Niwa is a great player, without unrealistic ambitions. He takes this as a job, not as a mission, so he does not show much emotion. This is a healthy attitude when dealing with a rival unlikely to beat. Chinese Team evaluated his behaviors and got a summary like this - First, he has his own tempo - he sort of waits for the ball to find him, so do not expect him to push you; secondly, he does not have a plan, so you just have to go with his flow, and figure out a way on the spot - and this makes it difficult to prepare in advance. He is a well respected player.

Many times he stays behind in the first game to study then steamrolls the other player. Looks like he's still got a few more years for us to adore...….…Good on him.

@@joshyang7226 It's obvious that Ma Long is at a level of his own. Nobody can hit 100% shots. The higher the speed, the higher the error rate. Considering how fast and powerful Ma Long's shots are, his error rate is pretty low, and that's why he is winning all the games! I don't think Fan will be a match.

    • @joshyang7226

See, Fan did win against Ma Long. Although Ma Long will destroy anyone else, Fan has an edge due to time played.

Koki and Jun need to retire and let the young japan players get more experience. They’re just too slow for the modern game now. You need guys like Harimoto and Kenta to go to the olympic team.

I don't know who started the silly tradition of apologizing for hitting the net or the edge of the table. None of us are really sorry. If we really were, we'd give the point to the opponent or let them replay the point!
