I think the reason we haven't heard anything is because of the disaster that was the launch of Cyberpunk 2077, game development companies in general are being careful to not overhype their game.
Comparing a new IP to a current IP is a bit different though.
@@gaymer618 but the same basic principles apply with regards to marketing anything. If you overpromise and underdeliver, you’re gonna piss off the fanbase. I’d argue that Bioshock has a big enough fanbase, if not a bigger fanbase than Cyberpunk 2077 in the video game sphere, considering that Bioshock is a well established video game IP. While Cyberpunk as an IP is admittedly popular in the TTRPG space, it is brand spanking new in the video game space compared to Bioshock.
I don't think bioshock 4 won't happen am guessing the last bioshock game was back at 2013 seems like a long long while ago now
Since this next game will probably take place in a new setting, it would be nice if Rapture plays a big part in a potential story DLC or something.
I'm just interested to see how good Rapture can look with todays graphical capabilities!

I honest to goodness think that Bioshock 4 needs to tie into the older games somehow. I mean, a reference to the underwater utopia gone wrong is one thing, but a reference to that and the floating utopia in the clouds? You have to acknowledge the past before you can move on to the future.
Plus, there's only three things that the game needs: A man, a lighthouse, and a city. Because no matter what universe you're in, there's always those three things.
BioShock 4 is becoming like Half life 3, Elder scrolls and GTA 6 at this point LMAO. I wonder what game will release first.

Grand Theft Auto 6! An announcement/reveal trailer for later this year, then 2024 release date. But not gone lie, I can see Rockstar holding on to this game for longer, strictly due to the lack of PS5/Series X users, everyone worldwide still hasn't fully converted over yet

I think its definitely in development hell. 2k not being happy could mean 2 things. Either cloud chamber is trying to do something very big and patronage or 2k wants them to something corporate like live service
I did notice that the website has less job listing. Which means it could be shaping up.
Remember Bioshock 4 has had 3 studios. It's been rebooted at least 4 times. Maybe 5. The London leak was the studio before cloud chamber. Now the game was originally going to be in a volcano. And now rebooted to antartic glacier. So they are definitely bouncing everywhere

I'm not mad that E3 is cancelled although the media age is advancing, most likely people would see the trailers on their phones and computers. The long hiatus of bioshock 4 is very concerning, it does make you wish development studios can be 100% honest and change up their plans when they want to reveal a teaser. Ken Levine just revealed his brand new game straight out of the water like a bathysphere, that you can appreciate the timing. 2k and take two have the whole 2023 year left, I'll give it till june for something to happen.
I'm gonna be honest and say I just think Bioshock isn't a priority within Take Two. Between the other juggernauts they deal with like GTA, NBA 2K and Borderlands, I'm sure they're not really hurting for marketable IP that brings in way more revenue than Bioshock ever has. That, combined with what another commenter said about the Cyberpunk launch disaster, I think they've been a little smart to play it so close to the chest so far. That being said, while the announcement of Bioshock 4 said it would be in development "for the next several years", I feel like four years out from the announcement would be a perfect time for an update on the project. If it's been facing troubles, address that, and give the community at least something to hold onto that assures them that yes, the game is still in development, it's still being worked on, it has not been cancelled. At the end of the day, I really just want a good modern Bioshock game. Exploring a locale unlike my own, finding audio diaries and having cool powers and weapons. I hope Cloud Chamber has been treated well during this process, because I always get worried about new studios in the AAA industry machine.

An artist always sees the mistakes in their artwork. This becomes a problem when the artist is also a perfectionist. They rework and over work, unintentionally creating something worse in the process.
May be my age now, but I'm noticing how quick time goes by. It just makes me a little sad to see the wasted potential. Everyone working on this game (and everyone not working on this game for that matter) should not feel stuck or in a hell. We should always be moving forward because time is gonna do that with or without you.
I hope no one is being too hard on themselves. And we can just put things into the world that makes everyone else smile.

I remember when the original bounty-hunter game concept, for what would have been Prey 2, got cancelled without any public announcement, which was a shame as I was pretty hyped for it back in the day, so hopefully the same thing won't happen with BioShock 4! Will definitely be keeping an eye on Judas as well. Have needed a game to look forward to now for some time to get me off Dead by Daylight 😆
A shame about the E3 ordeal, although was likely to be expected with the current climate of how much tech and the internet has advanced to make reaching a wider audience far more convenient for the companies themselves. Have many fond memories of watching E3 yearly with old xbox 360 friends for new releases, back when games felt more complete & not bug-ridden & overhyped messes like most AAA games tend to feel now.
i like to think they theyre just keeping their heads down and spending all their time and energy on development. just reading the history of the first BioShock development, it looks like they had a very different kind of game originally. between taking time before committing to a certain vision or story and games just taking longer to make these days with such complex engines and all that tech stuff, i don't mind just chilling til the next game comes out whenever
Hey i know its off topic but i recently noticed that you can hear sea eagles or other bird sounds in Neptune´s Bounty. I don't mean Songbird, just normal bird sounds. This shouldn't be a thing since we're under water, right? Do you know anything about that?
Presumably they're fake sounds meant to give the area more ambience.
At this point, E3 may as well never come back. Just let it die. Hopefully we get something on Bioshock this year, though.

Honestly, I feel like they need to do something because while they’re not saying anything, they’re not setting or managing our expectations sure imaginations can go wild because of the concept of BioShock, infinite/burial at sea, they could take the series in any direction they want to, and it would make sense
Judas is Bioshock 4 tbh, I've given up hope on an actual Bioshock 4 so I'll settle for Judas (which looks like it's gonna be another fantastic experience from Ken Levine)

I think bioshock 4 is in development hell. That the studio drop the ball big time. If cloud chamber want good publicity they HAVE to release something. I think they might of cancel bioshock 4 and putting thier head in the sand at this point. I think they don’t want the public to know they failed big time.

I was really hoping for a teaser or something to coincide with the 10th anniversary of Infinite. Without a peep and the lack of any information at all I have to agree with this game being stuck in development hell. Hopefully it does eventually come out, but I am glad we'll at least be getting Judas. Ken has never let me down!

Seems like we'll never know but I know nintendo was pretty tight laced about tears of the kingdom for a few years so it's possible irrational may be doing the same thing but I'm not as hopeful

Dame I thought at first it was his unorganised influence that held them back. But guess not. Hopefully this "game bureaucracy" can get sorted. I mean we are not in a similar state as some games at least. Like beyond good and evil 2 or skull and bones. BGE is stuck because they have no clear direction and skull and bones since they have had every problem imaginable, including borrowing money from the state of Singapore.
However Bioshock 4 is only shifted to a new release date. I'm sure it will clear up.

I have only played Bioshock Infinite. It came with the gaming PC I got when I was age 12. I dont know what it is with this game-but the aesthetic of WW2 era music, art deco architecture, christian evangelicalism, the science of genetic modification has grown on me ever since.

I suspect CC isn't talking or letting us know anything is because they are a bit scared of backlash. If someone says or shows something and it's not in the game or very different CC is afraid they will get hammered for it. There was some VERY nasty treatment of 2K Marin's social person for BioShock 2 and even today more than a few people are STILL pissed that BioShock Infinite didn't look like the early looks at the game. So better to say nothing and not get hammered later. sm
Yeah it sucks that E3 is dead but I still have hope for summer games fest, any PlayStation or Xbox directs and game awards at the end of the year. Hoping that Judas and Bioshock movie will keep me satiated in the meantime

Well they showed EldenRing at summer game fest after 2 years of absolute silence from Fromsoftware (also known as the era of The Great Hollowing, absolute madness, I was there, not very cool). So its possible something like Bioshock is announced at SGF too 🤔
About Bioshock 4, here is my take: game was in preproduction for a very long time, was never officially announced until Schreier leaked it like the absolute untrusty person he is, game was in development hell for a long time, and we only heard recently about how they hired that one person you made a video about. And I believe she was a writer (for FarCry and others). Now think about it: what kind of project need a writers so late in development? Unless the actual development never really started... its just a lot of red flags Im pretty sure its one of these projects that takes too long because too many ideas and no real direction... (Im an expert in that Im a comic artist and one of my project is in development hell too 😂 but Im sure one day people will be able to buy it). Also I have to thanks Bioshock for completely changing my way of creating worlds of fiction.
Will be almost impossible to top a game like Bioshock and hell, even Bioshock 2. Its like trying to top a book like "Crime and punishment" i am pessimistic. I think Bioshock will be OK no more. If it is better game than Bioshock infinite i am happy though

As a bioshock fan, i'm sort of against the development of this game because I don't think there needs to be another bioshock game in the cancer that is the modern-day state of gaming. So basically I'm totally fine that the game was announced 4 years ago and we've still yet to see a product.

I think video game marketing sabotages the games they are meant to sell. These devs should only announce games when they are about to three months from going gold. Waiting years and years between announcement to final product is tiresome. When Apple announces a new product, it’s available within 30 days.
