  • The Leereel Wireless Lavalier mic for iPhone is an affordable solution for vlogging, streaming, and recording. This is a detailed review including microphone comparisons.
In this review I test the audio performance of the Leerreel Wireless mic in my studio as well as other untreated spaces )loft, bedroom, and outdoors). I compare the built in noise reduction options and also provide a demonstration of processed audio for streaming / recording on your PC. Microphone comparisons include the Boya BY-M1 and Deity V-Lav and I provide recommendations to help you decide if this inexpensive wireless lav mic from Leereel is right for you.
To use the Leereel Wireless mic with your PC or Mac:
(This will allow you to use both the Leereel mic and your iPhone's camera).
    1. Install the Epoccam app from the App Store (iPhone only),
    2. Download and install the drivers: www.elgato.com/en/epoccam
    3. Make sure your phone is on the same network as your computer (if you want to use your phone's camera and mic wirelessly, other wise connect your phone to your computer with usb).
    4. Use Epoccam as a webcam (video capture device in OBS) on your computer with video call apps and more!
Thanks for checking out my review!

    Do This First:
To get the most out of your recording or streaming space, I recommend sound treatment including acoustic absorption panels. This is the single biggest way to improve your audio before investing in other gear. You can make your own, or I highly recommend GIK Acoustics as they manufacture some of the best quality panels available at an excellent value.

High-end gear is great to work with, but I really like to see affordable options like this make content creation accessible.

Any idea why my iPhone 13 will not change to mic when I use this external Mic? When I plug into the phone I get the solid red light on the side. Then turn on the mic and pairs and turns green. Then I tried it with several apps and nothing. Thanks I’m advance.

i have a pair of similar ones, but like a week ago when i connect the sound is very bad, like rocky... could be because i updated to iOS 16.0.3? do you have some fin or a checklist so i can sea what happened? (i've connected to other iPhone with iOS 12.5.6 and the mic works. PLEASE HELP!☹

IOS 16.0.3 broke the connection between external microphones and many apps. The latest IOS 16.1 beta3 has fixed this and the full 16.1 release is expected on Monday. Once you do the update your microphone should work again.

Is it possible to connect more than two LeeReel mics to one receiver?

Unfortunately I don't have additional mics to test. If anyone else has tried this, please let the community know.

How far away will the mic pick up sound?

    • @askdrtk

You can use it mounted out of frame, but any more than 18 inches (45 cm) and it will start to pick up too much room noise. I do find it works best when clipped to clothing as wearing it close to you also helps block some of the room noise. Hope this helps out!

Will this work with 3rd party audio recording apps?

    • @askdrtk
      @askdrtk  Před rokem +1

Yes, I have tested it with Voice Record Pro, Filmic Pro, and Pro Camera by Moment. There is no guarantee on all apps, but I have found that if iOS allows one third party app to access an external device others are ok as well, at least from the iOS perspective.
