Anup Jalota, the household name for Bhajans and Ghazals, has thought nothing but music all his life. His father, Bhajan exponent Purushottam Jalota, is also his mentor. Born in Nainital and educated in Lucknow his musical career as an All India Radio chorus singer. Honored as Samrat' of India, Anup Jalota has wowed audiences and devotees singing. He has released many albums that have gone Gold and P created World records. He has also given music for many Hindi Gujarat Bengali films Known for his versatility, the smiling and ever-obliging Anup renders Bhajans and Ghazals with equal grace and finesse. His mellif powerful voice has an incredible range. A voice that soothes the sou leaves audiences spellbound in admiration with his renditions.
Anup Jalota is married to Medha, niece of former Indian Prime Minister, Inder Kumar Gujral. They have a 16 year old son, Aryaman (means noble mind) Anup Jalota hails from the Sham Chowrasi Gharana of Punjab. Although a Anup Jalota sings in 8 different languages. A philanthropist, Anup Jalota charity concerts and created a fund to support Indian victims' families September 11 tragedy in New York City. Anup is a trained classical singer. He learned music from his father, the Bhajan exponent Purshottam Das Jalota and from Bhatkhande Vidyalaya Lucknow. On his live concerts, he is backed by a santoor player, a tabla and a guitarist. Having performed with eminent performers like Mehd Lata Mangeshkar, Ghulam Ali, Ustad Zakir Hussain, late Ustad Nusrat Fateh Khan, Jagjit Singh, Pankaj Udhas, Hariharan, Anup's feats boast outstanding record of over 1200 songs including Chazals and Bha Yet, the talented maestro feels his thirst for excellence has not yet quenched.
