Really like Port Royal, even better that uss cg(x), by having more aa, better speed and maneuverability. Also it costs like a sixth of the price and can be obtained 10 levels earlier. Definitely a go to for new players, Varyag also is a great option and alternative.

I've tested all high tier cannons with a friend of mine, fastest and most precise ones are monarc and Koalitsya, after that comes tmf, sahi and zumwalt railgun. Only cannon better than monarc is actually the compact railgun obtainable for hero status, it kills way faster than others. (all the tests where conducted at 4.5 km range)

Just buy Koalitsya instead of monarc, it has about the same dps and it's obtainable at level 20.
It's also much cheaper.
