Maravilloso Gustavo, Felicitaciones a todos. Desafiando la pandemia, con este bellísimo poema sinfónico de Grant, guardando las distancias y mascarillas, como aconsejan los científicos. Bravo.

Grand. Beautiful. Serene. Peaceful "Sorrow movement" by Grant Still. Gustavo Dudamel es una estrella en el firmamento de la música clásica. Bravo! by the the LA Philharmonic Orchestra.

Thwre are elements that remind me of St Louis blues and Porgy and Bess.

George Gershwin got many of his musical themes from Black American music, so this sounds like putting the cart before the horse. This is great music regardless.

Interesting. Many reminiscences of "Porgy and Bess" in that composition.

That would be impressive, since this was written 5 years earlier.

But I am still wondering in which melody in this peace you see that.
Maybe the Inspiration worked the other way around.

This was literally one of the composer’s biggest complaints, that orchestras would not play his music, but then turn around years later and champion something that sounds very similar to his writing style, but written by other socially accepted composers.
