You can feel the soul and longing in his voice. EP was a true original, the complete, perfect man, a king 👑 of melody, a master musician and a wonderful, beautiful human being! No other singer has come anywhere near his level of performing, generosity of spirit or humanity.

This piano arrangement was originally created and played by Lincoln Mayorga on the Ketty Lester recording. This Elvis recording featured the famed pianist Floyd Cramer who duplicated the Lincoln Mayorga arrangement. That said, I think the engineering and mixing are better on this terrific Elvis masterpiece.

Hey Richard thanks for sharing that with me. I had not know that Floyd Cramer backed up Elvis with that tune. However, I went straight to the Ketty Lester version and sure enough it brought back forgotten memories of that version. I was 13 and probably heard it on our only radio in the house, a small AM single speaker table top radio that was sitting on our kitchen counter by the stove. I peck a little bit on the piano keys and would love to find that exact arrangement some day.

My husband and I exchanged love letters before we were married, 44 years ago, and we kept,them all. He died last year, and I pulled his letters out of storage and read rhem all again. No it didn't upset me; it made me happy actually. I have Ketty Lester's version of Love Letters on a single and played it tonight for the first time in many years. Then I played Elvis' version. Hard to compare them they are both so beautiful .
