You are very welcome bro, I'm glad to hear that!
Hi Samuel, I just found your channel and your videos, and I think they are all really cool! I am an amateur talking drummer who is blind, and I am fascinated with this instrument, its beauty, its Tonality, and its history. I have a traditional talking drum that was made for me in Ayete, Oyo State, Nigeria.
Although this does not have to do with the video, I would really like to know what the different parts of the talking drum are called in Yoruba.
THANK YOU BOSS FOR THIS LESSON ALL THE WAY FROM SOUTH AFRICAN I LOVE THIS I CAN TUNE MY NOW THANKS BRO
yes it's supposed to be high pitched, if you notice at the end when I hit the drum with hand it was high pitched. after that you are to tie it back with the string in order for it to come down again, as in toe it unto the sound becomes low. Once it's low again it'll be ready for you to play. (Sorry I left this last step out)
Sambay, much respect and thanks.
this video really helped me thank you
Thanks so much. This will be very very useful. God bless
Yea please if you'll be able to get in touch with Samson to make a tutorial of some nigerian guitar music? And also Mike if you can get in touch him to make a tutorial video of drum beats and flows with talking drum? This vid was really helpful as well, keep up the good work and God bless.
I know, I apologize for the delay. Your welcome.
Good work thanks.
good job, weldone Sambay
Can you make a video tutorial of How to play the guitar by Samson?
Good morning Mr sambay, please where can one get that aiding or 80 beat you are using in your teaching....
Very insightful video. Would you happen to have a link for the song in the background?
God bless
Great video Samuel! How often should one tune the drum using the strings?
groovymrnate7 glory to God. It’s only when the drum gets really low and you’re struggling to get the high tones out of the drum. If you tune the drum to much it’ll definitely tear
That is good to know. I also watched one of your videos where you went over the rim shot. I tried that and I heard some really nice sounds that sounded like a ring modulator effect. I don’t do the rim shot that much because I don’t wanna risk putting a hole in the drum head whenever I play on the edge. That’s the warning from some other instructors but I’m interested in knowing what your thoughts are on it. My talking drum has these interesting overtones that I’m trying to explore. Thank you for everything you do.
When are you coming to Madrid.?
Is't possible to tune it to left side or right side? Which side is more better? Good job Sambay.
do I have to put the string around the drum everytime?
I dey feel you bro
How to put ora in talking drum odo

Hey sorry but it is only my drum that becomes higher pitched? Is it meant to happen?
Maryland
Thanks ever so much. I'm very grateful. I was so close to buying a new one because the skin had become so loose and flat. Can't wait to untie it and play it. Once again thank you and may God continue to bless you.
You are very welcome, Amen!
