It seems like there's only 2 ways to beat this challenge. Either you have to get super lucky and not get any new cars at all near the end so you don't get the switch penalty, or you have to grind until you have (almost) every single car so you can't switch anymore.
Yea grindin is never really fun to do so probably was best to leave it here
And both of those ways could be soft locked if you get stuck with a car that's just too good, and you get stuck in a stalemate
GT4: Yeah that new Randomizer mod is so great and animates me for another playthrough
Enthusia: Rondomizer is a standard feature :)
I just started another playthrough and I switch cars fairly often because Enthusia has so much interesting stuff, the AI is quite slow thos which makes competing with a sh*tbox possible :)
This was such a good challenge to watch through, that segment with the Stratos was the highlight of that stream and it came in clutch so many times. It's just a shame about the penalty with swapping cars, that unfortunately killed most of the momentum with this challenge. Despite that it was really fun to watch through again, great video!
By far the most unique challange out there, i recomend it to anyone to try it 🙂
One of the interesting things about the Ferrari Challenge game is that in some races, there would be parts failures, that you have to drive with a malfunction, like something breaking in the steering or the transmission.
Tbh, i like Enthusia a bit more than GT4, the physics, the tracks, the music, and everything else just comes together to this masterpiece.
Changing the setup of your car is easier because there are just sliders but the tuning is worse because you don't get the performance figures, cannot pick and choose. The car might end up overloading the tires.

By the way I really like Enthusia but I find it's so much different from Gt4 that I don't think they were "competing" at the time
I love this game so much, this challenge is great for driving a bunch of different options you'd normally never do.
Massive Props to the Stratos for hitting so high above its weight but such a pity the run ended on this note.

Never in my life I seen a Silvia in any racing game would sucked to drive.
I have a simple challenge. Win the "King of the year Grand Prix" with no driving aides and with full manual transmission, any car of your choice at any Tuning level. Its the actual final race of the game that nets you the game's end credits, and its just two laps around the nurburgring with "Special" opponent AI. How hard can it be 😈😈😈😈
Ngl this seems like a much better way to play enthusia, when i played this i always went for the better performing car but i believe doing so just lessens the amount of points you can get in an event, using whatever car you get whether slower or faster actually helps in progression it feels like
I had the most success by never switching cars until I had my current one to Level 10. I reached top 50, but had no clear next option after the Alfa Romeo. I hate that the ratings matter so much and that the fast cars have so little to do.
Exactly two speedrun videos of this game exist. One was only gunning for rank #1. He brute-forced it with the Mitsubishi eK Wagon. The other was actually trying to win the final race. His plan? Take the eK Wagon until RIII was unlocked, at which point he could switch to the MR2 he won in the first race. He drove that MR2 all the way until he reached the final race, only then breaking out an R34 he unlocked over an hour before.
You could have tried to get a bunch of cars to make sure you couldn't earn any anymore, and intentionally end up in a crappy car that you couldn't get rid of, that would have ended up giving you a mountain of points to make up for all the ones lost! Really hate the ranking system myself honestly, simply assigning NPCs a rank and making it so you'd go up a rank if you encountered them in a race and won would have been much better (eg: beat rank 100 dude, you get his rank and he drops down one).
Also, SAABs are cool, you'd see them a lot here back in the day, they were the kind of car that was pricey, but it was well worth it for the reliability alone, while also having lots of luxury. It was something like a cheaper BMW without sacrificing much, wanted to get one when I grew up, but then the company went under.
For me as much as i love Gran Turismo 3 and have nothing but respect for Gran Turismo 4 and og Forza Motorsport - the true king of the genre in the 6th gen is Enthusia. Apart from few dumb decisions (like not unlocking cars from carrer to use in free ride), it's beautifull, has incredible atmosphere, unique tracks, amazing car list, and top notch driving mechanics.
It was a really nice video, you can tell that you have fun playing the game, I'm already looking forward to your next videos or streams
Thanks to OPL i can finally play this game now, and i've tried this chalenge... BOOOOY OH BOY!! After a whole weekend stuck in RIII i forfeit the challenge and started using a 22B to climb up the ranks! BUUUUUT, at the bright side, i have beaten a EB110 with a lvl 1 Saab 9-5 aero turbo and that was THE MOST FUN I'VE HAD PLAYING A RACING GAME IN YEARS!!!!

Dudebro, the problem of your strategy is that the mean average of the points earned of your last 9 runs determines whether or not you rise or fall through the ranks. E. g. you drive a shitbox with the odds stacked up sky high against you, win 9 races and skyrock through the ranks. All of the sudden the odds are stacked up high in your favor and the mean average of points earned decreases compared to the last 9 runs, so you fall through the ranks. You need at least consistency in your points earned in order to rise through the ranks.
@31:51 If you compete against a RUF, the race is going to be rough. BTW. it is not called "rough" but RUF like the German word for call.
I like this type of run. Its quite repeatable i think, since cars and events are randomized. Every playthrough would be different. Maybe change the rules to justnreaching top 20?
Challenge ended right around where I gave up on a normal playthrough. The game is almost really good, but that progression is a buzzkill.
If it didn't have that dumb penalty for changing cars it would be really good

Honestly, the game seems pretty decent. The only reason it didn't succeed I would say because it went under the rader while GT getting more famous, but not because it was a horrible game by itself.
That saxo would kick all asses in a autoslalom race, be careful.

Great run. Yeah reversing.... Reverse Suzuka was in another game I forget but Tsukuba is cool. Clean only, swap only max tune, car category, car roulette, 1 country. New mechanics offer more ideas.
OK, i didnt thought that u gonna do it a enthusia challenge, this was my first and the game that put me in racing games, but seeing this i imagine in a challenge that could be possible if you had luck. You need to play with the same car until it gets max level, when this happens, you must change to the nex tcar you win immediately.

I am wondering if you have ever played the PS2 game Ferrari Challenge: Trofeo Pirelli ?
As I recall, it has an "interesting" progression ... which I found to be something not in other racing games. I also remember it being extremely difficult at certain points. I was never able to finish the game.
Though I'd mention it, incase you haven't heard of it, or never played it. Might be something you would be interested in exploring and making a cool video about.

GT4 but ur overweight, play the game as normal but use the chat engine go make every car be 25 or 50% heavier than normal, that should be interesting, except for the tires that will suffer

@@DoVe_7 I once found a cheat table that sadly only works on a older version of the PCSX2 emulator that has those values to be tweaked with no major effort, but since it does not work with the newer versions neither the randomizer or spec II mod can be used, but it's at least possible to test it to see if it would even be actually interesting to do
