I love MIDI software that lets you step outside circular 4/4, 6/8, 12/8 meters. The fact that each pattern can have its own independent time signature offers up a wealth of creative possibilities.
I’m a great fan of 5/4 time. Nobody else out there really makes it that easy! Thanks for your two products, I hope to purchase more as you roll out an amazing collection. Can’t wait to try Beat Scholar and EON-arp together in some of my creations…
i love the feature where you can just make the loop depend on the amount of notes of a certain measure. perfect polyrhythm machine, simplified maximally, reduced in the most essential way

It would be great in the future to be able to create a pattern inside eon arp and be able to drag out that midi to a timeline for those who don’t use abelton. my suggestion would be similar to how plugin boutique’s scaler 2 allows a user to record the midi info using scaler 2’s various performance settings. does that make sense to everyone.
Right... good idea. We could only do it if you use MIDI file for the input (and not external input), but in that mode we can certainly allow for export. We'll think of the best way to implement this!

@@Modalics Inside OMNISPHERE you can create an ARP and then drop the MIDI file from say Spectrasonic's Stylus RMX. I just mention this as a possible reference on how they are able to drag and drop a MIDI file between their various apps.
The Omnisphere ARP, as I understand it, has a record/capture option which behaves a little like a simple tape, so you can record the chords you're playing before exporting the MIDI.
Is that what you mean?
really going to enjoy this... I might see if I can increase the size but it's not a major issue. I need to figure out how to use it with Reaper and an external synth... I'll figure it out. A solid purchase. I keep seeing "free" (like in comments below) but I could only figure out how to buy it (maybe it changed and went premium only)... glad I did , either way, to support Modalics.

A little internal sequencer for the patterns would also be great, so you don't have to trigger them via low notes

I've been having a lot of fun with this plugin, especially when routing the Klimper chord sequencer through it.
Would it be possible to add a feature to set velocity to a curve if you have multiple notes selected? Rather than setting velocity per note, you could select a section and have it ramp smoothly over the number of notes selected? Or randomize velocity within a certain range?

EON-ARP looks like the arpeggiator I’m seeking - others I’ve looked at have horribly complicated UI, or baffling number of features. This has the right balance - intuitive, clean UI & flexibility with time signatures.

Great freebie many thanks from an arp nut! I don't know if it's just me, but I couldn't get the arp to trigger another synth on another Ableton Live track unless I used the vst3 version of your arp. Once I got that, I was away.
Yes, it can only work in Ableton Live with VST3 or VST2!

You could add option of stretching the grid, so rhythms like Rival Consoles - Recovery (acceleration / decelaration) are easily done.
If I understand you correctly, you can already do that, the grid has a 'length' factor, and you can change that to make patterns speed up and down.
So for example you can copy/paste a single pattern into the 8 slots, and only change the length of the pattern to be, say, 1/8, 2/8, 3/8...
And then sequence those patterns one of the other using keyswitches.

I really like the way this works, especially with inversions. If you could add long / multi-step notes, it would be amazing for sketching melodies as well.
You can create as long notes as you like! You can drag the length to be whatever you want. And you can make the patterns really long, too...

@@Modalics Thanks for the reply! I ended up figuring out that the select tool can extend note lengths - since it didn't work while I was on the draw tool.
By multi-step, I just meant long notes haha.
This might be asking for too much, but would it be possible to add random note generations in a future patch? Like clicking a button to add a random assortment of notes, similar to how Phrasebox and other MIDI generators work. Just to help with inspiration and such.

Great step! Almost what I’ve been looking for, viz, an arp for players vs programmers where I can play in a midi sequence and then use that as/in an arp. It would be useful and popular for the orchestral vst crowd who often want to create ostinatos! Can you do this?
EON-Arp doesn't have a way to record the arp pattern over MIDI, but that is something our engine can do internally... maybe its something we'll add in the future but I'm not sure it will go into the free version EON, possibly only a paid feature.
This is pretty cool. Is there a way to copy out the midi from the plugin, say over to another instrument track?
Absolutely! EON-Arp should show up as a MIDI input into another track, so you can route that to any VST or record the MIDI
Hi aaawesome plugin! I need help with routing the Arp to a software synth in Ableton 11! I just don't get what is wrong, but I got one midi channel with the Eon-Arp running (with Monitor set to "in"), Synth section in Eon turned off and record button armed (playing midi notes with my computer keyboard). Second Midi Channel with Serum e.g., also Monitor set to "in" and Midi routed from first Midi Channel, post FX. Why do I only get a signal without the Arp processing? If I exchange the Eon Arp with the Ableton stock Arp-plugin it starts to work as it supposed too... Didn't find any tutorials or routing advices in the manual... appreciate any help!
So, two things to do:
1. You need to load EON as VST/VST3 (but not AU).
2. You need to choose EON in the input after selecting the track (not "Post FX"), which will only work on the VST version.
We're showing a similar routing with Beat Scholar here, but that should work the same with EON:

Hey guys, Im having a lot of fun with EON, but I noticed that when I hit a low C on my controller keyboard (C1 i guess, perhaps C0), it immediately switches the preset to the last of the 8 presets in the browser at the top of the graphic. Keyboard switching could be very useful (especially for live use, which is what I use it for), but can I specify within the plugin which keys change to which preset? It seems I can't MIDI map or Keyboard map this in Ableton. Cheers!
The snapshots on the top row of EON are mapped to the natural tones between C0 - C1
If you right click one of the snapshots you can see their keys as well as copy and paste them :)
Currently it's not possible to map them differently.
The lowest keys of the keyboard do not change the patterns with ableton live. Do I have to set something in order to do it?
It's the notes: C0, D0, etc.
(Right click the pattern to see the exact note note name).

Absolutely it can! :)

Trigger range for the 8 patterns is too high. Can this be switched off or shifted down a few octaves. I use scaler and it keeps triggering pattern changes. Also when I manually enter chords I have to drop the output range down and play higher up the keyboard.

Is there a way to play only one note when you have more than one row drawn? if I want to play a certain note and then switch to chorded play, now if I play one note and I have more than one row drawn, it will automatically play octaves
mmmm. Not sure it's possible ATM (other than switching to a pattern that's monophonic).

Yeah, sure! I've never used Maschine so I'll need to investigate, but the flow should be identical to other ARP plugins like BlueArp, Cthulhu, etc, so perhaps there are already some tutorials online?
I have chord progression i made but i just wanted to edit the groove without altering the notes? how i would do that?
If I understand you correctly, you can just move the notes around/change the swing in the EON piano roll with the select brush to do that?

How do I stop the plugin from always changing notes in that far left column?
Those notes are related to the chord input you're inputting. If you've used File mode, those files have whatever chord change that's in them. You could use a more static input maybe, maybe use EXT mode or your own file?

Im struggling to get it to work with pigments or any soft synth - I set it to external and choose pigments as the sound source but nothing comes out
Are you sure you don't mean the other way around? The way to route it would be to send EON's output to the sw synth and not the other way around.
Also keep in mind that you need to input midi into EON for it to apply the pattern you see. If you're on EXT mode just play something on your midi keyboard into EON to make sure it's playing properly or create a midi event on the midi channel that's inputting EON.

hi, i just bought this and i'm using it in ableton (standard 11.2.11), but i cant seem to get it to play a software synth? i have eon set up and seemingly working correctly, the arps play on the internal synth, but when i set up another soft synth, it wont play through? I have the software synth set to "midi from: eon arp" in the first box, but in the second, where in your video the box says "eon arp", mine just says "pre-fx" or "post-fx". i have monitor set to "auto" on the soft synth and "in" on eon, as in your video. any ideas why it wont play? many thanks!
Hey! Is it possible you loaded EON-Arp as an AU plugin? Try loading it as a VST3. :)

First make sure that you installed the VST3 version during installation. Then, in Ableton Live's Setting - make sure Plugins->Use VST3 Plug-In System Folders is selected.
You should then be able to select the VST3 and AU options for each plugin that has both. I'm happy to also show screen shots and such, but for that maybe come to our discord/email? :)

@@dannybrazen you can do that with the sustain pedal! Adding a dedicated hold might be fun though. :)
i couldn't find the 2nd MIDI from drop down menu. what am i doing wrong?

Very nice Product, but how do I apply an instrument from my daw to it? I work with Studio One and EastWest Opus Orchestra, I want to create a string ostinato. So how can I bring EON to work with Opus as the soundsource? I don't wanna use the internal Synth.
Here’s a quick video on routing Beat Scholar in Studio One to work with other samplers. Should apply the same way to EON.. you can turn off the internal synth with the little blue toggle next to the “SYNTH” title.

@@Modalics Thanks, but there are no presets in my EON, it just shows "default" with no possibilitiy to choose or change anything. For the moment EON is useless for me. Pity.
I see now: it's a S1 internal window which shows only "default" presets, not the one in EON. But there is no possibility to route any other than the internal ones.

What's the problem exactly? Are you not able to go into a category like "Graphic" and choose a preset? What about if you use the preset arrows?
would be great if the amount of steps up and down (piano roll) was freely configurable so I can have +/-7 or even +/-12
i cant figure out how to get it to control another synth when i send it to another channel in ableton it just sends the midi on the channel without the arp effecting it. please help
Hey! Make sure you're: A. Running the VST3 version (not the AU version), and make sure you follow the exact steps at around 11:20, including monitor settings/etc.

i ended up figuring out i couldnt do the routing properly from the arrangement view and had to flip over to session to get it routed the right way

Does it have MIDI drag out?
No... that gets a little confusing with an ARP because you need some chord input to be able to drag something. But you can of course record the MIDI output of it.
Is there an Scale Function?
Yes and no. :) EON-Arp will only lock you to the notes you send in. Which means if you play notes in key you'll get them in key. :)
However - if you send a full scale in (and we have all of the basic ones in the preset MIDI files), you will get the equivalent of a scale lock.
11:29 is there any way to do this in FL Studio?
Yes of course - more than one.
I think the standard way is in the channel rack in FL you can assign MIDI out to the ARP, and the same MIDI in to any other plugin.
There are some tutorials online on how this works with other arp plugins like BlueArp and Cthulhu.
(I also think there should be a way to use the patcher but I haven't tried).

I’ve been trying to use EON ARP with my Studio One 5.5. How do I use it with Piano presets in my DAW? Any ideas?
You can open two instrument tracks, and then choose the input of the piano sound to be from EON-Arp.

Which DAW are you using? When you load it you have to play some MIDI into it, either MIDI from your controller, or switch the input to File mode and play either the built in files or your own. For that mode you will also need to hit 'play' in your DAW.
It would be great if velocity could be expressed numerically.

Well, they're both arpeggiators, and Cthulhu does have a step sequencer built in... but the two do things in a totally different way.

Haha! EON-Arp sends MIDI so you can connect it to any synth.

I just tried it using Bluecat to connect it to another synth because Maschine does not allow otherwise. Crash crash crash
@@Sneakycat1971 thanks for reporting! We just posted version 1.0.2 that fixes the crash in Blue Cat Patchworks.

It doesn't work in Reason Studios
I just tested it in Reason 12 and it does work.
However, since Reason (AFAIK) doesn't allow MIDI from one plugin to another, so only the built in synth will work. You can use something like Blue Cat Patchworks or Unify to create a chain within Reason.

I figured it out in Reason y’all might want to give a tutorial for Reason users and add a midi drag out in the future.
@@machoman7655 Thanks! MIDI Drag is not very simple with an Arpeggiator ( because you need some sort of recorded note input so the arp would "know" what to drag out.
We could maybe add MIDI drag but only to file mode, not sure how its possible in EXT mode.
You could however just record the MIDI output of the arp once you actually provide some chords in.
Please, remove the limit for -5 +5 pitch amplitude and limit for 128 steps, make everything limitless, then this plugin will be a masterpiece.

@@Modalics Sure, that way one could input not a chord, but a whole scale. Write a progression in the plugin and then switch scales to hear how the same progression works with different scales.

What do you mean by out of of sync? Is it happening in a specific DAW? In the demos here I'm showing polyrhythmic patterns that are intentionally out of sync.

Is it possible to send usb midi to hardware?
Yes. In the standalone you can pick the MIDI out device, which can be a USB MIDI device. In the plugin version this is even easier of course!
