  • Old Florida’s First Tourist Attraction is in White Springs, Florida on US Highway 41. White Sulphur Spring is Florida’s original tourist destination & roadside attraction. The White Sulphur Spring bathhouse is located right on the Suwannee River and we will be diving into its history today. Also, let’s take a tour of Adam’s Country store, an 1800s general store with its original appliances. There is also lots of abandoned stuff and places along the way. There is much ahead.

There’s a lot more history to that town like how that place was way more bigger than it is now but in the 1930s and massive fire gutted the town and the whole area near the spring house sits on a massive limestone cave system and during world war 2 it had a German prison camp? But I’m not to sure about that and there’s an actual sulfur springs but it’s in the Stephan foster park

Fascinating.... I used to visit Florida in the early 60s when I was a kid with my parents, but don't remember this. I'm sad that so much has fallen aside in favor of modern craziness. Thank you for this look into Florida's past. ❤️

Man, did this ever bring back some memories!! I grew up a few miles from here in Lake City, FL. My Granny and Grandpa both had relatives in White Springs and they took me on many Sunday afternoon drives to White Springs. I remember all those old buildings, the general store, that old gas station, and of course the springhouse. I remember being scared to death standing on the top deck looking down into that spring, to a small child it looked like a mile down to that water. Back then Hwy 41 had a slightly different route, there was a parking lot near the spring house not far from where the museum is today. I even remember when that old Suwanee River Motel was open, and I've heard rumors that for a time it was open but not a real motel if you get my drift. Thanks for a nice video, lots of great childhood memories!!

Another wonderful batch of memories. My brothers lived in the 'Pickin' Parlor' at the other end of the block from Adams store. I went to the spring many times, but don't recall swimming there. Had to repair my bike at the old wooden gas station after riding over from Live Oak. Thank you.

At 6:28 that is definitely not an '80s soda machine. I grew up in the 80's and I used to see the occasional old fashioned soda machine like this one. Although I thought they were cool I was always a bit nervous putting my money in them because they often took my money without giving me a soda. Maybe it was just because I was not good at pulling the soda out the right way, lol. Anyways, those machines are more likely from the 50's and 60's🙂
