That's my proposition. Sorry for my english, i'm french
Amanda Marcelle my sister when she was young she used to film trains and she saw a lot of Redbirds but after the stop using them she stop filming them her favorite train was the Redbirds
I rode them throughout my childhood. I remember them being loud, especially on express runs where it would reach higher speeds. Last time was around my last year of high school in 2003. I remember them just disappearing, I wasn't aware that they were all gone until a few years later.
I had never go to ride in those trains,my parents did and they told me about it and I have love them. I had rode in a R40 I loved the cabins and Doors. That time I was a baby when I rode it now I am 10. EDIT: I am now 12, I am thinking this video. I still miss you Redbirds… you were legendary to the Subways.
Nice tribute video, thank you for creating & uploading it for train enthusiasts & nostalgic NY'ers. Bought my two sons (4 & 12 yrs. old) MTH Red Bird work train in an O gauge yest. & can't wait to see their faces when they open it for Xmas as they've wanted it last Christmas but I settled for Polar Express model do to feasibility.
I rode these bad boys every day on the #7 line in the mid 80's. They were quiet, cool, comfortable, and relatively reliable, other than occasional door issues, quickly resolved by RCI's. I knew they were not as new and shiney as the cars on the IND line, but I liked them better anyway.......RIP Redbirds!

redbirds rip 1963-2003 for r36 and rip redbirds 1962-2003 for r33 the old days mannn I used to ride them on every irt line to every borough except staten island ah this gives me memories and ah yes the good old subway series 2000 and some of the Redbirds that stayed until 2010 I rode them on the 2 and 5 lines but before 2003 I rode them on all irt lines
The redbird has returned this year! They appeared on the (7) line as a celebration for the 7's 100th Anniversary! I have no idea when it started or when it ends.. :l Go to trainlurvs video to see them!
20 other sets of red bird subway cars could have been saved for emergency uses for the 2 and 5 trains including a couple other line for the 4 6 and 7 trains too! High tech trains still have issues sometimes too!
Exactly Ask your mom about the good old 70s Things were cheap back then in the city Rents were cheap the subway mite have smelled but the city was really FUN and people were not as up tight as there are now. I lived down in the village and used to go wash square alot even NYU was fun in the early days now the city sucks that is why i dont live there any more
It will never ever be the same so sad that I never got to ride the red birds because I was born on 2010 and the red bird servires was 1992 to 2003 Novenber 3 and so in November 2003 6 the red birds got dunes 💔
R33 and R36 was supposed to retire at least 2021-2022 but because of the trouble with air conditioning, rust stains, and frame issues it had to be retired early
no one will then take the NYC subway because the most of the riders are not part of your stereotype of loving old stuff because these types of people want new stuff to improve their commute and the red birds nowadays look unattractive, ancient, and dull
Originaly they came into service in 1963 for the flushing medows Worlds fair as the bluebirds , in 1982 at the peak of the subway Graffiti era they were the first fleet to be painted all white and became known as the white elephants until 1986 when they were sent to the 207.th street yard overhauled and painted with the red scheme in gunner red becoming known as the redbird fleet

“Wagons” LMAO
@@Boypogikami132 dude it’s just their English
@@tays.lover1989 yes I know what British English is I was just laughing at the fact that it’s the word “wagons”.
Even though I don’t live in New York City, I’m literally seeing this crying😢
They are still servicing, just the fish now!! They were beautiful, wish I'd lived back then. Seems like a simplier life.
They need to raise those HISTORIC TRAINS
King Quagmire A few cars are on the property for fan trips.
The R32 never dies however
So they stopped using them around the early 2000s wow I think I remember seeing a red train when I was 4 years old around that time

Maybe the sound of the train is the reason they’re getting scrapped or maybe it’s because they’re just old
