This may seem random but I grew up in the church and thought that was the whole religion just going to church every Sunday and eventually stopped going and started to do my own thing. I wanted to find the purpose of life because I knew everything we worked for would pass away. I was looking at all the religions unbiasedly, looking historically so I wouldn't have blind faith. Later on I had a tug on my heart to open up the Bible and saw the Jesus people talked about was completely different from what was in the Bible. I started to draw closer to the higher power and had a supernatural encounter with him and I felt his love and peace and was indescribable and overwhelming almost but was out of this world and everything looked brand new like it was the first time seeing it when I looked outside literally. I wasn't expecting the encounter either and was shocked when it happened. (I don't do drugs or alcohol) His name is Jesus and I’m here to tell you it’s about a relationship not religion and he is real and did die on the cross for you willingly and thinks you as the only person and was thinking of you while dying. You don’t have to believe my experience you can seek yourself, I suggest you start in the minimalistic facts of the resurrection because if the resurrection is false than Christianity is false. All we chase in this life is temporary think about your eternal life.

Salvation is not Us professing anything. Everyone professes a Creator, mother nature, God, all powerful thing exists. Romans 1. The simple matter is Hitchens here wasn't drawn by God to be given to Christ in Salvation. God rejected him and left him to his debased mind. John 6, Romans 1, 1 Cor1:18, 2:14, 12:3. Interesting that he says, "I'm not allowed to bring a lawyer." 1 John 2:2 says, "My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous." So we can bring a lawyer, a defense attorney who fully understands the law and gave His life to ensure that the charges against us don't stand. So you're allowed to bring a lawyer. Christ died to be your lawyer. But Hitchens rejected the ONLY lawyer who can ensure the charges are dropped while complaining that he's not allowed to have a lawyer.

@@stunns2003 In my view, individuals often rely on belief systems to seek security and meaning in their lives. I believe this attachment to beliefs stems from psychological conditioning influenced by society, family, and culture. The notion of a "malevolent character" offering an alternative vision can be seen as an external force attempting to manipulate people through fear or desire. I advocate questioning and resisting such manipulation.
I hold a critical stance towards organized religions and ideologies that demand unwavering commitment. I contend that such commitments often lead to conformity, division, and conflict. From my perspective, societies built on rigid belief systems inherently foster division. It is merely that when the atoms inside my skull happen, for physical or chemical reasons, to arrange themselves in a certain way, this gives me, as a by-product, the sensation I call thought. But, if so, how can I trust my own thinking to be true? It’s like upsetting a milk jug and hoping that the way it splashes itself will give you a map of London. But if I can’t trust my own thinking, of course I can’t trust the arguments leading to Atheism, and therefore have no reason to be an Atheist, or anything else. Mind you, Lewis was a fervent atheist and scientist before his conversion near the end of his life. He spent an entire lifetime grappling with these questions before coming to a conclusion. You've just perused a few youtube videos.
People like Hitchens still to this day have never countered any of his arguments because they themselves believe that, yes, they can trust their brain despite their belief being created by entirely random forces. They implicitly trust the idea that random chemicals and neurons firing is enough justification to trust it or these random events explain something as complicated and immaterial as thought and reason.
They've never been able to provide a scientific rationale for why ideas of non material existence like morality exist.
They say evolutionary theory gives way to that? But evolutionary theory is a concept where the strong devour weak. There's a reason atheistic 'scientific' facistic regimes developed soon after Darwins ideas.

The pain went, and he was later told by doctors that he had been miraculously healed...My friend Ralph was duly converted, and I duly fell to my knees and asked forgiveness - BANG, I was baptised in the fire of The Holy Spirit, and I knew, in a few seconds, God is REAL. Atheists have indeed taken notice that Christians often give themselves license to lie to non-believers about these kinds of "miracle" healings. We take notice that your god somehow feels he needs to perform a cheap conjuring trick in order to win your faith. Meanwhile, the Atheist is also aware that your friend chose to believe in god because he had nothing to lose. Pascal's wager? He did not do so because IT WAS THE RIGHT THING TO DO (according to your own religion) but rather, you did so out of a wish to gain god's favor...or to avoid divine punishment. Hardly any morality on display here...by either god or your dying friend. And yes, the Atheists always take note that your god didn't bother to save your friend from his affliction in the first place, saying much more about your pretend friend in heaven than your pretend friend here on earth.

He was so crippled and weakened that the dogs would come and lick his sores. The rich man begged Abraham to send Lazarus to put a drop of water on his tongue, for he was in agony in the flame. Abraham said there was a great chasm fixed between them and him, and it wouldn't be possible. So the rich man begged Abraham to send someone to tell his 7 brothers about this place. But Abraham told the rich man, "If they didn't believe Moses and the prophets, they won't beliieve even if someone returns from the dead." Sad. According to one story of his last words, Voltaires response to a priest at his deathbed urging him to renounce Satan was allegedly…
"Now is not the time for making new enemies."
However, if you fact check this quote it’s fake as it actually originated from a joke first published in a Massachusetts newspaper in 1856, and was only attributed to Voltaire in the 1970s. Moreover, Voltaire actually died in 1778 - yes?
But atheists, bless them, get little cheapies out of the thought that Voltaire was one of their own and sold his soul to the Devil - right? That is they get a SUPERIORITY COMPLEX over left wing fairytales that Voltaire sold his soul to the god of automatons and the god of materialism and scientism. He clearly wasn’t an atheist!! No one really knows what he said near his death. Apart from….
On the 28th of March 1778, only a few months before he died he wrote these famous lines to his secretary Wagnière :
“I'm dying worshipping God, loving my friends, without hate for my ennemies and with detestation of superstition” [Voltaire].
Near the end he clearly made his peace with God and his enemies whilst suffering with illness. Suffering seems to do that. It gives people a good kick up the backside and rattles them from their teenage sophomoric stupor. That’s the paradoxical nature of reality and redemption.

I, like you, do not subscribe to the Wager as the path to salvation (true salvation doesn't work that way), but it is food for thought in that it points out the fact that only the atheist is at risk.
IOWs, if I, as a Christian turn out to be wrong, and the atheist is right, I live my life with the comfort, strength, and joy of my false belief until I die in peace, and cease to exist. I lose nothing. If I'm right (which I am) then I get to live this good life, now, PLUS an infinitely better new life of eternal bliss after. I win either way.
On the other hand, if I'm right, and the atheist wrong, his loss is horrendous, but if he is right he gets to live in nihilistic misery, now, enduring whatever purposeless suffering comes to him until he goes off into oblivion, after.
The atheist has everything to lose, and absolutely NOTHING to gain. I would literally rather be roadkill, than to be an atheist, and even if I were an atheist, I would promote Christianity simply for the benefits and comforts it affords. After all, what's the point of taking away people's hope and comfort if the atheist's meaningless worldview is true, anyway?

Of course, this is a
ridiculously high number for a battle between two tribal armies in 1000 BCE. (The United States had about 1.37 million active duty soldiers in 2001.) and God or Satan? God tempts David to take census, though 1 Chr.21:1 says that Satan tempted David, and Jas.1:13 says that God never tempts anyone. Why did God or Satan tempt David to take the census? And what the heck is wrong with a census anyway? 24:1 Therefore God is not a big fan at maths and stats that he wants David to be divinely punished for it. I bet you too aren't great at math and stats because numbers don't lie.

    • @brianmatthews4323
      @brianmatthews4323 Před měsícem

@@Daniel-b6s That's it? That's your big attack on the Bible?
Some scribe got some numbers off? I expected something far bigger than that.
I'm the last person to say that the Bible has been perfectly transmitted to us in the 21st century English speaking world. That doesn't invalidate the basic precepts of the scriptures, though.
Have you ever even bothered to look into how we got the Bible today? There has been and continues to be much debate on certain MINOR points, but the core principals of Christianity found in scripture are plain and consistent throughout, and are considered orthodox doctrine by all major denominations.
Are you that critical with other ancient documents...or modern ones, for that matter?
I've found typos and minor errors in MODERN textbooks that used modern equipment and technology to produce, yet the bible authors had to painstakingly copy the scriptures by hand with primative pens and ink by oil lamp light. I think they did a pretty remarkable job, all things considered.
You do know, being the eminent Bible scholar that you are, that NO ONE TODAY possesses the original autographs, right? The originals no longer exist, or, if they do, they've been lost.
We must make do with very excellent, though slightly flawed, COPIES of those original autographs. Flaws that do not compromise essential basic orthodox Christian doctrine in anyway.
As for your gotcha about God tempting people to do evil, that is true, and no Christian I know of is confused by that. He does use Satan to tempt people, though, as is seen in the temptation of Christ by Satan in the Gospels.
So if Satan is carrying out something that God wills to happen, like the temptation of His Son, it can be said that it's coming from God, since it is His will. But NO, God doesn't directly tempt anyone.
Also, the word TEMPT in old English, like some words even in modern English has more than one sense in the Bible.
In one sense it means to entice someone to sin, while in another sense, it means to try or test someone with some sort of adversity. God does do that.
What's wrong with David doing a census? The most obvious answer is because Almighty God TOLD HIM NOT TO. If you were a good man, you would stop right there. That should be a good enough reason for you. God said NO, PERIOD.
God doesn't have to explain His reasons to us puny sacks of dirt.
However, the obvious problem was David getting the big head because of how powerful he was militarily. The US is like that, no?
All fighting aged men of Israel were automatically part of the army, back then. David was proud of his army, and God hates human pride.
God knew, as David should have, that David's power was in God, not his army.
And, your claim that Israel's army couldn't be a certain size, back then, is just an assumption on your part. You weren't there, so you have no way of knowing. You're just exercising FAITH in the written words of man, which is, ironically, what your ilk accuse us Christians of doing.
Even if that accusation was true, then it would only mean that it was just our HUMANS' words against your HUMANS' words.

it is unfortunate that he never found an understanding of what it is really about. god doesn't want affirmation from you that he exists. he wants you to accept his offer to save you from the second death following the first death which is that of physical body. the second death is merely to exist for eternity in the abyss separate from god. we come here to see what we do with our free will and if we choose to live with god while we are here we then spend eternity with him and vice versa. it really isn't that complicated but it is hard for a lot of people because they love sin so much it is not easy to give up that temporary pleasure for an eternal connection with the most high.

People like you scare the ever living sh*t out of me. I feel safer around atheists, they are almost always more kind, rational, intelligent, and empathetic. But most importantly, they aren't prone to incomprehensible, irrational violence because they interpret a sign from an imaginary being that they must simultaneously profess to love, appease, worship, and fear.
I don't blame you for believing as you do, not really, it's not your fault. It's your parents, and their parents before them. But mainly it's the religious charlatans, and hucksters calling themselves priest, reverend, rabbi, and imam that are to blame for creating credulous humans that will believe almost anything at all, without any evidence whatsoever.
These subhumans even mock their victims openly by calling themselves shepherds, and their prey, sheep; as they fleece them of their money, sanity, and go on to sexual abuse their children. All this done, while being tax free, and insulated from blame by their religious institutional infrastructures that are embedded like Lyme disease ridden ticks in modern society.
Yes, I think the world could do without engineered lunatics who think like you, created by these monsters, and that that state of the world cannot get here soon enough.

There are a couple of issues with pascals wager.
How do you know you have belief in the right religion? After all if you choose the wrong one you may be in trouble. Religion is usually based on culture and geography. Surely it is unfair for a god to punish individuals because they have been born and brought up as highly influenced children in a region where another religion is the norm.
If God is all knowing, surely he would see through an individual who is only believing in him because it is better than an alternative as opposed to true faith. Pascals wager is a very weak arguement for belief in religion. The whole arguement is based on the premise that believing in God is surely better than hell if you are wrong. The definition of a cult is "an organised group whose purpose is to dominate cult members through psychological manipulation and pressure strategies". This sounds like pascals wager to me.

    • @edwardconroy9248
      @edwardconroy9248 Před rokem +3

@@aaronfunnell5220 It's not that some believers are simply trying to consciously cover their butts or trick god.
It's that religious societies impose conscious fear of everlasting torture (read all the comments) to create and maintain the belief...either way, in both instances, the belief is based purely on self interest.
Since religion is fear based belief of a god without evidence (again, read all the comments), you would think that an all knowing god would appreciate one of his flock had intelligence and a spine.
It takes a lot of guts to live among and refute billions and billions of scared sheep.

It’s in those moments in which you MUST accept God. It’s in those moments in which God can make you feel the pain that you’ve caused others and ask you one last time to humble yourself. It is not easy to imagine that Hitchens at last may have found saving grace. I think that he tried to be an honest man but he in many ways distorted the Christian Faith. Maybe because what was presented to him as Christian faith was shallow or insufficient. But on the other hand he somehow must have seeked God because there is no other explanation in my opinion for his obsession in attempting to fight against God. We normally do not fight things which we think just don´t exist. I don´t fight against unicorns. Or against the deities in greek mythology. Or whatelse is called God. Having said this in my opinion Hitchens failed by making his intellectual abilities the benchmark to decide whether there is a God worthy to be worshiped.
