine whats the original story and the original ending of the series was meant to be.
If i have to guess though, after rewatching the first episode, it gives us a hint by showing how some characters were shone by the sun. Tendou, hiyori when she was first introduced, and weirdly tadokoro when he came at the end of the episode. I think these characters are shown to have some relation to the alternate timeline. As we know tendou got his belt from his alternate self, hiyori was exposed to alternate tendou's light when kid tendou received his belt. Granting her some degree of the alternate timeline. Its the reason how she can fixed tendous belt and maybe made it somewhat complete by touching it. Tadokoro i think was meant to have bigger role in the original storyline. If i have to guess hes a Native from the alternate timeline and hes meant to be the creator of the rider system from that timeline. He created the rider system to help humankind to be prepared of the coming comet and worms apocalypse. Having lived and witnessed the alternate timeline he knew who are the chosen people for the rider system. And when he went back in time at the same time as tendou did somehow, he possessed the information of the chosen people. This helps zect to better developt and better prepare knowing already who the chosen people going to be. Thats why they have all those old documents about tendou and kagami. But hear me out theres more.
Kagamis dad is the tadokoro from the alternate timeline. And dark kabuto was supposed to be tendou from the alternate timeline. But that story is scraped. Thats why the original script was deemed too dark. What was meant to be might be too heavy for children in japan.
I always find the show plot to be confusing especially Tendou convenience, but overall Kabuto is a great show
