I made BAD BARB - Barbie Android

- For about three years I have had this idea to take a Barbie and turn her into an android. I can find Barbie's cheap at garage sales so why not make a custom toy out of one. Well, Bad Barb fought me to the end. Everything I thought would be great turned out awful but I wasn't gonna let Bad Barb get the best of me, so I fought back!
Using a Zurg arm from the Buzz Lightyear movie and a little custom toy magic, I took this Barbie and made one Bad Barb! I also added a simple diorama base for her to stand on.
Even though she was a pain, the end result turned out pretty cool (although not at all what I was thinking in my head).

This build is really inspiring for me. It's not "nice" to see someone struggle with a build, but it's a reminder that none of us are perfect and that everyone, whether new at crafting or a veteran, can have those builds that just get away from them. I admit it was scary in the middle there, but it was exciting to see how you recovered and you did a fantastic job! Man that first warrior paint job was absolutely awesome, would love to see a second attempt at that one! The final result is great as well, makes me think she's some kind of battle droid that doesn't actually want to fight, it just wants to be found pretty.
I made one of these cybarbie dolls about 3 months back and they're loads of fun to build, but the anime eyes are definitely a pain to work around. I opted to just cover the eyes up with a visor but the idea of painting them smaller is actually kind of genius, keep up the good work!

As someone that makes Cyborg Barbies, as well as demon barbies, next time soak the head in hot water to pop it off. Will make dealing with the hair and the painting much much easier

A lot of us struggle with our builds. The magic of editing makes the CZcamsrs we watch seem perfect. It was nice to see one where you had to fight with it and it didn't go how you wanted it. Sure, all your videos shouldn't be like this, but thank you for sharing a tough one. Makes me feel a little better about my own work. Besides, I think she turned out really good, even if she was more android than cyborg. Well done!

Hair was the color of copper wire. The whole thing gave off a worn, archaic tech vibe. Like this had been made for a war in an older time, but had somehow survived and continued to fight. More a death robot than a cyborg to me and i like that.

without joking, if this were a new toy for sale that Mattel would sell, it would be the first doll/action figure that would fascinate boys and girls at the same time. is like if the Barbie franchise amalgamated with Max Steel, with all its villains and accessories with a gritty, tone. that would be cool

The only thing you could have added to improve it was a glowing red LED eyeball. Love the start contrast of the hair to the rest. This is the second best video on how to turn a doll into a droid. That said, it's also only the second video I've seen on CZcams showing how to turn a doll into a droid.

You did a very decent job not bad for your first time to customize in a Barber doll but just remember you're very first custom job that you ever did probably what your best evil but you got better keep up the good work there are a lot of people who do customized Barbie dolls I wish I knew their pages you can go to and they can help you out and give you the big Macon gave you some good ideas to do the next time awesome job 👍👍👍👍

👍👍🎉🎉, I see nothing wrong with this build.. I did find it amusing that you had a modesty screen covering her during surgery. I didn't notice if you sanded her body down before applying any paint. Sometimes they have a glossy surface. There's a lot of potential here. Don't give up.

Painting the legs was a snap dry so I didn’t sand anything but I did put a clear coat at the end to help things from scratching off.

I think it looks pretty good in the end but I think there's too much silver. I would have done a flesh or other light color for the face to give some color contrast and a finish that isn't metallic.

Looks great. I made a Whorse Barbie with a My Little Pony head and some waterslide decal tattoos. Then I dressed her in a tight mini skirt and leather jacket. White hockey tape is also good as bandages. You can lay out a long piece and then cut narrow straps and wrap it just like a bandage.

…and if I heard you right, you might have several Barbies to mod…perhaps you could revisit your previous ideas to create a League of Anti-Spice Girls! That’d be something to see!

Also if you sand her body with auto zone sand paper you can then boil it in rit dye and change her color.
It really looks great, a great outcome!
However I must say that the warpaint concept is too cool to be left behind. You've got more dolls, so maybe you should retry it in a future.

What are the small power tools that you use to cut allomuion stuff
The only power tools are used on this was my Dremel and a regular drill gun. I also used a drill press in my garage off camera to drill the holes in the base.
The heads glue leached into the hair due to heat so you coat it with goo gone and leave it for 20 minutes and then wash out with dish soap. These new dolls suck major ass in the way they make them nowl 😅

I've hacked up a few barbie's trying to do a Cyber barbie, this is a hard build, hard material, so far I have one that turned out decent. I've had better success using dollar store knockoff barbie, plastic material is lower quality. much more cooperative and easier to work with.
I can totally see the Dollar Tree doll being easier to use…
So much cringe, but the end result is great! I think Barbie dolls are hard to make look a certain way other than bubble gum...lol
