- Time for the Brembo BBK to go on the M3, these have been sitting here at HQ for awhile. These are 380mm kit from Brembo, I have 6 piston calipers in the front and 4 piston calipers in the rear. They looks amazing & as you would imagine, they stop amazingly well.

Be honest guys...who else was shocked Matt didn't have a fancy brake bleeder tool? The coke bottle brought a smile to my face. That's the way I've always done it too.
The car looks awesome with all the new mods.
I was surprised for sure
I know lol, I was expecting the super nice one like the dealer has that screws to the top of the overflow
These brakes cost more than my Miata lol
Rotors alone could buy a miata lol
So does my office chair lol :)
Sick brembos, but bleeding was supposed to be started from rear right wheel, then rear left, front right , and then front left via ISTA or any other scanner which activates abs pump during bleeding to remove excessive air from the system.
Cordless heat gun.....holy crap.
I believe that's the first time I've seen one of those. Pretty cool.
@@garybeckmann5007 We use them at my work. Not that uncommon.
I didn't see a cable I was surprised it kept'd working without charge they are power hungry
I've had a master mechanic help me with several DIY car projects and LIKE MIKE, he had a wonderful command of all-things-mechanical. It's a pleasure watching him work!
Wow, that looks good! I actually like how it looks with the OEM wheels. Very clean and aggressive. Thanks for sharing Matt👍
Suspension work to me so satisfying. I’m doing ball joints, poly sway bar bushings, poly sway bar end links and new OE outer tie rods on Project Father & Son Mustang today. Brembos are on my radar along with slotted rotors and SS brake lines. My 19 year old son will be road racing this car so I want the best for him. Congrats on the M3 progress, doing the right parts.
They look amazing! Especially in yellow, good job guys
Dude that’s legit. Like actually legit.
Looks Awesome! Can't wait to see the wheels... That will be the icing on the cake!
Looks soooo clean and classy. Truly beautiful car and I look forward to what you do next with it!
MAN that car looks sharp. Just the changes made thus far have truly transformed it already.
FYI both bleeders need bleed on each caliper and the bleeding should be done from farthest caliper from abs unit to closet caliper
True in many cases, But the final decision is down to what the manufacturer recommends and you should always refer to what the manufacturer states instead of working of previous knowledge learnt from automotive schools or other sources.
That big brake kit just completes the car, especially in that yellow.
Agreed the yellow is definitely a classic color for a big brake kit
The car is nearly perfect!
I think I need a BBK in my life.
Absolutely, not hating on red calipers but it's always nice and refreshing seeing something different.
It definitely pops and works really well against that blue. Great choice IMO
Should never paint the face of a hub, as it is machined flat and any unevenness can cause brake judder.
Paul Sims they paint it to keep the break hat from sticking to the hub
Also is the paint "isolating" heat transfer from disk into to the hub and arms. A certain heat exchnacge of disk and hub+arms must happen
agree, if they would check disc run out it would be definitely off as no way he sprayed same thickness layer of pain on all surface of hub. Aswell i would be worried it will act as glue and will stick disc (rotor) to hub
For the amount of money an M3 costs they should come with this style of corner set up. Not much point in having all that power and then cheap out on the brakes. Good video pal, that motor is looking better every time I see it. Like the yellow callipers against the blue.
This is what it’s all about! Rocking video💪
Your M3 is getting dialed in nicely 👌!
Man! I'm excited for your new brakes! I've always been hesitant to buy aluminum DBA rotors, I can't wait to see how they work for you!
Those brakes are a diagonally split system. The circuits are LF/RR,RF/LR. You can't just bleed the fronts, then the rears. Follow the bleed procedure or you won't be enjoying a firm pedal like you could be. Looks great! Keep up the good work!
Erik Krauss I believe that to be true if I’d done all four corners and waited to bleed until the very end. In that case I’d have started from the right rear. To me and you can correct me if I am wrong here but if some one was simply doing a front big brake kit and leaving the rear stock they’d install the fronts and bleed the front only. I basically did a complete front install including bleed like it was an independent install to the rears. In the end we had a nice firm pedal and all new fluid.
Tamato tamaaato
I've only had to follow that exact order if the entire brake system including the ABS modulator is totally void of fluid. Otherwise the leaky caliper gets the bleed. But good practice is good practice
Those breaks are HUGE. They look awesome
the e92 M3 looks soo good with these Brembo´s !!! love it! awesome car with the 1 M coupe.
So nice to have a team of great guys working together
So nice to have a team of "white"guys work together. There's more diversity in my sock drawer than in that town.
Martin Rocha why even make a comment like that !
Invest in a Motive Speed bleeder. I did and you can bleed brakes faster by yourself. Nice E92 build. I too went from a F80 back to an E92 M3
Beautiful, love the yellow on blue...
That was good, that was pretty good!! 14:20 😆
Btw, the brakes looks amazing man!
Gotta love the yellow calipers!!!!
That set up is unreal.
BMW has a bleed function built into the ECU. Might want to look into that.
That's for the traction control/ABS, not needed for a caliper replacement.
@@JKGarageBMW no, there is a specific bleed function built in. I know I've used it before. B is for build also did it on his BMW swapped Datsun and he said it was way better than the "normal" way
The bleeding procedure was fine since the caliper that was replaced was bleed right after. For good measure you can do it with a scanner from the furthest out.
Looks awesome.
Will you continue including these dudes in your videos??
I liked it how it was. If you're evolving, don't veer off too much from your roots.
My buddy and I took his STI for tires, American tire is usually pretty good than most places but they still manage to scratch up the rims! Matt I wish we had a dedicated high-performance chain of stores that dealt only with obsess people like us I’m tired to get my rims dinged up! I don’t mind them taking their time they don’t have to speed up I’m not the average person, I just freaking hate when they do that!
I bleed my calipers before I mount them. I fill them up, then tilt the calipers to get the air out of the piston recesses on each side, then fine bleed, then mount.
Those brakes are sweet!
looking good!
Those things are sweet. Hope to see some post swap tests.
Any thoughts on doing an E46 M3 Matt? I know they have ~10 potential motor and chassis grenades but the driving experience is beyond fantastic once those things are sorted.
Looks good.
Lokking forward to the new wheel rims
best looking bmw m3
Awesome mods!
For a split second I looked at the thumbnail and thought you put under glow lights on haha
You should of did a brake distance test before and after. Why?? “Cause I’m a sucker for the data” haha looks great matt. Those brembos are going to stop on a dime and throw change back 🤣
Matt you need to get yourself an electric brake bleeder. An ATE FB30SR. The blue would match the rest of your gear too.
so does Matt just have a bunch of car guys working at his shop now or what, where did all these cats come from
Just wondering if you plan to sell the used oem calipers and rotors?
Do you use something to prevent rust on the rotors?
Where are the fender covers ?
8:24, the look of terror as he realizes he didn't buy new bolts but rather used the ones that just came off the car. lol
Rotor runout IS a real thing!
Any reason you didn't go for an AP racing kit?
Wow ! I don’t think I’ve seen a cleaner E9X M3 !
don't you need to cut the rear dust cover? it seems cover contacts the rear rotor
Please do a rolling shot with the dark HRE's and those yellow Brembos! In motion, the wheels will disappear and it'll look killer.
cant wait for the HRE's to arrive, which model did you get?
I have had my E92 for 8 years now, and installed stoptech BBK myself.
1. You did not remove the rear dust shield, will it not rub against the new rotor?
2. Why did you not use a pressure pump when bleed the system, and should probably do it all at once from the furthest to the closest to the master cylinder.
Nelson Lou flexed it out of the way for clearance. It didn’t need to be removed.
Ooooh Yes lol. When money isn't really an object. Matt has seriously gone from strength to strength since day 1.
170nm is about right. Caliper take a bunch of stress. Example is a dodge dart front brake calipers bolt takes about 130ft/lbs. Also i would not have painted the hub, can cause issues real easily
Do your sonic tools come with a 16mm socket?
How is the pedal feel with the larger calipers?
I have this same kit i need the rear rotors where can i find them and buy them ?
Cabinets are killer but are the sonic logos sticker or painted? It's a lot of logos! OCD says they need to be removed.
Can i fit the m5 f90 brakes on the e92? And what braket do i need ...where to get them
Slon machined Brembos? Which pads are you using for the street?
thanks for this video, just bought my kit! $9,000 for it jesus christ lol but this car needs it
How is the brake in period?
Where’d you buy this kit at? Could use this for my mustang
I've some critical pointers for people installing peformance brakes;
All aluminum Brembo calipers have a low thread torque, normally around 60 _ftlb_ front and around 30 _ftlb_ rear *_EDIT or until the lock washer flattens._* The steel caliper bolts need to be grade *10+* and coated with only copper anti-seize if you reuse them after the factory zinc coating wears off.
Steel and aluminum produce galvanic corrosion when exposed to an electrolyte like salt water, the bolts will fuse to the calipers without the zinc coating or copper anti-seize. If silver anti-seize is used it'll rapidly corrode and ruin the calipers.
It's strongly recommend to buy a Motive Power Brake Bleeder with the billet master cylinder reservoir adapter since brake fluid corrodes plastics that aren't ABS. It'll make the job so much easier and make fluid flushes every year a breeze!
Brake bleeding with dual bleeder calipers is best done with the inner bleeder first, then the outer bleeder. Then bleed the inner bleeder again while tapping on the caliper housing with a soft rag covered rubber mallet to assist air bubbles out, then repeat the same with the outer bleeder.
Always remove the standing brake fluid from inside the bleeder nipples before capping it off because brake fluid is hydroscopic (pulls water from the atmosphere) and will rust the bleeder nipples, preventing later service.
Brakes are very important, always treat them like it. Copper anti-seize is your best friend :]
Gamma Light The kit came with instructions calling out 170nm. I went with a lesser 130nm which is about 100ftlb
@@MikeFigueira I'm not surprised at all, they still haven't fixed the torque settings in the instructions yet eh.. I'm convinced Brembo wants people to strip threads, it's a very common complaint against them.
@@MikeFigueira 100 ftlb sounds about right for the weight of that car. If it was me, I'd have been content with 80 ftlbs but I can't advise anyone to deviate from the instructions even if I know they're wrong
Your friend should have de-greased the disc brakes before installing.
There is a thin anti-rust protective oil film on new disc brakes.
Have you ever considered a stud conversion? Super helpful for my m3 and especially for diy'ers
I have a set for the HREs.
Great Job, and very nice combo! Mike is portuguese? I see some portuguese skills ahah
Gil MCSr56 You are correct
@@MikeFigueira ahaha 🇵🇹 excelente trabalho! Um português sabe fazer tudo e nunca diz que nao!
Never ever have seen someone paint hubs. I don't think it's a good idea
Do you have the PN of the Brackets?
Were the calliper brackets custom made or did it come together as part of the BBK. The whole set up looks stupendous.
They are part of the Brembo kit.
I really want to buy that car when it’s time for it..., come to Sweden babe...😊🏁
I just came here to read all the “YoU’rE DoInG It WrOnG” comments from all the BMW master Tech’s. Was not disappointed. 😂😂😂😂
Derek Hanson It’s all good, It’s always going to happen when you make videos like this.
Mike Figueira I’d let you work on my car You guys did just fine.
i did not see it in video but brake discs (rotor) should be cleaned with brake cleaner to wipe protective layer of oil from manufacturer
Paint the wheels black and that yellow brembo will pop like crazy.
Wow, suprised the kit worked with the OEM Wheeks. I hear there is usually problems.
It would drive me crazy that the hub clips are different from the front 380 to the back 355.
I’m confused, so you guys bled the fronts before the rears? Pretty sure you should start with the rears furthest from mc. Unless I missed something
Juan Esteban no that’s correct. Always start with the furthest away from the servo and finish with the closest to the servo
I did the front install and bleed before I ever started the rears. Think of it as two separate installs.
Glad you're getting new wheels. The factory wheels are too tucked.
If you plan on getting rid of those OE rotors hit me up!
Love it but just wondering why did you choose yellow?
Old GT3 vibes
Exactly.... old blue gt3
I think that the yellow goes well with the blue, good combo. IMO.
Because everyone does red...
Do these brakes need to be coded through the car after install ?
No, there is no such thing as that with brakes.
You didn’t bled the breaks properly, you should’ve install all four kits and then bleed them starting from the farthest corner first! Anyway great video as usual and awesome car mate!!!
Ha, ha... They were bled just fine.
Obsessed Garage I’m sure they were, I’m just saying what is the correct way!!!
The HRE’s have been arriving in a couple of days for a couple of months!
I'm lying about buying them.
Obsessed Garage 😄
well the metal sissor was nice and sharp so the better choice, cause the grinder would have throwen sparks every where.
regards
Sören
could you atleast give him a new hat ,the old one is really dirty he he
ps. i feel your pain not getting new bolt´s to hold the disc, hat it when i forget some parts, will be dubbel checking my vw up gti brake upgrade before install time
did you forget to paint the dust covers where you cut them???
as long as the brake fluide is always topped off ,it should not be a problem doing the front´s and then the rear, but some times you need to drive a few days them do them all again, and ignition on other wise the abs is closed . on most german cars there are 6 hoses 2 front and 4 in the rear, 2 by the calibers and 2 from the body to the control arms.
Painting machined hubs? Not worried about rotor runout?
Nope
120ftlb is normal for those. Mine were 114
I hope you took those guys out to Ruth Chris after all they did. :)
That must have been a LONG a day. I notice there were only 3 of you left at the end.
Yeah...9AM to 10PM.
What what!? You didn't have a Schwaben pressure bleeder ready? Very disappointed Mat. jk, always enjoy you videos, keep up the great work.
We can't win them all. Ha, ha...
Awesome upgrade, i remember when I got mine, on my EVO, I sat and looked at them everyday they are do damn porn.
Matt out of interest, whats Mike's background? he has quite abit of modifying knowledge
Why does Mike look like Jason Bateman at times lol
OzSimRacing That’s the first time I’ve heard that. I wish I was as funny haha
Oh, he put some new fancy brakes on his car, this means he wont keep the car for much longer.
Ahahahaha
Wish I could have stayed late Sunday. Those darn Tesla drivers.
What was the total $$$price for the brembo kit???
I think it was about $9,000.
Are would like to apply at OG.. 🤓
