A carving knife made out of 14 carat gold would contain at least 5400 dollars worth of gold, or possibly twice that. And gold is twice as dense as steel while being much softer, so you'd be constantly sharpening the blade. Gold has really all the very worst properties for use in a knife.

I don't even think you can make a gold knife. Gold is so soft it will dull so easily. You'll need to sharpen it so often.

In times of plagues and diseases, they were protected due to the effects of thr precious metals, which would also have an effect of turning the blood blue. Hence the term blue blooded. A golden knife would somehow inhibit the negative effects of contamination, or let's say if you didn't wash it thoroughly, and disinfected properly.

That should be brass. Gold is highly malleable but the way the smith need to roll press and hammer it gives enough proof that it's not actually gold. That's how to make a video trend i suppose.
14k gold means that the alloy has 58,3% of gold in it. It is less gold than most jewelry which tend to be made at 18k wile retaining some decent hardness. Can it be brass and we ware fooled? For sure! 😆 But the claim of 14k gold is reasonable

Yeah bar stock of that size would cost like 10k minimum even if it's 14k gold. One once of pure gold is 1.8k and a bar stock of that size like likely more than 10 ounces especially since gold is very dense.

Я так ножи делал у себя в гараже, только и "золотой" Латуни! А рукоять из аналога "гранита" в итоге нож 20 лет функционирует, подготовка к резке мяса 5 минут, но на станке. Я не самурай.

Еле досмотрел, уже один раз отключился в конце. Видео нужно было назвать - "делаем нож из латуни с ужасной рукояткой". Слитки золота в таком виде вообще нельзя хранить, он же был переплавлен и не было маркировки.)

Это латунь. Нет смысла делать кухонный нож из золота, он слишком мягкий. Так же как и из латуни. Ребята угарнули, чтобы гостей потом удивлять. Ну или пойдет в магазин, как сувенир
Вот и я думаю, это прикол или они на самом деле так работают, ну в смысле все в ручную, наши дивайвайщики использовали бы 100500 дорогущих станков что бы этот нож сделать! Я уверен даже отверстия в брусках для ручек на станке сверлили бы, а тут взял дрелью бахнул и норм!

Hay muchos detalles que me hacen dudar seriamente que sea oro:
El sonido de la lámina al dejarla en la mesa y al golpearla.
La madera utilizada en el mango es sumamente corriente, un cuchillo de oro verdadero amerita una madera preciosa o algún material exótico y valioso.
Los remaches de cobre ( dudo que sea oro rosa )
El acabado tan mediocre de la hoja, ni siquiera le sacaron brillo.
Podría apostar que ese cuchillo es de latón o de bronce.
Yo también me puse a dudar a parte el oro no sirve para hacer cuchillos ya que su dureza no es la óptima ni aún juntándolo con otro metal, yo estoy cási seguro que es de latón pero también está aleación no es la adecuada para los cuchillos ya que perdería su filo muy rápido por su baja dureza comparado con los elementos de los cuchillos comunes.
@@nuassul , así es. Un cuchillo de oro es totalmente inútil, a no ser que lo utilices exclusivamente para cortar cosas en exceso suaves, como un plátano o algo así.

Yup. Vorallem der Griff gefällt wir überhaupt nicht. Hätte exotischeres Holz dafür genommen, oder zumindest was gutes reingeschnitzt und dann auch einen ordentlichen finish gemacht.
Sollte ein Schmuckstück sein.. Da gold nicht besonders geeignet sein kann zum schneiden, weil es zu weich ist.
Also wenn das Ding 14 k Kosten soll, dann fress ich freiwillig nen Besen. Dafür würde ich noch nochmal 50 € zahlen 😂
@@dongyo69 es gibt Köche die weiche Metalle bevorzugen damit man das Messer einfach und schnell schleifen und schärfen kann. Wäre bei Gold natürlich ne teuere Angelegenheit ^^

ist reinste Gold 24K, in Deutschland 999. Dieses Gold das vereibertet wird, ist 14K, somut entählt andere Metalle, die dieses Gold härter machen und somit man daraus ein brauchbares Messer machen kann.
Knife Maker here. Your blade beveling, polishing, and sharpening was on point. But I hate the handle, you should have used walnut, or any other dark colored wood. And why did you bother peening the pins before you finished grinding the handle? Either way 7/10 can't give you too much grief because you put in good effort. And the cross section of that handle needs to be more oval, you made it to round. Think axe handle in future, not shovel handle round.

making a kitchen knife out of gold is like making a frying pan out of wood.
That's 14 Karat gold. It's tough. Chef's use gold for chopping off the veggies because it doesn't react with the veggies and fruits which contains acidic or basic properties. It is mostly none reactive thus giving as real taste as possible. Majority of us don't pay much heed to the type of utensils we use for eating and cooking our food but the ancient Indians did that. They used to cook food in clay utensils which provided 100% real taste of the ingredients used. Common people didn't use gold but the royals did use gold instruments such as gold knife for chopping, spoons, bowls, and plates of gold for eating.

Estuve leyendo los comentarios y tengo las mismas dudas, lo que no entendí es si lo hacen como obsequio, o si es funcional, no tiene temple y el filo sería muy debil, perdón por mi ignorancia si no es así.
No es de oro puro eso se ve es una aleación el color del oro puro , y la maleavilidad del oro lo harian inútil para trabajo de cocina.
