  • Hi, in this trip report or review or travelmentary, I'm showing you my experience in KLM's great business class product onboard the Boeing 787-9. I flew from Amsterdam Schiphol (AMS) to San Francisco (SFO). My special thanks go to the fantastic crew on that flight, that made it a pleasure to fly and to create this review!
    Music: I compose the music for my videos myself using Apple Logic X Pro, Garage Band for iOS and other software and instruments

    Wow. That's literally the next level of video production if you even produced the music by yourself! Keep rocking it. As you commented on my latest video - let's fly to 4000 Subscribers by the end of 2019... Would be well deserved

      Oh really that was the same for me at first, but it takes a little bit of experimenting. I can recommend Garage Band to start, it is such a massive program even on iOS - and it‘s free of charge.

      @@travelmentaryTV Yes, I tried to use Garage Band but I have no clue how to use it on a macbook 👎🏼

    • @travelmentaryTV
      @travelmentaryTV  Před 4 lety

      Ah, I see on Macbook it‘s a bit more difficult. In my experience you would need some sort of Midi controller (aka a keyboard) or you could connect another iOS device with Logic Remote to it. Otherwise I would find it very cumbersome to make music without a proper musical keyboard. Technically you can create the Midi information just within Garage Band, but being the hobbyist piano player that I am I love to try things out on a keyboard or piano first. A good thing about Apple is that you can use their loops to build your own track with them.

    You can give the distance in KMs too.

    • @travelmentaryTV
      @travelmentaryTV  Před 3 lety

      Well, there are several major problems with that, it‘s a difficult topic. First of all there would be an overload of numbers in my videos then. Furthermore I would need to add it in the animations which makes them less clear and is a lot of work. I could replace the miles with kilometers, my main audience comes from the US though, so it might not be a clever move to do that. Overall I prefer to give the distances in miles.
      As you see there are different considerations to make, but in the end I want to produce videos showing my travel experience to an international audience.

      Hi, thanks for sharing your view. Don't get me wrong, but I'm afraid I can't make it right for everyone and I won't even try to. There are always people who are unhappy about one thing or another. Some don't like my voice, others don't like the music, while there are also people who want more music and there's also a fraction that wants me to make the engine sound much louder. I can't serve all these expectations at the same time - instead I follow my own production guidelines.
      With that being said, if you enjoy pure trip reports, without all the music, this might be just not the right channel for you and your expectations. I experiment a lot with animations, self-composed music etc.. That won't change. Most importantly, I'm not a professional CZcamsr, it is just a hobby that I do for my personal entertainment first and foremost. If somebody watches and likes my videos, it's cool. Nevertheless I have a happy life without all of this.
      There are thousands of trip reporters out there and you should be able to find a creator who makes videos that match your taste better than my little channel can ever do.
      Allow me to give you a few channel recommendations:
      Simply Aviation - No voice, no music, no fancy editing. Amazing channel, they have been releasing videos for a long time and the variety of airlines they test ist impressive:
      czcams.com/users/AustrianA330
      Amandeuce, now known as InflightXperience: Also focuses on the trip itself, very conservative editing, no music as far as I remember.
      czcams.com/users/amandeuce
      Wingin' it - Paul Lucas: One of my personal favorites. His reports are well-edited and with a lot of music. Paul speaks both in front of the camera as well as with a voiceover. I'm not sure if that is what you might like, but I think channel is worth a try.
      czcams.com/channels/zuKzSNb8hGV9DsqIBUb79w.html
      Thanks for watching and I hope you find some enjoyable content. In case you have any further questions, I'll be happy to answer them. Have an amazing day!

    Wow, when did you take this flight? You are very out of date with the old lounge there and the WIFI now offers free instant messaging as well as different grades of WIFI up to a level called "streaming". The WIFI is not time likited either, just bandwidth limited.

    • @travelmentaryTV
      @travelmentaryTV  Před 4 lety +2

      Hi, thanks for your input. That flight is indeed one of the oldies. So essentially the Wifi is like that of Air France now, right? "Message", "Surf" and "Streaming" passes? Do you know if that applies to all planes of their fleet (the 747s obviously don't get a Wifi update, since they are to be phased out in 2021). The 787s have that option as you describe it right now, but I think the A330s and the 777s are continuously getting that capability until first quarter 2021. Thanks for watching and your comment!

    Wow, doesn`t this guy like the sound of his own voice ! Made the whole video into an very amateur production. He knows how to add captions, so why doesn`t he use them throughout ?

    • @travelmentaryTV
      @travelmentaryTV  Před 4 lety +2

      You know what, "this guy" makes the videos the way he likes, in his free time, for fun. Don't like it? Instead of telling me what I have to do, I recommend you to look for creators that use subtitles, there must be hundreds if not thousands of them. The beauty of this platform is the variety of content. Allow me to show you what what a quick search on CZcams reveals:
      InflightXperience, formerly known as Amandeuce: czcams.com/users/amandeuce
      Simply Aviation: czcams.com/users/AustrianA330
      QFS Aviation: czcams.com/channels/btJDUUd9UMUZ8LtFZA8mhA.html
      These are only three of many, many channels focusing on trip reports. I'm sure you will find something that suits your taste.
      Alternatively, you can produce your own trip reports, all it takes is a cell phone with a camera. I would surely like to see the results of your effort. I wish you a great day and happy trips!

    • @sussexflyer6156
      @sussexflyer6156 Před 4 lety

      I know how to 'search' CZcams, and I agree that there are many travel videos on it that use subtitles in place of a droning voice. I just thought that my comment might have spurred you into IMPROVING the standard that you currently submit. Maybe it would encourage greater financial support for your ventures. I`ll still watch your contributions, - if I come across them - but I`ll keep the sound turned off ! xx

    • @travelmentaryTV
      @travelmentaryTV  Před 4 lety

      Well, the thing is I used to do videos with subtitles. However, this channel changed from showing pure trip reports to what I call travelmentaries, a fusion of trip reports with documentaries. In my videos I feature much more background information, than a usual trip report. Therefore making voiceovers gives me much more freedom to explain various aspects. This is not possible using subtitles. Subtitles aren't very exciting in most cases. That is probably the reason why CZcams analytics clearly shows me that viewer retention is usually much higher with voice over videos, than on those with subtitles - people just skim through them watching 20% of such videos. As far as my viewership is concerned, most videos have an approval rating of over 90%. The majority of people seem to like my approach and I enjoy interacting with my subscribers who keep coming back to this channel.
      For this reason and many others, using subtitles would not be an improvement whatsoever with regards to the sort of videos that I aim to produce.
      So my voice will remain a vital part of this channel, maybe I will even appear in front of the camera in future. Mute trip reports are just not my style. That's why I recommended some other channels.
      Most importantly, this is only a little hobby. I'm not doing it for the money, but for the fun of it. I'm very happy with the way this channel has developed. I have an international community of travel enthusiasts around the videos I share - that's so rewarding.
      Anyway, thanks for watching and I wish you many cool trips.
