It was always pretty obvious that the leaf village is the strongest one but Kishimoto had to make interesting plot lines so it ended up with many strong guys leaving the village or dying.
I mean, they have the "lead", so...
Minato, the absolute BEST ninja in the leaf died for no reason.

The interesting thing about Danzo is point of view. From a viewer perspective and whole world narrative understand, he is a shady guy. But :
-Danzo wants to send the Hidden Rain into turmoil because Hanzo is stronger than Konoha's next generation of shinobi, including the Sannin
-Danzo didnt believe in the Uchiha, and he was right about it, so he wants to eliminate them
-Danzo knew spies are usefull but are also a danger to the village. So he disposes of them. Same thing happen in real life espionage. Sad truth, but truth nethertheless.
Also
- Amegakure, Kumogakure and Iwagakure all went shady as well, which, from Danzo's perspective, means they were more willing than Hiruzen to do anything to win: Ame pushed the Genin into mass murderers machines without feelings (Zabuza's story) so he tries to imitates them (Sai). Kumo tried to kidnapp Hyuuga and steal the Byakugan (Ao obtained his in battle, not the same) so Danzo try to keep Konohas secrets at all cost (Kabuto and Nono, eliminate possible sources of intel). Iwagakure hired the Akatsuki, imagine what it looked like in Danzo's eyes. So he allied with former enemies to fragilize every "enemy" nation.
Danzo fears the world. He fears that other nations will do what he thinks Hiruzen wont. And he was right about that, Hiruzen lead Konoha on a way to peace.
Only the apparition of several highly skilled shinobi in their ranks prevented the enemies of attacking for a long time, but even it did not stop SUNA from attacking them under Orochimaru's scheming and manipulation.
And if you look at "key players" in many nations we are introduced, they all think like Danzo. The Tsuchikage before meeting Gaara did not give a shit about other countries, even his granddaughter thinks it would be an opportunity to backstab the others.
The hidden mist prefered to stay isolated to hide the precarious situation they are in (Previous Kage being manipulated). Chiyo, Ao, the Kage... all these characers of political influence were ALL against cooperation at first. Only meeting the main characters and finding a common ennemy changed them.
So Danzo was quite right in the sense that the others were really trying to bring down the Leaf. The only real issue Danzo had is that he never met Naruto and never went through talk no jutsu therapy.

@@16tkd1Agreed. That’s why I liked Danzo. Not because of his morals but he was willing to do what it takes to level the playing field and his end game was was to protect the village. The end justifies the means. It makes him more complex than a straight out evil villain
Well that's not a guarantee, danzo did all the jobs that leaf ninja wouldn't do , to keep the village ahead and running

@RafaelCliper no. It wouldn't. Remember that there was a foolproof plan to stop that. Shisui and Itachi had that locked down before old POS goal medalist ruined that, right along messing up Naruto's childhood, stiring up wars, hampering with Thrid Hokage's ability to do anything, and more.

Whoever is in charge of HR in leaf needs to analyze their process. Like they are insanely good in talent acquisition and training, but insanely bad in retention and managing mental health issues. Maybe they need to work in their support, work life balance, and career opportunities; looks like a waste of resources if you are able to get the best talent but half of them end burning out

This is why I love a theory I saw on a different video comparign the strength of Konoha compared to the Cloud village. Basically the Cloud had more Jonin level shinobi. Meanwhile the Leaf always had the most legendary shinobi, which resulted in the Leaf always coming out on top in all Great Ninja Wars.

Loved the video! I always think about just how OP the leaf is, even their genin are spectacularly powerful. If so many didn't go rogue, they'd be absolutely unstoppable, and no villain in the story would actually exist lmao. The song choice is fire, and I especially love the scene at 1:40 where Minato's rasengan forms with the sun in the background. You just keep upping the bar every single time! I can't believe you're so close to a million subscribers now! Very well deserved!

Idk how much alcohol Kishimoto was on to think that there was a "balance" between the villages when the leaf has the Uchihas, the Senjus, the Kyuubi and the Uzumakis (the last one at least)

I don't think there ever was meant to be a balance. I think the Leaf was always meant to be the original center of power. Let's be real, Hashirama and Madara could have conquered the whole shinobi world together, the other shinobi villages were formed out of fear of the Senju and Uchiha's alliance and the other 4 villages only became great because Hashirama handed out the Tailed Beast to them in the name of peace and balance.
That and then the Leaf's screwups over the years made them equal to the other 4 villages.
The leaf is the world power. Even in the shinobi wars, its normally multiple other villages vs just the Leaf. They have to be that strong as they sit in the center, they would get sliced up into the other countries otherwise.

I remember in the Jiinchukri arc that Minato said that he sealed Naruto away to keep the Kyuubi and maintain the power balance between nations (ofc that wasn't the only reason but he did mention there was a balance). Maybe he meant the balance that existed before and not perfect balance, now that I think of it.

If Madara becomes completely committed to being the aid of Hashirama then the later guys like Obito, Itachi, Orochimaru, and Shisui are unnecessary. Hashirama, Madara, Tobirama and later Hiruzen would 100% ensure Konoha's peace for 500 years.
