It's Complicated shorten and final version (2023)

One of my first short films I have done outside of class. "It's Complicated" tells the story of lovers Rebecca and Mark who have been together for 3 years. But, when Rebecca introduces Mark to her old friends as a co-worker during her birthday dinner, Mark is confused and angry. While on the other hand, Rebecca doesn't care and says she did this to protect their relationship. Mark sees this as an inadequate excuse, and goes home, leaving Rebecca with the gift that he thought was going to make this birthday the best one yet.
This short film was not only the first time I had worked with a real movie camera, but also the first time I had done a serious piece; something I now love to do. I normally do comedic or coming-of-age films, but with this film, I wanted to show not only my thoughts when it comes to serious projects but more importantly, that I am more than just a comedic writer. I have a unique writing style and I take the personalities of my characters much farther than just the surface level.
As I look back on this before I go to college, there are definitely some things I would want to change now that I'm older and more advanced, but nevertheless, I am more than proud for making this when I was a SOPHMORE IN HIGH SCHOOL.
