That's choice info bro! One other thing that improved my running performance a great deal was strengthening my core as it means I can keep my back straighter when running and not have my shoulders slump forward once I get a bit tired. This allows me to maintain better form, for longer

Hey Brad, thanks for outlining these studies so well. I’ve added both drop jumps and box jumps into my strength regimen. For me the studies show that probably all / most plyometrics are important for improving running performance. It may be less important exactly which ones you do.

I'm curious if the running program in these studies included any strides or hill sprints? If they were lacking, it explains why the treatment group that included any form of strengthening exercise at all (in this case plyometrics) had greater improvements.
Absolutely right. The runs were just 30min runs to keep variables under control. I’m sure having hill sprints as one of the run sessions would give improved times also.
Would I see better results for running with single leg or double leg drop jumps?
This would be a good progression if able.

Yes. Although make sure it’s low to start with. The study suggests 45cm. I used a higher box and my form suffered
