This tune never fails to make me tear up. We Americans have long since forgotten just how much we owe the brave soldiers, sailors and airmen of the British Empire who stood alone, with their backs to the wall, preserving what was left in the way of freedom for those nations that were looking on - especially this one.
Don't forget that many ancestors of current British regiments, most notably the grenadier guards at Bunker Hill with stood patriot fire five times and took the field! Less we forget indeed!!!
In the movie "Gandhi" directed by Richard Attenborough, this tune is played by an Indian Army Band, but in quick time. The Governor General of NWFP is getting down from the ship and there is a Guard of Honour waiting for him. The band strikes this tune for the "General Salute".

It's widely used as a general salute by British bands too
Scipio, the slow march of the Grenadier Guards!
This version of Scipio, is often played in India, when during state funerals when the pallbearers carry the coffin.
Reminds me of NYS 1988
Kilo Bravo!
This version, I am familiar with. It only lacks several drums and some special chromium music instrument to complete the melody.
Scorpio is also often played by the Nigerian army band,I like it the most when it's used to switch to quickmatch.
