John Subblett ("BUBBLES") was a great dancer, but he was a highly respected singer of songs also. He had a great voice. His "forte" was his repertoire of "song verses." At one time, most songs had a verse which introduced, or set up the song. John knew so many verses that he could sing a verse for one song to introduce another song! His "show biz" colleagues would wait off stage as he sang a verse and they argued among themselves on the way to their dressing rooms, trying to determine what song the verse really belonged to. Bubbles demonstrated this skill several times as a guest on the Author Godfrey radio show. ( H. A. May )
I found this after watching a 1997 interview with Sammy Davis Jr's Mother talk about all the places she's worked and people she and her husband knew. Buck and Bubbles is one many she's worked with.
