SEE What Really Happens to Spinnerbait Blades at Depth
Vložit
- čas přidán 14. 08. 2024
- I wanted to see what different blades do at different depths on a bright day. Does a hammered blade flash better than a smooth one? How deep can we see the flash and at what distance? These are all questions I wanted to find some answers for and they are in this video.

And thank you to John for designing this rig for testing blades! I appreciate it!
I want to say I truly appreciate the effort and the work that you put into the videos to inform us and keep us educated and great information
Thanks so much! I appreciate it. This one definitely too some time.
You are really knocking it out of the park lately with these videos! I can only imagine the hours and hours of effort it took to make a five and a half minute video! So much useful information packed into a short video.
Lol. I get into the middle of them and think to myself what did I get myself into. I figure if I am just answering questions I have anyway I might as well make a video for it. I am super happy the electrical portion worked in this one.
I am absolutely stunned with your innovation and the work you put into these videos for us... this was brilliant, super helpful and powerful.. thank-you
Thank you! I really appreciate it. It definitely takes much, much longer than a lot of other videos I have done, but I really enjoy seeing the results and learning something. It is amazing how doing these has changed my thought process on the water.
Another great informative video... You always go above and beyond with your videos.. The best channel on CZcams..
I appreciate that!
What an awesome test/demonstration! Would love to see some sound/vibration testing from different lures at varying distances.
I have got a video in the works that I hope will show water displacement of different lures. Still need to perfect how it is presented, but I think it will be really interesting.
Another amazing video Steve! Thank you for your hard work showing us how blades look under water!
Ditto, the Einstein of youtube, Love It.
Thanks! People watching me on the lake have got to be thinking what in the world is this guy doing. Lol.
Love your content and this underwater footage is so eye opening and helpful. Thank you for your content.
Thank you! I appreciate it.
The work that you put into your is appreciated
Thank you! This one did take quite some time, but I really enjoyed working on it.
This was cool idea. My thoughts are. 1. Were told bass see like 5 times better than us, but arguably i think less clarity than us. 2. Although im thinking you did this as experiment for flash, im wondering if this is why spinner baits dropped off for an everyday lure, in other words once the lateral line and vision draws bass to it if they get too good a look they shy off it, vs chatterbait....fyi i do better on spinnerbaits myself lol
3. I prefer gold blades or gold dominated i think out of paranoid....lol fisherman fish our confidence I guess.
Thanks a million Steve, this was well worth the effort.
I agree with you on the popularity of spinnerbaits falling off. It wasn't that long ago and it seemed like everyone had a blade tied on.
That was really eye opening for me Steve. It really makes me think about my blade selection for sure next time I'm out on the water. I love these videos that show what our baits are doing under water. Great work!
Thanks so much. It definitely changed the way I think about different blades as well.
Commenting to make the video more popular.
👍🏻
Great video!!! Nice presentation on how the blades flash at different depths and water clarities. Stay Safe & God Bless!!! 🤠👍
Thank you! It took a crazy amount of time to get all the footage I wanted, but it was fun to work on and I like how it turned out. Have a terrific day!
Absolutely love your content. Explain everything very well and in detail...
Did any one notice the Bass checking out the blades(2:55)😮
I did! I did some looking around and that fish was working on a bed near by.
I would love to see this test on a windy day.
Great comment sir!
Definitely. Those waves sure change the light. I will have to try to add that into the next one. Thank you!
It’s the only time I have success with a spinner bait.
GREAT video!!! Maybe add a "glow in the dark" blade.
I too was surprised at how well the painted blades did and I will def be using them on sunny days. I think the more muted "flash" could be better on pressured lakes.
I agree. I think on those heavy pressured days or lakes I will be using a lot more of the painted blades as well.
That's awesome can't wait to see the cloudy vid thanks for doing the leg work for me to understand the sanario of flash in a situation really appreciate it
Thanks you for watching! I'm glad it was helpful.
You are the only one that backs up what you say with evidence.
I do my very best to always show visuals for whatever the topic is. Thank you!
Great video. It makes a difference to know what action, or presentation a bait produces. Thanks for the wading advice. Had a bass strike at my waist: I gave extra line and was able to land the bass.
That's awesome! Thanks for sharing that and watching.
Job well done Steve. Thanks for clearing it up!
Thank you! I really enjoy doing these types of experiments. It has really changed how I think about different things.
Very interesting. Thanks for going through the trouble of making this vid.
Thanks!
A very cool video that represents what we think lures actually do under water
Thank you!
You're really putting in the work, great video
I appreciate that!
I love your videos. You do such a great service for education purposes of fishing. Thanks
Thanks!
Really interesting video. Could you add red and black blades in your future tests?
That is an excellent idea. I didn't even think of those two colors. Thank you. I will try to do that.
As always, excellent content. I look forward to the next video .....
Thanks! I have got a couple in the works that will go into more depth on the water displacement aspect. Hopefully, it will be done before too long.
Good stuff! Can't wait to see this in stained/tannic water (I live in SC that is all we have)
I need to pick out a few other lakes around here to get those next ones done to find various water clarities. Thanks for watching!
Cool video, i love spinnerbaits, and this video debunked a few assumptions that i had about blade selections for conditions. I am eager to experiment with water clarity ,and color.thx Steve!
Good luck! Let me know what you find out with them.
Excellent video. Thanks, Steve!
Thank you! I appreciate it.
Very awesome test, should have loved to seen at least one shot from dingy and clear water from below to see what fish below would see, but thank you so much for this, really interesting!
That would have been a great idea to film from below. I will have to remember that for next time. Thank you!
Hey, Steve, pray u are well. They took my Braves off tv. So sad. But this is a great video. Be safe
Hey there Shannon! The tv schedules are so crazy anymore. I never know what channel sports are going to be on. My White Sox are so bad I can't even stand to watch.
Steve I always enjoy your content! 👍
I appreciate that!
Great video you always give us so much good information thank you for what you do.
Thank you! And thank you for taking the time to watch.
Great information
Glad it was helpful!
Great video! Makes me think about painting some of my blades with glow in the dark paint that charges in the sun haha. Wonder how that would work 😁
That's an interesting one. Would be worth some investigating for sure.
Great video Steve. You seem to always amaze me.
Thank you! Hope your tournament season is off to a great start!
First one is on the 19th, I'll keep you posted.
Great stuff!
Thanks!
Excellent video
Thanks!
Cool test rig!
Thanks! 👍
Great video, thanks!
Glad you liked it!
Thanks. Interesting. And good to know.
Thanks!
incredible! I wonder how a tandem spinnerbait config would look. Would a Colorado and/or a Willow on a clevis look much different? 🤔
Great question! I will have to experiment with that one.
Bluegill makes a cameo appearance at 2:57.
That guy had to be thinking what in the world is going on. Lol.
Awesome video/test. I'll be looking forward to the next video. I want to know the difference between orange chartreuse, white vs silver in different water clarity. Or do dots or blades with 2 colors make a difference? So much we dont really know. Thanks
Those dotted blades would be really interesting to see! Thank you.
Steve, I’m all for longer form videos. You provide such good info, maybe one over a broad topic once a month would be awesome. Just a thought, I know attention spans in 2024 are shorter 😅
I can definitely try to do that. Biggest problem is my own attention span. Lol.
@@SteveRogersOutdoors 😂😂 touché
My favorite blades are painted one side and shiny on the other for clear water. But I mainly use painted blades
I need to start using a lot more painted blades again. I have a lot of them and used to use them all the time, but it is one of those things I need to bring back into action for sure.
Really interesting!
Thank so much!
excellent
Thanks so much and thank you for taking the time to watch.
👍 👌 thanks
interesting experiment
Thank you!
But does spinner attrack more attention with water displacement then flash
That is a great question. I think a lot of times the answer to that is yes. I am working on a video that shows actual water displacement for different lures.
Fishs see well UV light and blades reflect it well, UV go far deeper than visible light.
Interesting
Thanks!
My brain is hurtin!
😂 the first water clarity clip is 50 times clearer than my lake on its best day
It's crazy how different lakes can be. For my lake, that first setup was much cloudier than normal. Lol.
Thats what i was thinking "stained"?! That aint stained
Have you considered that the most important aspect of a spinnerbaits is the sound they generate.
I'm working on a video that goes into both sound vibration and water displacement with the blades on spinnerbaits. Still figuring out some of the details but hopefully it will be out soon. Thank you!
